Thankyou Robert. I am his grieving mum and was just looking around to perhaps find something to help us to understand what happened to him that night. I don't know who you are but we had a wonderful funeral with about 1000 and many of his great Adelaide mates. I can send you the card from the service if you would like. Thankyou for being one of his many, many friends. Ann

I moved from Perth to Adelaide in June 2005. I didn't know anyone at all. I met Ben within the first week of moving here. He befriended me. We used to play Scrabble together and he beat me every time! Very frustrating, considering I never lost a game in Perth! My birthday was in July and he organised a birthday party for me that year :) He introduced me to a lot of people and made my move to Adelaide so much easier. We drifted apart late in '05 but still kept in contact. The last time I spoke to him was on the day he landed in QLD. He was so excited and enthusiastic about the move. He certainly was an interesting guy and I have lots of great memories ...
He is missed.

Ben and I used to hang out occasionally and we didnt see each other for about 2 yrs after I started going out with my boyfriend. I kept in contact with him via msn and myspace and caught up with him on his birthday this yr luckily, not knowing it would be the last time I would see him. He taught me what a pepper tree looked like and how good spiderman uno is...I will miss him greatly xxoo

Benno was one of my best mates. We started working together in a surveying office at the start of 2004 and little did I know when I started there just how close we would become... I remember our almost daily trips to Hungry Jacks or Barnacle Bill for lunch, I'd always drive because he never had a car! Work was a blast with him there - always butting in on conversations and pretending to know what we were talking about, we had to work in separate rooms because we talked too much!
I sold him my old Corona and he drove it to Beachport and back and then it broke down... he looked hilarious in an old brown car with a pink Playboy sticker on the back.
I heard from him at least a few times a week when I changed jobs in 2006. We had such a great time together, he felt like a brother. I remember Ann coming in to the office every now and again to drop food off for him, he loved his sister and parents so much, he would always rave on about how cool his sister is...
I found out about his death on Monthers Day, the day after it happened. His sister found my number in his phone and let me know. We made the trip down to Mt Gambier for the funeral.
Ben had emailed me on the Friday saying that he wanted me to come up and visit him on the Gold Coast and that he was having an absolute blast, unfortunately I was too busy to reply at work and he passed away that night. One of my biggest regrets.
The last time I saw Benno was at Electric Circus in Adelaide about a week before he moved to QLD. He was having a ball, and that's how I will remember him. A genuinely good bloke, a great friend and will be remembered forever.
Much love, I bet you're blasting trance tunes out of your boom box in the sky xxxxxx

I know this seems such a long time ago but it was Ben's birthday yesterday, he would have been 29 and I was just looking through info. I just wondered if you ever knew that he had developed an incurable heart problem. It has about a 92% fatality rate and he would have been immediatly on the transplant list. It is called Giant Cell Myocarditus, they do not know what causes it or how to fix it. Most people never know they have it. The coroner said he had probably blacked out when he hit the other car.

Ben was an awesome fella, fun to be around and would always provide the night full of laughter! He was a bit older than me but we would have the occasional drink together and there was never a dull moment! R.I.P mate you are dearly missed and remembered with a smile !!!
