Last night I was watching our local news and they briefly talked about a bridge collapsing. People and cars in the water. Was it because of this earthquake?
My news didn't even talk about it this morning.

I keep falling off myself Chris...get so caught up in stuff etc, but at some point I do return..nice to see some old faces and new ones too..hard finding a thread on here that the trolls don't destroy, never got ppl doing that. Farmers tan counts yes...any tan is great!!
Life happens right? I've been so busy that days turn into weeks. Then when I realize, I look back and it's been months. Where does the time go?

Well, today is going to be a beautiful day. Going to try to get the rest of my body caught up with the tan on my arms. I've got a wedding at the end of June to attend. I will look awfully funny if my arms are dark and my legs are milky white.

Perse, I just google the bridge collapse. It was in Washington.

As for the earthquake that hit California, I didn't know. I hope no one was injured.

Thanks, now I'm singing Mr. Rogers Neighborhood. Let's just hope it's not stuck in my head all day. Let's not forget the mental picture you just painted too. His sweaters and the changing of his shoes. LMAO ;)

<quoted text>Wow that's crazy! Your whole family could have been shot up back in the day! Or was he just talking to impress his nephew maybe? But I don't think you're lying.
He didn't say a single thing that was incriminating. He didnít tell me how he knew all these guys and he said he was never in it.

So, since nothing incriminating was said and he said he wasnít in it, I dunno if what was said was wrong. Iíve also never told anyone about it other than my folks about it until now (Iíve told a few friends but I didnít tell them it was my uncle Ö I just said it was someone I know). Iím only saying it now because he is in such bad health, this stuff is so old (most of the guys are probably dead, in jail, or in the twilight of their life). So, I fail to see what anyone could do with the information (and there is nothing incriminating anyways Ö I donít even remember any of the names he was shooting off Ö other than the brothers in Casino, I had never heard of these guys Ö it was so much to take in too Ö even if I consciously tried to memorize names, I couldnít). So, whatís the harm?

Pretty sure if it were against the code of silence he would not have been so loose with his lips or would have AT LEAST said, eh, this is just between me and you, kid Ö attorney client privilege, and I would have respected that. I have to do that all the time, and Iím not a blabber mouth about stuff that should not be repeated. It was very matter of fact and we were playing black jack for a long time and the dealer overheard everything too.

I had the impression he knew all these guys from the old neighborhood. My family has deep roots in Chicago, on both my mother and father's side and his does too. See, back in the day, when folks first came here from Europe, you all lived as one big extended family. It wasnít just Italians, it was each ethnic group. There were different ethnic neighborhoods throughout Chicago. You had all your aunts, uncles, cousins, all living in Chicago, not far from each other, sometimes a couple blocks Ö sometimes next door Ö sometimes on the next floor. A lot of family parties and get togethers. On my dadís maternal side of the family, which is German, everything revolved around my great-grand parents. So it was very family oriented and almost idyllic, to hear my father talk about what it was like growing up in those days (40s and 50s). It really was more of an it takes a village mentality.

You also grew up with the same kids and went to school with them from the time you were in kindergarten through high school. Your friends knew your folks, your brother, your cousins, from very early on. So you developed close friendships with guys.

Since my uncles dad was in it, it is highly likely he grew up with some guys who also when they became men were in it, and I don't think when you have long friendships like that, even if you aren't in the mob, that it would be unusual to still hang out as young adults on ocassion. He also had the $$ to live that kind of lifestyle.

I have no idea of knowing if he was trying to impress me, but if he was, it was both he and my aunt. I've also known them my whole life and we used to do our annual Vegas trip for a lot of years, and I can usually smell a b.s.íer from a mile away. They are not the type and I did not get that impression from them.

I also think when I told my folks the next day, instead of them being oddly quiet about it they would have said, oh Uncle F is a b.s.íer and likes to act like a big man with that stuff. My folks had no clue about any of that stuff. Back when my uncle owned his business, they had a lot of money, and my parents were just starting out and they did not hang out in the same circles.

Iím very close to his son too (heís my favorite cousin ... we are like pees in a pod when we get together and it's non-stop fun and laughter) and heís never mentioned anything about that either Ö I donít think he even knows (he would have told me if he knows Ö I know just about everything about him Ö if he did a line of coke off a hookers back, he would have told me about it just for shytes and giggles Ö we are that close).

Beautiful weather today, I wish I had the day off but I'm the closer tonight .... bummer. Gotta work Saturday and Sunday .... then they gave me Monday off.
After a hard weekend I'm sure Monday will be sleep in day, cats permitting of course, lol. The odds don't look good on that, they think 6am is breakfast .... pirates! But I can always crawl back to bed.
