I am doing a speech for my class on this subject. I believe this should be aloud but that doesn't mean that teachers, school officals, and most definetly parents shouldn't talk to their kids about the education of what will happen. But the kids should have a right to get this treatment because if they are too afraid to come tell there parents. What are they going to do? Even though it is wrong not to tell the parents at least there children are being more protected that if they didn't say anything at all.

It should be "free speech" too, don't you agree?

and who should be held responsible for adverse reactions to the birth control? and who should be held responsible for the 1 time in a million the birth control doesn't work?

A lot of people are unaware of the full issue here. This school, and other schools in the area, have a health clinic for students. Parents must give the clinics permission to treat their children, not per incident, but a general permission to go to that clinic for whatever reason. However, once that permission is given, the clinic adheres to a doctor/patient confidentiality. So if the clinic starts providing birth control, the parents are NOT informed even if they were to specifically ask the clinic if they are giving their child birth control.

That is what the main beef is.

I'm all for it. They need to come to Jacksonville and hand out some too! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I'd rather fund the expenses to Medicaid for a side effect of birth control than the pregnancy itself and a lifetime of benefits after conception, Got me?

If you're doing this for a speech...

"Allowed", hun. "Allowed" is something permited, "aloud" is something spoken out loud.

"their" parents", not "there parents"
"their children", not "there children"

"their" is possessive, "there" is not.

Good Luck :-)

Ok, so condom i might be able to understand. But HORMONE THERAPY to children who have not gone through puberty is a terrible idea. The lawsuits that result in a few years from misdeveloped girls are not going to be pretty.

No one is forcing anything on these adolescents.
My argument would be that the potential of adolescent pregnancy is by far more detrimental to their health.....
