Public high school suspends girl for five days for Favoriting Tweets

Feb 11, 2014 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: WFLA-AM Tampa

The principal at a small-town South Carolina high school has suspended a student for five days because she clicked Twitter's "favorite" button and thereby favorited a tweet at a controversial, grossly immature Twitter page called HsConfessionSC.

Isn't the phrase "Favoriting Tweets" actually a euphemism?

This is just BS, schools getting involved in social engineering where they have no business IMHO. This student did something the principal disapproved of, and so punished her for it he did far more wrong than she did! And that's assuming she did anything wrong, hey excuse me... it's called her having an opinion!

Agreed. If it turns out it wasn't from a school computer the school has no right to suspend her. It's her right to have an opinion no matter how offensive someone finds it. Neither schools nor government should be involved in social engineering.
