One has living quarters in a basement. The other has an extra bedroom. I counted on that. Was on HUD list. Stayed to help out my parents. He dies so our mother needed help. I stayed. Another guy in bad shape contacted me through a church member. He been on HUD list 1 year. He was told, just as I was, 5 yr wait. Paid off bills inqured by her medical care, mostly ulitities so I would'nt follow me when leaving here. I'm sure when I fill out any applications, non paid bills would interfere when listing former address. Part of what advice I sought here. If that non paid bills would follow. So I paid. Money that woukd have been saved. Guess when I was'nt taken in by family. 17 months of saving to move on 900/ month would take more time, paying those bills, then food.
Why should your brother take care of you ? You are an adult. Act like one. It never occured to me to ask my family to "take me in". Dang I should work on that .lol

Did it ever occur to you to ask your siblings if they'd take you in rather than ask your mom if they'd take you in?

Family supposed to help one another, would'nt you say? I obtained a room to rent 3 yrs ago. When I announced I was leaving, she got terrified of being alone. Lots of family dynamics going on so I just tell basics, that is when she daid she would talk to my brothers about taking me in. Not uncommon occurance. So I belived her. And my ailmennts are progressive as told by neuropathy specialist and rhumalolgist. That means less ability to take care of myself. So one reaches out for family and an additional income fir them. Everyone wins. What I counted on. I certainly woild help them ig one of them were in my place. And that hurts to know.

Seems like your family ignores you. Why you so negitive here. Adults? If you ever had a job, see how childish adults act. One of the first lessons I got after graduating. Thought all the adolescence junk was over. Adults act worse than kids. This forum shows that in abundance.

Go to a group home or nursing home let them take care of you.If you are that bad you may have to eventually. Not being mean with that. Its just logic

Just got an email 20 mins ago from a council member on that. She was at my home during re-election campaigning. Things seem to getting better.

Great.
I'm really glad for you.
I hope it works out.

We have a really nice assisted
living high rise here. If it
doesn't work out in your area it
might be wise to move to another
area.

Good luck to you Vick. Enjoy the
holiday weekend:)

to come back and hear good news such as this.

The posts you got were uncalled for. I assumed that's why you been away. Glad for you not to have to receive those nasty remarks to you, by staying off this forum. I don't want you to endure that for my sake. You and Grace been a God send. Those links provided gives me a decent chance. You done all you can. I wish I still had your email address. I'll look around my files to see if I have it yet. When I had to discoonect the PC, I thought it'd be a long time to never having my own web access again. Maybe I use my old phone- the one that has the damaged screen ( that was knocked to the ground by kids). To have any further phone use on it costs $35/ month. So when I get obnoxious callers, just keep it off.

I didn't notice anything really untoward. I am quite thick skinned...everybody is entitled to their own opinion and if
I got in the way of theirs, then I got a piece of their minds.
LOL! I have been around far too long to let it worry me, I
got a really nice compliment from one of the posters so it kind
of balances the scales.
It seems things are looking up for you..hope that continues to
be the case. Things can only improve, eh?! We have had our ups and downs in our family, my hubby is a 'Maxwell Pensioner'...
by which I mean he worked for Robert Maxwell who used the pension funds to finance his own life style...it was tricky for a while but given time things improved.
Well, keeping my fingers crossed that this coming week will bring more results...meanwhile, take good care.

I certainly did't like what they posted to you. Things looking a little better so just that is a sign of "rescue". I never heard of the Maxwell pensioner. However, I'm glad it worked out for both of you. I'd love to give you a big hug, so being so far away, I send a virtual one-- HUGGING!!

Thank you. One of the reasons I have do little is I know emotiinal pain. When a few people I am friends with needs money,I give it. Put others needs before mine. Lost a close friend over it. I took to mentoring a young man ( a teenager then) and taught him things guys need to know. How to do home repairs, taught him to drive etc. Paid him for doing chores for me and just loans so he could go out with friends his age. 5 yrs of things like that. Even when my mother died, I had way less to live on. Still helped him financially. He said he'd talk to his mother about me moving in, essentially being part of a family again. So I continued with loans and just giving money. Last month he needed a loan. All I had left was $40. Just enough to have food till payday. He promised to pay back the next day. The next day came, then the next. 4 days later he calls me. He went to Delaware state! Knoeing I had no money left. I had to borrow. His mother has enough foid in their home. Befite he would bring me food from his home to me when needing money. Except this time. So I said no more loans/ money. Well, he said he was expecting guests and would talk to me later. When I got home he began texting very foul words to me. Even a death threat. So I called police and showed the texts. Officer when to his home and lectured him. So I lost that option if having a place to not only live but be part of family. His oldest sister tells her 8 yr old I'm his uncle. I felt so at home again. But when he said nothing if going away for a few days and leaving me broke. His mother only wanted $400/ month includes all utilities. Why I was'nt so concerned about this house. This young man got into drug trafficking. I guess why he became so threatening when I daid no more loans, that I need it to get by on. Maybe a withdrawl if those drugs got him so enraged. Do I made this forum for advice on short term needs.
