Good morning El and Grace. I hope your weekend is going great. I am getting spoiled with this wonderful mild weather. In August it is normally our hottest month with lots of days over 100. I may have got a new listing yesterday at a garage sale. I went and talked to the woman. She was set up with another agent but had signed no contract so I do have a good chance. I had a good garage sale day. Best buy was 2 western holsters and a shoulder holster all like new and worth about $350 and I paid $50. They should sell quick at a garage sale. One had a price tag on it priced at $55 but that was from 1991 and they sell for a lot more today
Good Morning Denny. Interesting 'finds'....I expect the sort of thing you would expect to
find in Texas, I dunno. Quality doesn't deteriorate if looked after....so you should be able
to make a profit no problem.
Fingers crossed for the listing....hope you won her over!

I would love to take you to a gun show. Lots of very polite people because everyone is probably armed. You see all kinds of things, not only guns. Beautiful craft items, collector items. I had a canteen from WW1 that looked new. Lots of people collect military items, I also had a trench knife from WW1. You even see machine guns on big tripod mounts. You need a class 3 license to buy one of those. To own a machine gun you need to pay $200. Now when the gun control act was passed about 1934 you could buy a Thompson machine gun from Sears for $125 so you can see the tax was huge back in the day. A $2 silencer had the same $200 tax. All the tragic deaths here like Waco . 83 people were killed over a $200 tax. Randy Weaver in Idaho had his son and wife murdered over a $200 tax on a shotgun that was 3/8 of an inch to short in the stock. We used to have no federal agents that were armed other than US marshals. The FBI got to carry guns around 1920. Today nearly every government agency is armed. I like armed citizens not an armed government

Good Afternoon Grace,
It tends to soften the blow a little when a funeral is so well conducted.....
I remember our brothers passed within a short time of each other, a
very sad time.
I 'took part' in such a funeral some years ago here in Wales, I was invitied
to do so naturally!..:) It was a jolly affair. A band from New Orleans did the
honours, didn't know the deceased, so did not know the connection if any.
Anyways, has been really cold here this morning, in fact I put the heating on
when I came in....
O, El
I love that NEW ORLEANS band affect,
On.y ever saw it in the movies, but
It fits SO well.!

I should've added...
We over here do funerals VERY well, no complaints,
But I must admit(from experience of here and the UK...
England takes the prize!

Yes, a better day indeed here too..

That's a very nice thought Denny and thanks. I do appreciate good craftmanship there is
no doubt. Not sure I could separate my feelings of the weapons with that of my distaste
(fear) of them.....and I should hate to have to be polite out of intimidation. Just not used to
being amongst people armed is all Denny.

Good Morning Sir Tally.....

The only prayer I am ever likely to send up (and I believe you
are referring to the Gaza/Israel outrage)..would be to pray
that they are forgiven for what they do.

It was nice Grace, although seemed a bit extravagent to have
a band come over 5,000 to play at one's funeral. Presumptious
even.
If that were me, I would prefer to leave the money to a deserving
cause and just 'go quietly'....I am not that into myself I would want
such a performance.

NEVER DREAMED it would cost SO much.

Kinda didn't think of that aspect!

Grace. I was of course referring to having a band fly in
from such a distance, nothing more. For other people
it is completely up to their own wishes.

I have had bad experiences at funerals just to explain
my own views, the occasional happy one if you say
that also. I will leave it at that, but certainly didn't man
to critisise others choices.

When my Dad died he told me he wanted " Please don't talk about me when I am gone" played. I expected the organist to play something soft. They told me they could find no sheet music but had a CD. They played it and it was by Louis Armstrong and it was in the loud raucous jazz style. My Dad would have loved it :)

El this is not an open carry state for a handgun. That is what makes concealed carry such a great preventive of crime. The criminal never knows if the person he is going to attack is armed. It tends to make them think twice with so many armed Texans

Hi El and everybody.
I miss you, but this computer doesn't work in Topix. It has taken me over 20 minutes to get here and type this.
Glad to see you are all doing well.

Happeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee SINday one and all!!!!!! I have come to the very conclusion that Murphy is a doofus. He used his head to smash my sister in the face, her tooth went into her lip. ME???? Not taking any chances. I use a catchers mit around him and am safe from external injuries. It serves a two-way purpose, am also ready for baseball at any given moment. Clumsy dog and no sense or feeling.

Great to hear from you Vee,
Yes indeed that's sound advice re where one leaves
their animals, especially when such creatures have no voice,
They are so open to being taken advantage of.
In another life it WOULD indeed be such a fine idea...
that you..El.. Myself get together and do
Animal care...too old now> speaking foe ME:)
Sounds like a very fine specimen of a dog you
got there.
Hope you get some 'me time' this weekend!
I went to get my sister a Pepper Spray key ring (free from a defense shop) and they are NOT open on Sunday. Not only does she need to have this while she is at the doggy park with Murphy, but just walking Murphy around the area, stray dogs jumping out from everywhere with no leash, of course. Have a leash law but people do not give a rat's ass. She could easily be mauled by who-knows-what. She wants to get this horn blaster, I know you know what they are, you blow the horn on anyone unsuspecting and they become airbourne to other countries
