Fire crews on Monday chased a brush fire across more than 10 acres of the Montebello Hills, putting out most of it by the evening, with crews expected to be on watch into Tuesday morning, officials said.
Authorities say the fire did not reached homes and no one was injured, though two power poles were burned down, exposing live power lines. Water to put out the fire is being pumped from nearby Legg Lake, where helicopters are stationed.

With the patient in the Ambulance today you have the highly treained paramedics in the Fire truck.
How does that help?
Let's get the trained personell next to the patient.
Ex Montebello firefighter ignores the duplication of costs.
With that money you could fund more paramedics and firefighters and overall get mauch better patient costs for the City.

It does. I found it ironic that in 1997, LIARLARI lied to the senior citizens by telling them that if they voted for LACoFD protection, they would lose their paramedics. Why? Because the proposal called for making the Engine at HQ a paramedic engine, replacing the squad. Yet, a few years later, both squads were replaced by paramedic engines, essentially dropping one person on scene per response. Yet, everyone was ok with it! Once again, politics getting in the way of public safety!
