Elenorigby, Camden N.J. rated as the higest crime rates including murder in the nation. On this side if the river, Chester is nearly as bad. Last summer was a curfew issued for all. Adults had to have a good reason to be out. That is where HUD and county have most their housing offers. In my town crime has risen very high. I stay in at night. Usually stay home from 1pm because of riots from teen students (I live 1/4 mile from a school) and police patrol during school arrivals/departures. 65 teens fightting alongside my home. Gun fire into a home 3 weeks ago. 41 years living here. Was'nt bad place to live 12 years ago.

Well you certainly can't be too concerned with your so-called "sad lot." Being that you post from your Obamaphone on a public forum all day - instead of actually going out and doing something about it.
Just admit it - you're a scam.
Who in God's green earth would even look to a public forum, specically a forum called Offbeat, to legitimately ask for help?

Comprehension problems? This is NOT some government phone. I pay for service. On it I have unlimited use time. Great deal to have. Monthly rate decreses after 6 months with same service. As I said I have limited endurance so internet is my connection to world. Wake up to present times. Lots of good phone plans. Town too tidky to go out a lot. When desparate a person will seek help wherever. And I got it. So that shows it works by going on a forum. You're the one faking being human.

I hope all goes well for you.
When I was down in the dumps years ago, I always said this mantra in my head, "I will survive", and it worked for me. I wish you the best.

Just a thought and not trying to be mean but you've spent several hours posting here via your phone so you seem to have a grasp on texting/typing. Have you thought about getting a job doing data entry? You can sit and type all day long and get paid.

lke i said it "offbeat". that is strange or funny, if you check the site map there will be a better forum for you. you don't go to a bar and ask a drunk about this stuff, right

Like I said- been diagnosed, ailments confirmed. Not here for medical evaluations. Bone spurs throughout LIMIT how long I can do chores. I take breaks from any task. Shoulders have bone spurs and begins with electric like tingling. Then hot, then painful, extending further and further. That's when I have to stop till recovered. Who would employ and pay for someone needing to stop typing every 2 hours? Why I have' nt been hete since last post. Pain got too strong for anymore typing.

Vick..

I knew a lady here in my home state that receives not only S.S. but government housing assistance as well. I don't know all the details but I'm sure you can check around. She rented a house from a person that had to meet certain stipulations of the government to be able to be used as a source of government housing. They also have apartments that are government subsidized. Depending on your income is how much you pay for rent.

If I knew you personally. I'd be glad to help.

look, when a person does'nt have enough to pay rent/mortgage, taxes, utilities to keep a home, then it goes for paying what you can. Phone is how I been searching for help from various agencies-churches. You call that frivilous? What, wait for letters to be written and mailed for letters sent? Ringtones come with phones.

I had to stop typing for awhile with increasing pain from bone spurs. Glad you remembered me. Yeah I had to give up much. Car, cable, house phone, computer, etc. When my mom died 17 months ago I immediately downsized all I can to survive. My brothers,in laws and nephews would'nt help our mom. Financially or family wise. Why she did a reverse mortgage. To make ends meet. Then I became the caretaker. We had health care workers, but 3 times a week, one hour each time. The rest I did even with my ailments. When the healthcare workers seen how worn down I was they removed her into a nursing home. Then to a hospice unit. She wanted to die in her home. I needed asistance for that. Also she assured me one of my btotgers woukd take me in their home (paying my share) but did'nt happen. My younger brother took her credit card to pay for creamation! And he earns a good pay as does my older brother. They let their parents work at ages 81 and 84 when thry could easily afford to give them yhe small difference to stay retired. That way the house could be divided 3 ways and each of us getting about $12,000. Now no one gets one cent. All I needed to get a new start in life. That first month rent/security and moving costs I would have had. I been paying for utilities I use. Leaves me with $6/day for food. Even one hoagie/ cheese steak cost $7. I spent 2 winters living in the bedroom. Just have heat for that room. Watch over the air tv-indoor attena, and this phone. Only go downstairs to cook, do dishes, take out trash, laundry. Refridgerator unplugged all winter. Use flashlight-candles in rest of home. Those steps get me by monthly. Its the house I can't afford let alone the required downpayment for renting. With homeowners insurance, utilities, food, house maintenence, taxes and household supplies,is more than I have to shell out. So I just pay utilities, food and phone. On $865/ month. I missed being on the forums since I had to disconnect. Again, great to hear from you and helped me very much!

I'm so glad I picked up on this thread as it's great to 'see'
you again, even under such circumstances, as there is no doubt about it, you are going the right way to improve your life-style,
you have a clear conscience in how you cared for your Mom, and
that is more than the rest of your family can say. It's amazing how this happens so often in families, leaving it all down to one
to look after elderly parents, well, you did your bit and now time to get you back on your feet. There are so many of us who have
'been there'..no shame in it, can't be helped and certainly not your fault. You are answerable to nobody, and did the right thing in seeking advice here, one or two good suggestions, including looking at craigslist....very often just what you are looking for comes along when you least expect it, I always found that.
I genuinely hope that I did help..I mean..the number of people you have helped along the way, you deserve all the help going.
I read about the situation in Camden..it was going that way when I passed through...
So that is out of the question...
The offer still stands...anything I can do within reason!...:)
Later..

Yes my conscience is clear. Did all I could for her. Near the end she realized that I was the only family member that supported her and told me she would'nt know what to do without me. She was greatly angered the rrst of family did nothing. And I was the one she did least for. So glad you found me!! You are one of the few blessings in my life. It is scary to be facing homelessness. All the hard work I done since age 18 to have my own home. Seems like it was all for nothing. However,as you stated, going on a forum was beneficial and still in awe that you seen it and entered! You gave me that encouragement to keep trying. The others on here that are expressing hate shows why society is in its current state. Sad that I see so many lacking humanity and far from being civilized. Here I see only a few "roses in a garden of weeds". You being one of those roses.

<quoted text> Thank you very much. I applied on line to that agency just one mile away. I have the needed documents for proof. That other disabled guy that wants to be a roomate,I'll pass on the info to him. He has a pain reliving device with a tube going into him and because of it he has slurred speech and lacks corodination. I seen the device. He'll need more help than I can give. Been helping an 88 yr old guy. My condition worsened and can't help as much. Got tested for fibromayalgia recently. Likly the senior will go back into nursing home. After doing his chores I become too worn out to do mine. Had. B-12 injections, take energy drinks, lots of coffee and still tired none if it keeps me awake when taking before bed. The ailments cause fatique. Legs swell in 4-5 hours no matter what work I do.
I was just reading from way over here..

I'd advise you to be very careful of the person
who is disabled, NO disrespect to him at all,
but your own health isn't good and you cannot
afford to take on anyone else's problems
just now, ads I see it;

you must be careful of stress and your mental health too..

I'm sorry you are getting hassle here
about how quickly or otherwise you
reply, by phone etc... surely 'the means of communication'
shouldn't be important,

it's more the fact that you're
looking for help which should be addressed and
treated seriously
and with a little more humanity.

Hi Grace!!! I remember you also. Been close to 2 years since having internet access. Glad to hear from you to. I went by the name Hoffmiester. Yes, I had enough of taking care of others, for now. That 88yt old senior-his nephew said I could move in. I knew what that means. A full time companion to relieve the nephew from his handling hid uncle. I asked what happens when the guy dies? Look gor a place to live again? He said I could stay till thr house is sold. Homes around here takes a year or more on average. So I would be having to find a place to live again. No thanks I said. Not enough stamina now at 58 to go all day. Ten years from now most likly would'nt be able to take care og myself and would need someone to do things for me. Probably look to being in a nursing home by age 65. State run facilities take S.S. & medicare. As you seen, some posters quite nasty in responce to a serious problem. They just take advantage to satisfy some sickminded need to verbal attacks. I did expect some seeing others seeking help on forums before. When a subject matter I don't like I just avoid it. Simple. So they just have a sick need to insult. Anyway, thank you for responding. Always a pleasure to converse.
