I know they are in Atlantic City as my friend in the RW occasionaly visits them. Sounds good fun. Where would you go to meet up with the couple you met, do they live in your area? Nice when you gel like that, a couple we met on holiday in Portugal were around that age, they were Scottish and really good fun, I nearly died laughing when I saw Peter and this chap singing Kareoke, they sang 'The Wonder of You' and I thought he was taking the Micheal, hahahaha Went to the hairdressers this morning, had my hair done in a 'Vidal Sassoon' type bob, next week I will have steaks put in..... Oh, I decided on a new microwave rather than an iphone, it's being delivered tomorrow, it's a combination microwave so I can use it as a regular oven, and also has a grill, it will be handy and hopefully save on the cooking costs not to mention the time. That's all the news, not very exciting, but all I got....lol Very very nice to see you again.....Much Love from me...<3 Good morning, Lady El ... the couple I met meet at a secure location which has it's own name and is registered with the IRS and has it's own tax ID #(I've already checked it out) and is in close proximity to where my RW BFF lives ... they play all sorts of card games, domino games, Bunko, Farkle and various and assorted board games along with outings at the movie theater or casino trips such as we took ... a very lively group they are ... I felt honored they liked me and my personality to ask me to join their group ... Obviously, I would be the baby of the group but I've always hung out with individuals older than I ... As I said, it's a non-profit organization much like the organization that I'm the co-chairman of which is equivalent to (vice-president) but we call it co-chairman ... we're not as active as this group is but maybe I can get some ideas from the new group I'm thinking of visiting ... sounds like fun to me ... So, you chose the microwave over the iphone ... good choice, less time in the kitchen works for me, ha! The iphones are over-rated anyway ... my smart-phone is smarter than me and I don't think I like that, haha ... About the casinos, I've been to Atlantic City back in the 70s a few times, not sure who owned them back them, been to Gulfpost, Mississippi, Coushatta Louisiana and to the one in Choctaw, Oklahoma ... Now, for sure the Choctaw Casino is owned by the Indians and I suspect the others are as well, but do not quote me on that ... I pretty much suspect it, though!... Nonetheless, it's pretty much fun and I like to visit them ... The baseball playoffs are on ... They've been running late ... The Yankees and Orioles game was well into extra innings (13) last night and tied and FOUR hours when I finally fell asleep ... IDK who won but I certainly hope it was the Orioles!... Justin Verlander was pitching for Detroit against the Oakland A's and were up 2-0 and I hope Detroit won that game ... so much baseball and not enough channels ... NO COMMENT re: the DEBATE between Biden and Ryan ... It's to be 86 today and it's been rather pleasant around here ... My lantana is fully bloomed and beautiful ... Jax is eating the pomegranate falling off the trees and my amaryllis is sprouting some new leaves for some Christmas blooms, hopefully ... Reading the latest 2012 Lee Child book, A Wanted Man ... Taking Jax to the vet for his annual check up ... PoohBear, bless his heart, took to an upper respirator infection ... My live-in pet sitter had the presence of mind to take him to the vet, called me at the casino and I gave her my credit card number to pay for his care and anti-biotics and steroids ... I agree, the example you gave re the woman who witnessed a patient being abused [saw her on SKY] NOW speaks up, I would be annoyed with her for that.. not afraid to go before the people on TV now, but to remain silent then!! and the people in the hosp in charge to remain silent and 'take a chance' Inexcusable,'I' think: Anyway, GREAt you got your MOT, must be a great relief - we have to have ours done every year noe- before it used to be ev 2 years! Yes, the MICROWAVE is an asset, but not for everything as we know. Wishing you a pleasant wkend.. Lovely Autumnal day this side! I would have thouht that the nurse had a public duty to report it wouldn't you Grace, it just doesn't make sense. Whether we believe he is innocent of these allegations or not, people are certainly jumping on the bandwagon.... eleanorigby wrote: <quoted text> Yours too Dear Luke, and hope your car comes out good as new. The MOT is a yearly procedure after the car is 3 years old, it is inspected for road safety. Spent a pleasant hour emptying the boot of things I had forgotten existed. The station is close to Pringle's so I will call in there for a few things, they have a wonderful franchise called Julian Graves where I get all my dried fruits etc., for baking. Have a nice day, hope to speak later. Yep, auto is right as rain. It was regular service (mileage/month interval) and no problems were discovered. Depending on the state, those MOT inspections have been or still continue. When I lived in New Jersey while in military service, state employees/locations did that for vehicles after a certain time in service, and when a used one was just purchased. Indiana had a mandatory vehicle inspection years past, but that program had volunteer participation by what used to be full-service petrol stations with repair facilities, or actual repair garage facilities. That situation was prone to , and in places rife with, cheating.

RMQuinn37 wrote: <quoted text> ....and republicans in Virginia recently passed a controversial voter registration bill alienating senior citizens and minorities and some young folks without passports or drivers licenses so they cannot get out and vote next month. The state of Pennsylvania just recently had their Republican-majority legislature voting I.D. requirement put on hold by that state's Supreme Court for this election. Indiana has had the requirement for an least the election in 2008, and possibly in 2004. I just don't recall. Personally, I have no qualms about it, on it's basic premise. With a bit more thought than most put into the subject, the most potential effect voter fraud has is not on presidential election, but with increasing effect from Congressional results, state office, city, and county numbers. BUT: 1. in the various states that implement this, there have been reports about the types of documentation for the govt. picture I.D., confusion in dispersing the info depending on the location/personnel on staff. Folks often do not have an original birth certificate, and that type thing. Some states (try to) charge for the I.D.(when it's not a drivers license). Indiana's non-driver I.D. is free. It can be obtained at state drivers license branches, and surely the county courthouse. 2. difficulty of the elderly, and others in getting to those locations. 3. as no govt. staff that I'm aware of go out and register and pass out I.D. cards to those who have that difficulty ... there are the local party organizations that do so, or political party structures hire contracted vendors to do so. In recent news, improper registrations in Florida were discovered using a vendor. 4. Absentee voters MUST pass as rigorous requirement as anyone else. I'm not so sure that is the case.

franko wrote: <quoted text>interesting that you mentioned that. I happened upon a business today, as part of my sales job ... that bought and sold LP's ... I had a good talk with him about how they value the records. He siad if the albums are the more common records sold in the 70's to 90's they won't fetch much ... between $3 to $8 ... this is because everybody owns them or can get the CD versions ... If yuo cannot get them on CD you might get $10. If it is something more uncommon, like a 60's or early 70's troggs or Pink Floyd Album, you might get $15 to $25 ... Actually he says that the afficionados like to collect Jazz, soul, blues, and first releases of albums like Johnny cash, john Lennon, and others who havve passed away. Those will fetch $25 to $100 and up depending on how rare. also if you have an album released in some foreign country, like Japan, with the album cover being unique to that country, then you might have something worth a bit . for example the band Cheap Trick performed in Japan and you can buy the live album as pubished here ... and that won't get yuo $10 ... but if yuo have the Japanese release you might get $50 or more.... You do need to do some research to estimate the value of your LP's Just to contribute to the general topic of vinyl LPs owned ... I took care of my modest collection with some diligence, including replacing paper sleeves with the plastic ones. At some point in time, because of moving, and not properly storing, and the priority decisions of providing room for other things in the living space we had ... and prior .. when the collection was placed where our cat had access to using album jackets (at the alphabetic end where The Beatles and others were ) as a scratching post (wife covered that fact up as long as she could) <sigh>

I was invited to choose my grandaughter's name when she was born, and chose that as it is my favourite. Sadly, her parent's invited me to choose another which I did.

Age, sex and race discrimination still continue irrespective of laws, laws on the books are still enforced to keep some people at a disadvantage --- my husband could hit El and it's called assault or assault & battery, but if he hits me its a "domestic dispute" and the police won't get involved. I must amend the last a bit. In more recent years, more and more states have laws that address the domestic violence issues, and the communities police must get involved with a mandatory arrest of one party or the other, or both.
