DENNY...
regrettably I thought of you when reading this article in today's newspaper.
A designer has put on the market clutches (purses) made from Deer skin.
Her husband is a deer stalker, shoots the animal, provides her with the
skin.
Needless to say the Animal Welfare group are up in arms.
Their argument is, the skin would be incinerated otherwise, so it is a good thing.
My argument is, they both want shooting.
I don't tan the hide but if I take it to have processed they sell the hide. Better than any part going to waste. The term buck for money started with using the tanned hide in trade. Nothing new there. Deer skin gloves are very nice

'Morning Denny...oh, I do that, or at least food related, currently I am engrossed in a book
which analyses food we eat, the source, the fact it is good for one....better than ever novel!
Last night's read changed my eating habits, I am giving up my Soya milk for Organic Full
Fat milk, hardly any difference in the fat content but helluva lot in the taste, and Soya is
mostly responisble for deforestisation and all the harm it does. So if your coffee in the
kitchen tastes different today...:)
El I love fresh full fat milk. You can't buy it here and it is not as common in the stores in England. I love when you have to shake up the bottle to mix the creme back in the milk. They have now reversed a lot of the ideas on fats being bad for you

Good Morning Denny....already cold and rainy here..(: funnily enough, not unpleasant.

My comments above......it would appear the husband shoots them to order,,,unlike
your own methods.

Absolutely far better than any of it going to waste.(can hardly believe I am having this conversation) lol but isn' that how the Native Americans dealt with anything they killed.

Funny how tastes change. My first husband was an engineering surveyor in the bush and when he came home he brought me back a crocodile skin handbag which I loved. I would be ashamed to have it now we are more enlightened.(I was 19)

However, deer skin gloves DO sound nice...:)

I have known people like that. I remember when a very accomplished front man in a well known
group died of Aids, some said he 'asked for it' because he was gay. It never ceases to amaze me how callous some people can be.

So,... last winter was one of the most brutal I'd seen in over twenty plus years.
This summer is the most mild and wonderful I've seen in that amount of time as well.
My newest neighborhood ... dang.
Today the sun is HOT at 9 a.m. This week Summer finally HIT us hard. In the night 90's
with index feeling like 101-0Five. Owwww
Got me a cute little pool though and I do spent many hours in it .. at all hours of the day and night.
I'm nervous ... thinking how quickly the season will change to the next.*hmmm

Good afternoon sweetpea :) The garage sales are slow with this 100 degree heat. As soon as it cools off I will have one so I can get my garage back. I still have 300 pair of new shoes and over 200 items of new clothes to sell.

remember when I said that the buffalo slaughter of yester year was a good thing

and you went against ....

DENNY: The U.S. deer population has expanded to more than 25 million, from less than 500,000 at the turn of the century. This proliferation shows no sign of slowing, because there are few natural deer predators. The problem is most severe in suburban communities where humans and deer compete for limited natural habitat.

In the United States deer browse causes an estimated $750 million in damage to forest regeneration programs.Besides immediate browse damage, residual problems include: growth suppression, future yield reductions, growth deformities, regeneration delays and plant mortality where plants are repeatedly browsed or pulled out of the ground. This is a cost the forest indsutry can no longer afford.

Showing my age Tally,
When young I used to go to town with a gallon
and the milk would be ladled out of the churn into
the gallon, it used to be warm and fresh.
on the way home I used to take a slug of
milk out the the gallon:) tho' mother WARNED me NOT
to touch it.
lol

We drank milk that way for ages,
Didn't"t kill us either:)

Never heard of pasteurisation back then!!!

Good Morning All Kitcheneers (holding on to DW's phrase for him)..:)

GRACE.....lovely story about the milk churn. We would have our weekends and school
holidays in the Cheshire countryside, and I remember the farmer on the left hand side
of the railway line, would put a churn at the end of the lane for folk to take their milk jugs
to help themselves. A nice way of life.

The whole milk which I now have is of course pasteurised. A friend locally has Goat's
milk, unpasturised, although it can be obtained pasteurised, believing it good for the
heart.

T/Y TRISH for such an awesome video.

and to SIR TALLY....some really cool vids there, enjoyed 'em vm

Greetings to VEE.... DENNY.....PRINCESS HEY....LIM.....

Around Austin in the hill country it is dangerous to drive at night. Over population make very small deer. Proper deer management is good for the deer too.

Such a pretty picture> a churn at the end of the lane:)

I also meant to say, at the end when the gallon was nearly
full he added what they called a TILLY, which meant a little
bit extra for good luck! did you folks have that El?
or anyone else here??
