GRACE.

I read this only this morning, I immediately thought of you and
your love of Nature. It is part of a RSPB advert in my colour
supplement.

'If there's no home for nature'

"There will be no evening starling chatter
Nor swifts left to soar.
Tere will be no hedgehogs nestled in your garden
No woodlands to explore.

Spring will pass without a bluebell
And June without a bee
Butterflies will flounder
And the birds without a tree.

If there's no home for nature
The wonders on our doorstep will disappear
There will be no place to play
No meadows. No moorlands. No wildernesses. No adventure.

If there's no home for nature,
There will be no nature."

Like yourself, I appreciate the nature on our doorstep, we are so
blessed by the beauty of it.

El I thing the English are more trusting of their media. You may not believe this but Chelsea Clinton works for NBC news as a part time journalist. She is paid $600,000 a year. Do you think NBC is in the tank for the Clintons and the Democrat party. It is a joke to say NBC has a news report

Good gawd Ewing-Crain! This tripe -- aside from the skeletal factual part that Clinton is a part-time journalist at NBC -- belongs better on your own thread and reinforces your status as a complete fool, tosser, and wanker.

For those who don't know much about Jenna Bush, daughter of Pres. and Mrs. George W. Bush (Republican President -- and former governor of Texas -- succeeding Pres. Clinton and preceding Pres. Obama), she's been an NBC News anchor/correspondent since 2009:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jenna_Bush_Hager

She and her sister Barbara were the first twin children of a U.S. president. Hager is an author, an editor-at-large for Southern Living magazine, a special correspondent for NBC's Today Show and a contributor to NBC Nightly News .[3]

NBC News correspondent

In August 2009, NBC hired Hager as a new correspondent for the morning television show Today. Her role is to contribute stories about once a month on issues such as education.[3] On April 19, 2010, Hager interviewed former President Bill Clinton and discussed Haiti and his daughter Chelsea's upcoming marriage.[28] She also helps out with NBC News's Education Nation segments on all platforms of NBC and fills-in as co-anchor and "Orange Room anchor" on Today. She is also a contributor and a substitute anchor on NBC Nightly News.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelsea_Clinton

In November 2011, NBC announced that they hired Clinton as a special correspondent. One of her roles was reporting feature stories about "Making a Difference" for NBC Nightly News and Rock Center with Brian Williams. It was a three-month contract and allowed her to concurrently continue working for the Clinton Foundation and pursue her education.[40][41] Clinton's first appearance was on the December 12, 2011, episode of Rock Center.[42] Although she received some critical reviews for her work, Clinton's contract with NBC was renewed in February 2012.[43][44][45] Rock Center ended in May 2013.

This is the most beautiful memorial and thanks so much for this link, as always,
extremely interesting. Huge losses for the City (as it was) of Bedford, to lose
19 men on June 6th 1944 and 3 more men at Normandy, proportionaly high
for the size of the population. Interesting also to learn how the memorial came
into being....thanks again for this info.

A Very Warm Welcome Back Deer Luke.....it's a treat to see you here believe me.
Really missed your presence and not just saying that to be polite.
I remember your birthdate as it is the same as my eldest brother's.
I hope you had a very enjoyable meal out with your daughters yesterday....:)
Father's Day today here...P's eldest travelled over from Windsor last week,
and 'phone calls today from his daughter and youngest son..
I remember the time when living the other side of the same town was about as
far as families were apart....that's progress for ya!...:)
Thank you, El.'Twas a fine time and enjoyed that time. Was gifted with the DVD of the movie Rush, the bio-drama of a Formula 1 season battle between James Hunt and Nikki Lauda in the '70s, and the series DVD set of the recently broadcast (on FOX and National Geographic networks) "Cosmos -- A Space Time Continuum" PLUS the DVD set of the original series seen on PBS in early '80s. "Cosmos".

"That time" -- I told them their best gift was the time with them :)

Yesterday eve connected with the eldest at the Big City, and will trek to the Indianapolis area to visit with them on my birthday.

Wonderful that Mr. P had connections as well. I'm chuffed that I share the birthdate with someone you hold dear.

It's compelling, almost mandatory, to be here as is frequently evident. But it's a fine line -- it really ain't my thing to be an on-going bickering bitch to refute, renounce hackery and dis/mis-information.

I've "Secrets of Scotland Yard" on PBS right now -- origin and early history. Seen it before, but still interesting. Explains why the name "bobbies" (also "peelies") for the police constables.

Gotta run -- minutes from now is a new mystery production on PBS Masterpiece.

Yes? In their ceremonial dress of course which they wouldn't wear normally.

I am not one for Pomp and Circumstance myself, strangely enough. But I have
fond memories of my wonderful neighbours and friends when I lived in NJ
who would pick up the 'phone to let me know if there was anything appertaining
to England on the box....could have been ceromonies, might have been The Beatles,
bu the thought was there, I couldn't have had better people around me anywhere.
Miss them to this day.

But that was then, and times change, to my way of thinking the money spent on
these ceromonies would be better employed feeding the poor.

But that's just me.

I bet Her Majesty would have been just as happy with a little cake on her
birthday. lol

'Morning Luke.....again, much of which I was not aware.

Know what you mean about doubling up birthdates with other notable dates.
P's b'day is Christmas Eve....

You 'put me on' to PBS before and I really must check it out again, seems
there are brill programmes to be had on there.

I know what I wanted to mention...I expect you are aware that 'Private Winter'
of Band of Brothers fame, has been honoured in the Queen's Birthday List.

Referring to Damien Lewis...

Lewis was born in St John's Wood, London, the son of Charlotte Mary (née Bowater) and J. Watcyn Lewis, a city broker.[2][3] His paternal grandparents were Welsh.[4] His maternal grandfather was Lord Mayor of London Sir Ian Bowater and his maternal grandmother's ancestors include Lord Dawson of Penn (a doctor to the British Royal Family) and philanthropist Alfred Yarrow.[2][5] He has stated that he "went to English boarding schools and grew up around people very much like Soames and in a milieu very much like the Forsytes'".[6]

As a child, Lewis made several visits to the United States to visit relatives during his summers.[7][8] He first decided to become an actor at age 16.[3] He was educated at the independent Ashdown House School in Forest Row, East Sussex, and at Eton College. He graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1993, after which he served as a stage actor for the Royal Shakespeare Company. During his time with the RSC, he played Borgheim in Adrian Noble's production of Henrik Ibsen's Little Eyolf and Posthumus in William Shakespeare's Cymbeline. He also starred in another of Ibsen's plays, as Karsten Bernick in Pillars of the Community at the National Theatre in November 2005.[9]

YW Grace....thought you would enjoy.

I wonder how the people responsible for the little boy being caught
up in the middle of their drug wars, feel about him being shot?
If they have any sort of conscience, remorse.
Terrible thing, I did make a point of finding out how he was doing
but thanks for the update Grace, to be hoped he makes a full
recovery, although no doubt it will be with him mentally forever.

Beautiful day here.....out to water the containers.
