Two hours ago Microsoft called me to tell me ... "Someone (without your consent) is trying to HACK your computer ma`am. Are you aware of this?"

Here is the funny part of this story ... I just bought this BRAND NEW Computer after my $1,000 laptop sh!t the bed months ago.

Some of you may recall I've repeatedly posted ... I never played on my computer outside (Emails for seven years) until I discovered TOPIX.

How about you ... Ever Have Your Computer Hacked Into?

How would Microsoft know that your computer is being hacked? Sound like someone is fishing for some info from you Trish.

I've never been hacked but have gotten several emails from Nigeria's finance minister telling I had six million dollars I could collect if I gave him the information he needed. Oh,, and I also won the European lottery a couple of years ago even though no entry was required.. How lucky can one man be???

Block their number. Them having you your computer ID is not much of an issue in itself; I'd be more worried about he fact that they toyed around with your computer for a couple of hours. If they were hackers, they probably installed spy ware/key counter on your computer.

They refused to send me email and that's where I told them to pizz off
and that I believed they were SCAM artists. I also refused to answer phone
and next thing I know they are speaking to me through the computer.

He said fine ... I'll just remove all I put on there. I tried shutting down computer,
but it wouldn't. Is my email account compromised now? What about them
having my computer ID number.

I appreciate your assistance, truly dragoon.

Spyware/key counter?

I took this computer back to the store because it ran like cr@p the minute I tried using it. They fiddled with it a bit and I thought it would be fine, but no. I didn't have a lot of time to play with it and the store is 60 miles away, so I just parked it and didn't touch it again. I've done
very little with it. Guess what site I visited first. Dang !!

Guess I'll be spending more money to fix it cause I can't bring it back now. 15 days was all I had.
I'm so pleased I didn't give them the old computer info. How do we know when NOT to click on links? Shoot, we would miss a lot out here if we didn't click on them.

Your e-mail account should be fine, as long as you do not open any suspicious e-mail.

However, if they are still "talking" to you through your computer, my guess is the that your computer is probably compromised. Do you still have their phone number? If so, post it and I will try to do some research...

Really no way to avoid ALL of the bad links out there. A good antivirus and antimalware program will help detect when you do click on bads ones though. I've found this one to work the best for me:
