These tragedies have long been drawing attention and you'd think after all this time with so many unfortunate accidents, people would be more aware. It's easy to push these things into the back of our minds where we tend to forget about them for a time. Then, there are those who never think that it can happen to them or a loved one. Just the same, there really are some responsible gun owners out there so I'm not trying to discredit them in any way. I personally feel that firearms of any kind should not be taught to children until they're much older. I wouldn't want to risk an accident no matter how careful I think I am being.

Common sense dictates it does'nt have to.

I believe that EVERY child should go to gun safety.
All of my children went. My oldest did not want to go. She went anyway, in case she was ever put into a situation with a weapon. In order to get your certificate, you must go to the range and fire a weapon. To my knowledge, that is the only time in her life that she has touched a gun. She didn't have the desire and that is ok. I sleep well at night, knowing that she has the knowledge about gun safety should she ever need it.
The flip side of the coin, my youngest loves the outdoors and at the age of 14 got to fire a 55 CAL flintlock muzzleloader on Sunday. He was thrilled and said it was the most fun thing he had done all summer. I know from watching that he to knows how to be safe, even when experiencing a gun that he has no previous knowledge of.
IMHO, guns are like cars, while sometimes the driver makes mistakes and kill somebody, doesn't mean that we should outlaw driving.
My oldest did not want to go. She went anyway

That's your fault

If the child does'nt feel comfortable firing a weapon, why would it be so important to you.

It's the ones who want to IMPRESS their parents that I'm worried about

They're too young

I hope America isn't setting up these kids for war like other countries as young as 8 years old. I'm sure not but boy was I shocked when I heard about this story, when did all this start anyway?
Kids learning to shoot guns, sounds like something out of twilight zone episode.

I just noticed the signed in profiles are now this purple/blue color. I like that better than the bright yellow. Looks like blueberries.

Thank you Grace. I always enjoy reading your posts too. I think what may have happened is that PP's comment was for another post. With this new format, I too almost did the exact same thing. Don't know why they changed it. Perhaps they feel that by putting the judge-its on the bottom, they won't stand out as much. Maybe dissuade posters from using them just a bit? I don't know, just speculating. Anyway, we'll all just have to get used to it, lol.

I wonder if that was staged or if the other guy really had no clue he was being messed with. I'm thinking it's the latter.
