Supreme Court has two fundamental functions. On the one hand, it must interpret and expound all congressional enactments brought before it in proper cases; in this respect its role parallels that of the state courts of final resort in making the decisive interpretation of state law. On the other hand, the Supreme Court has power (superseding that of all other courts) to examine federal and state statutes and executive actions to determine whether they conform to the U.S. Constitution.

Like a baseball game.... if you are the pitcher it is a strike , if you are the batter it is a ball.. the umpire decides which.... so like the supreme courts no matter what he calls one side or the other thinks he is wrong

Very interesting post, El..
The awful thought is no one knows what goes on behind closed doors.
You dealt with it the right way though.
Having a nice time with my son,
He has gone off with his own pals tonight..
and has 2more days left.
Weather still very humid but raining here now,
Still cannot complain.
Have a restful weekend El, if you can:)
'Morning Grace....well, it's a beautiful morning here, rained all day
yesterday and thankful for it, had a restful day, this morning is one
of those where everything is 'in relief' & raindrops hanging on to
every plant for dear life! Off to town shortly quick trip down and
back, hope this weather holds up. Have a lovely weekend G...:)

Hello Love (Manchester Greeting)- Thank You - I'd love to join you for a Full English - the Full English is much better in my opinion than a Full Welsh - I'm not a fan of any kind of bread or cakes made with seaweed - so the Full English sounds delightful!:)
Cheers!:)
'Morning Love (Manchester Greeting)...you don't like bread with seaweed then..you do
surprise me. haha And Bara Brith is out...sheesh! Full English it is then, you'll have
some Black Pudding with that?! Have a nice weekend TC...:)

Good afternoon El &Tally,

Others gone gallivanting, I have a kind of day off today
Tired from entertaining the masses, like the Queen-
(I don't think:)

I don't honestly know what to think about ROLF HARRIS
- apart from the horror of it all, his victims and his family,
some of whom look, jaded, drawn and worn..
from TV pics yesterday as he went to Court to receive
his sentence.

He was part of 'my' life..
always on TV, it seemed, either singing, teaching,
painting, chatting, entertaining..
one felt comfortable with him in the background,
like you would around your favourite
calming wallpaper..
only to find NOWafter all the years later,
he was/is an Arch Pedophile ..
a clever deviant..

stripped of his awards and honours

disgraced in his 80's...

WOW!

WOW!
A talented artist/artiste and quite a shock to his 'public' to hear
of his sordid past. It makes one wonder if any of this would
have come to light had it not been for the Jimmy Saville revelations.
The fact is he committed these acts of indecency and in the
Autumn of his years he is to pay the price.
A very sad article in the Daily Mail yesterday, written by a columnist
who was a personal friend, who, in hindsight, has seen how he 'groomed'
her by befriending her family...a known ploy of the pedophile, disclosed
at this late date.
There is no doubt he took advantage of his position in the limelight, but
I tend to think myself, that people like him are thrown into a glamorous
world and the temptations are there, there are few saints left in this world.
But in view of the recording he made stating that 'children should be
protected' then it seems he is a hyprocrite of the first order and is in
the right place.
Any sympathy I have is for his family, and any 'victims' who were seriously
affected by his actions.

I can fix you raisin toast, even stretch to the honey butter....but hey, what happened
to you being this side of the counter lately?...:) Oh and, still making roast chicken
in the manner you recommended, can't beat it.
Same old news, I agree, this morning news has broken that a Peer is being investigated.

Further on the Rolf Harris 'case'...household names are now
coming forward claiming they were 'groped' in the early days.
Does it not occurr to these people that had they come forward
earlier, it could possibly have prevented any further 'victims'
being so abused.
I would also add, if I had pound for every time I was groped in
the profession I once had, I would be a very wealthy woman
by now. It goes with the territory and you live and learn.
Unless there are genuine cases of severe trauma due to
their experiences, I suggest they get over it, the man is
doing his punishment now, isn't that enough already, instead
of crawling out of the woodwork for compensation.

Tea with milk and sugar please. We have been gone for two days and there is no place like home. We went to Oklahoma for my nephews fireworks. It is the first time we have seen it but I was amazed. He had a 20 minute professional quality show. I have seen towns that had no better. His wife got him a very serious BBQ smoker for his birthday. It is really beautiful. It is built on a red trailer that you can pull on the road. Then it was made from an 8 foot propane tank with an upright fire box for smoking meat along with a great grill. Along the bacside it has a built in beer dispenser and the whole thing is done in a revolutionary war theme with muskets for trim. Big chrome smoke stacks and a chrome bell. I have never seen anything to match it. It looks like something made for competitive BBQ competitions. In Texas and Oklahoma BBQ is taken very seriously. There are different cook offs around the state for serious cash prizes :)

A grandma was ruthlessly beaten in a Walmart parking lot Friday for her purse as onlookers stood idle and watched, some filming the event.

The mugger was persistent, hitting Inga Evans repeatedly until she was knocked to the ground, finally letting go of her purse.

Nobody helped, Evans told KDAF.They all just had their cell phones going. Just shooting.

You know, that's very true..
there are bound to be folks 'hopping on the band wagon'
so to speak..

It is right> they should close the gates on it now-
He was found guilty, he IS doing his time,
as you say.

Like you add too, El, we all remember such times past..
ie > being in the cinema, some old 'weirdo' sitting next to you
starts feeling your leg!
NONE of us (back then) stood in the isle demanding compo..
We just moved to another seat! respecting ourselves.
