It's a tough time, Tony..
and, I think the Christmas season
has an art in pulling at the heart strings
a little stronger.
I felt your sadness and
left you a post in INTERESTING QUOTES thread.
Found it thanks. It's a beautiful song, as so many of the Irish ones are. Years ago, used to play in a band that did a fair few Irish numbers, although not that one.

If there is any good outcome of loss, for me it is an awaremess of how real this unreal cyber world is. Most of us have never met, yet those of us who behave on here as we would in the real world seem to have developed a bond amongst ourselves. Strange how one can call a person one has never met face to face friend - yet it is the correct word.

Very thought provoking post,
with a 100 ways of looking at it.

Yes,I agree about the uniqueness of the
cyber world, and one of the other strange aspects is,

if one has NO idea
of what a poster looks like [they might use a cartoon figure
for avatar pic, for example] but strangely 'we' will put a 'face'
on that person ourselves, we won't respond to just 'a post'
until we have turned it into some kind of person.

Is that just me or is it universal?

and isn't it strange too how we act[ generally speaking]
to criticism, from someone we never met or will meet! lol!

Would be interesting to hear further comments to your
interesting post Tony.

What an adventure then!:){{{ Cuz Eleanor }}}
Yes, a rural town of maybe 350-400 human souls.
Only as an infant did I live in the city where I was born; where Dad worked until retirement. As a wee toddler we moved to a community where he grew up, then out of that small town to country, renting a farmhouse on a working farm. The landlord had dominion on the farm part, but there must have been an arrangement. I have vague memories of "helping" mom collect eggs, and at least one memory of her dispatching an adult for a meal. Then or another time, I had to help pluck feathers. Also remember bottle-feeding a calf. As the farmer wanted to move in his house, we moved to another rental country house of a family "settlement" surrounded by fields.
Parents bought a house back in the town where we had lived before "going country". There was the township school for grades 1-12, 3 churches, 2 petrol stations, a drug/general store, a small grocery store, another general store with essential grocery items, Masonic Lodge, barber shop, hardware store, 2 small restaurants, and a grain elevator situated at the railroad.
The county seat was about 10 miles distance where 2 movie theaters, "supermarkets", and all of the commerce truly useful in living.
Then ... with the influences of newspapers, magazines, TV, driving when of age; and consolidation of school systems the world expanded and changed, as did "we".
Dear {{{Cuz Luke}}}...I can't find the words to thank you enough for allowing me into your life story as you have told here...I will treasure it and keep it close...I could almost see the places you mentioned and the family you portrayed, your family. Priceless, and simply, thank you.

As I see it Tony, by getting to know our cyber friends, eventually, and it does take a while, we see the 'inner person' in our mind's eye. More so than the old 'pen-friends' means of communication, as we are 'seeing' each other in our responses to other cyber friends. To me, my cyber friends are beyond price...and I count yourself as one of the best of them!

We all do it,
my worst one by far was..
when I was teaching my 18 yr old grandson
how to drive,
we were around the block as usual, and finally,
under my instruction, I told him
'indicate in' come to 'a gradual stop'
'go into neutral' and NEVER forget the handbrake,
explaining if he were on a hilly place, the car would
fall back, I was so engrossed in all this,
I was tslking quicker than I was thinking..when I told him..
'and BE SURE the handbrake is properly secured'
'like this' said I, showing him

putting the letter 'W' in place of
'Y' in Yank!!
I was truly mortified!
He looked, saw my mistake and burst out laughing,
and said 'Don't worry, I know you didn't intend that,
I'm only surprised you knew what it meant!!!!' LOL LOL!
I replied...
"My lovely young man, listen..

LOL Grace. What they fail to understand is..we have forgotten more than they will ever know! Funny story and thanks for that.

i was out walking with doggie,
brought old scraps, stale bread,
out of date oatmeal etc for the birds,
when I scattered them in the park
[with Ali safe locked in the car of course]

I was inundated with birds, starving ravenous
ones all coming to be fed,
I felt like the ole lady in 'Mary Poppins'

A lady came by, and we talked she told me
that sea gulls are so hungry they are killing
little sparrows for food these days.

I went to the local shop and brought back a few
bags of seeds,
just wanted to say here, if everyone became
conscious of it and gave a little of their
left overs to the starving birds, it would help

a lot.

There's nothing to me that says 'good morning' to me, than the smell of fresh perculated coffee, and the aroma of frying bacon... AHHHH!!!
