Right. If I am wrong...I couldn't give a monkey's....my misjudgement, but if I am right, then a little bit of help didn't go amiss and no skin to me, better I think to give the benefit of the doubt rather than come shouting the odds about it being otherwise.
Personally I think some good came of the thread whereby folk came forward and revealed the difficulties they themselves have had in life, and come out on top.
Have a great day M69.
The hate I see here is far more than expected. This is real. The situation I'm in. Posted the basics of what happened. So to get advice/guidance I began this forum. You helped very much. All I ask for is that advice. Sympathy? No, do not seek that. It won't be of any benefit. Yet some here THINK that's all I'm after. Called HUD this morning. Applied on line for rent asisstance. Have all the proof I need to qualify. Despite what some claim. Sickening yo read how many there are of haters in our society. They get ripped off by politicians. They get ripped off by big buisness. Many jobs outsourced. Banks and auto industry bailed out by citizens of this country. But when someone like me just asks for advice/ guidance, jump all over my case. If they put that much effort into fighting govt.- big buisness, this country woukd be in better shape. Bless you Eleanorigby for your help. All I ask for here.

Just because people question whether or not your story is true does not mean they hate you. That's just ridiculous.

Look dweeb - it's not hate - it has more to do with spotting an obvious fraud. Something you never thought you'd have to lie about to get around.

By the way - your ISP location is changing again - now you're in NY, huh? Wonder how you can do that with an Obamaphone and my $1500 smartphone can't.

And per your own last post about if people put more effort into things, things would change... if you put as much effort into fixing your life as you did complaining on here maybe you'd be in a better place too.

Just sayin. No hate intended.

Crime happens everywhere, even in upper class areas. Higher crime rates occur among the homeless, and most of the victims don't report them. I know you'd prefer to live in a safer neighborhood, but you really don't have much choice at this moment in your life, do you?
I am low income and have lived in high crime areas most of my life. I would prefer to live in a better neighborhood but due to poor choices as a young adult (not getting a higher education for one when I could have with family to lean on. Now...pfft), and serious injuries due to a few car accidents, with no close family members to lean on for financial or emotional support and other issues, yet here I am... Alive and well in the 'hood. And have never been robbed or had a home invasion.
The slow as hell dino pc I use was bought from the Goodwill and my neighbor is kind enough to let me piggy back on his wifi, before that I used the library to access the internet, though it usually has a time limit, unless the library isn't busy and the librarian disables time limit. And yes, Im quite aware unemployment only takes applications online, as most buisnesses now do. The work force center (unemployment) allows you to come in and use their pc's to apply for jobs during buisness hours with no time limits. And 7 hours a month to make important, not personal, calls to agencies is enough. Barely, but enough. Metro Mobility offers bus rides (usually 75¢ each way) to the disabled and the elderly to go wherever they want to go, whether it be grocery shopping, hair salons, Unemployment/ Work Force Center, dr. appts., etc., and they pick you up and drop you off at home.
I understand and sympathize with what you're going through. Some of it is just bad luck, the cards life dealt to you and some of it is due to your own bad choices and being picky when you're in no position to be picky. Like a poster said above "woulda, coulda, shoulda"... It's time to stop making excuses and work with the cards you were dealt. Your choice having a roof over your head in a high crime area until you can supplement your SSI/SSD income with employment and afford better or be homeless and live in fear of being victimized 24/7 whether on a street or in a shelter or become extremely ill or die due to being exposed to the elements while living on the street. Which is most likely going to happen if you don't get yourself on a waiting list...
I hope you choose wisely. I don't want you to suffer needlessly.
Finally someone in a similar situation responds. That one phone got damaged by kids that ran into me. Have' nt used it in 4 months. It has no internet access. Bus fare here is $2 each way.$1 if show medicare card. That I do. Waiting lists in this area, as shown on PBS TV, is a long wait. Mainly because more in need of housing than what is available. That show can be seen on line. I asked if this house would go up for rent once forclosed,as did the other 3 house did on this 8 home row. Wells Fargo wants 52,000 upfront. Without internet no where I know to apply. Did'nt know there was a rental asisstance office in town. I applied online. Then HUDs help for homeless called the Hearth Act. I applied. I believe that will be of benefit. I get around on my own because if transportation accessibility. 200ft from me is a bus stop. Do most my errands that way. Went to my rhumatologist this morning. 2 buses to get there and practically door to door. So if I get a place near here I can remain relativly independant.

I just wonder if the portrait is completely accurate, because to give someone the best advice, they need to be honest with you.
You seem very sweet and genuine, regardless. I like that.

You know, I don't want to sound uncaring or outright mean, but I saw this same first post at least one to two years ago here on offbeat, word for word. Was that you then, too? I felt bad for you then, but now I'm wondering. And you seem to be shooting down almost every piece of advice you're given.

On offbeat, it's very difficult to get good advice. This is a place to have fun and be funny. I think if you try a more serious forum, you may have better luck. I wish the best for you.

It's hard to know on here and you can't fault folks for being suspicious, especially with your address jumping all over the place.

"I have neuropathy, osteoarthritis, fibromayalgia that slows me down."

"Went to my rhumatologist this morning."

A rheumatologist will not help you with neuropathy, osteoarthritis or fibromayalgia. They treat rheumatoid arthritis. RA is an autoimmune disease that results in a chronic, systemic inflammatory disorder that may affect many tissues and organs, but principally attacks flexible (synovial) joints. It can be a disabling and painful condition, which can lead to substantial loss of functioning and mobility if not adequately treated.

Orthopaedists are doctors who are licensed and specially trained in diseases of the bones and joints. They can order tests as well as prescribe treatment. If you need physical therapy, they can order it. They can prescribe medications, diagnose, and treat the symptoms as well as the disease itself.

My grandmother died when she was 90 years old - she worked till the day she died and she not only had fibromayalgia and rheumatoid arthritis, but was a Type II Diabetic.

Why would you even address him as
'dweeb'?
that immediately sets up a bad vibe when
none is called for..

Ours is a tiny country..
adnd EVEN SO... my location even changes

You said here on Offbeat some time back that
you had suffered a stroke,
I was genuinely sorry to hear that,
but, getting yourself agitated unnecessarily
does NOT help..

Social security not just going to accept disability by say so. One has to prove it. Medical exames/ tests and setups by doctors S.S. appoints to avoid fraudulent claims. I passed all of it. Why I got disability. Because I went on it at age 45, not as much monthly payments as those who get it at age 65. And they know that, the doubters. That 900/ month is all I have. No pension, no 402k. I have to fill out every year S.S. form to continue to receive it and reqiures a doctors letter to send in. Physical determination done, evaluations done. Don't need or want medical evaluations from non doctors over a website. Thank you so much for standing up for me! I had that nice life of having a good income. Had an apartment of my own in 1990. Had a car, credit card and happy with that life and miss that life. All came crashing down when this physical junk happened. Not poor decisions that brought me to my current status.
In reply to ad few posts you made me,
I still feel for you,
and what folks too easily forget is,
a person comes here and gives a bird's-eye view
of their particular life's difficulties;
how easy then it is, for [email protected]
reading here ... to make a sudden decision that 'this person'
is a charlatan, layabout or a moan,
forgetting all the years months days hours
and minutes that person has suffered, and what
life complications brought him to this pass,
that, in desperation, he had to ask in cyberland for help..
Does he not honestly deserve a hearing?
