A 31-page report from the Florida Department Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles and Florida Highway Patrol released Friday concluded driver error and alcohol consumption played significant roles in the deaths of 11 people and the injuries to many more during a series of crashes on a smoke-shrouded stretch of I-75 south of Gainesville in January.

How is it a coverup? Because the highway patrol didn't prevent the accidents from happening?
If I recall Florida(and probably every other state) law, the speed limit is what is posted,- OR - what is safe for current conditions. That means when visibility is low, you are supposed to slow down to a speed that allows you to react in time to brake, or get the hell off the road.
I feel for those who got caught up in that tragedy, but technically speaking, every one of those drivers who ran into something in front of them was at fault.
We as Americans have come to give up responsibility. We expect the powers that be, our parents, our politicians, the police, the insurance companies, the lawyers to look after us, make sure we don't get hurt and clean up our messes. When did we change from the independent pioneers who built a great nation to the bunch of whining children who can't even wipe their own noses?
