im a little younger than the average person I suppose, made the decision for several reasons - and yesterday I realized it was a good decision, times short, im in the last stage of my life.
I found out a friend of ours passed the other day, another has cancer and was given 2 weeks to live,- good reasons to enjoy whatever time is left, so I intend to do just that.
ive been lucky in life, love, family and friends - so I plan on living the rest of my days with the important things in life..
:]
The only thing we really have is time. Once you have enough money that you don't have to worry about anything why not relax and enjoy life. I had a good garage sale day. I bought a $600 pair of ziess binoculars for $100. They are like new and in the box. My birthday is the 19th so I bought myself a present :)

Good Morning Denny....that morning sounded perfect, did you get temps as high
as you anticipated later in the day, sounds a bit too warm for my liking...:)
Today has been gorgeous, I took my pot of tea out onto the patio at 9 a.m
after breakfast and the sun was really hot, had to be about 70 rough guess,
put my factor 30 on my face and wore my big sun hat, lol.
Cooling down a lot now but still pleasant....
Hi El! I am afraid from now till October it will be in the 90s and 100s. We usually have 20 to 30 days over 100 :( Texas isn't in hell but it is next door :) I can't believe I have live here since 1986 and didn't know one of the top 2 BBQ joints is 5 miles away. I drive by often but had no idea it is so very good. It is a take out only shack in a bad part of town but the crowds start building when they open at 10:30 and they run out by 1:00 YUM!

Amen to that D,
You've got your priorities right..
It is how I see it too..
I know some people with young families
Find it hard to makes ends meet,
And I'm not referring to them here,
but others walk around blindly...

I know there's a saying>

'Wake up and smell the flowers'
others laugh at it, but... it's so true,
It's being conscious of all

people continue to live in an artificial world...
and worry about superficial things.

I dont have the time to search for my celebrity thread and so I wanted to post here that Ruby Dee died. What a tremendous actress she was. She lost her soul mate years ago, ossie davis, and they were inseparatable. Talk about a perfect match, and so was jessica Tandy and Hugh Cronyn. Another crazy thing about the lap top, if I get this far, it does now scroll down any further to the box to imput the number to post comments. It is wierd.
Hiya Vee!

Must say, I haven't heard of Ruby Dee..
She sounds great by what you said..
What movies was she in?
It's always hard to lose one of the important actors/actresses..

Defend bad luck about the ailing computer ..

Good Morning Guys and Gals,

well it's another beautiful morning here in the Principality.....
the sun is shining and it promises to be a scorcher by our
standards, was 23C yesterday, just nice,

This could be our Summer, so about to get out there and
enjoy it, wanted to wish everyone a great weekend....

saddened to hear about Ruby Dee......not familiar but will
look up.

Very sad news coming from DUBLIN about the child shot in the neck.

Good morning El and Grace. Drug shotting are so common in Chicago where it is extremely difficul and nearly impossible to get a carry permit. In those big cities that have stron gun laws these shooting are a lot more common.. There is now way to remove guns from criminals. You can only take them away from honest citizens

Afternoon/morning al (depending on which side of the pond you are. Another good day - had my annual cholesterol check results today and it's lower than it's ever been. Wonderful thing these statins! Ironically, over the last year, I've eaten all the high fat foods to try to keep up the weight during treatment, so was not expecting this result. Another beautiful weekend teaching on the Thames and even managed to get to a West End show (The Commitments) on Sat night. Off for 10 days competing on a 37' yacht on Thursday, so see you all in early June.
Great good news, and for that yachting was all you hoped.

Hi El
well looks like we sold the house.
not sure exactly now how I feel about that,
happy and sad at the same time. we've been at this place for a lil over 23 yrs... so many memories..
ive always had a hard time with change. now hubby could care less, keeps telling me its just a thing and that our life and family are the heart of the home. I know hes right.
so I guess its, out with the old - in with the new..
so why do I feel like crying..
:/
Congratulations Pretty Feet! Hopefully, your new place is a condo that includes services such as yard work, and maid service -- like vacuuming, dusting, etc !

I'd be happy about that!

I will in the future be thinking about change of that nature, I'm sure.

Good on ya for your new life !:)

Saw several outstanding programs relative to the 70th anniversary of D-Day. One of them includes these related factoids about which American town suffered the most D-Day killed-in-action per capita than any other, being at the "point of the spear" that fateful morning.

And that is why our National D-Day Memorial is located in Bedford, Virginia.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_D-Day_M...

The National D-Day Memorial is a war memorial located in Bedford, Virginia. It serves as the national memorial for American D-Day veterans. However, its scope is international in that it states, "In Tribute to the valor, fidelity and sacrifice of Allied Forces on D-Day, June 6, 1944" and commends all Allied Armed Forces during the D-Day invasion of Normandy, France on June 6, 1944 during World War II.[1]

The memorial, bordering the Blue Ridge Mountains in southwestern Virginia, is an area comprising 88 acres (360,000 m2) that overlooks the town of Bedford. It officially opened on June 6, 2001 with 15,000 people present, one of whom was then-President George W. Bush.[2] About 70,000 people have visited the memorial each year. Of those, more than half are from outside of Virginia. Bedford was selected for the National D-Day memorial because the town suffered the greatest per capita loss of life during the invasion of any town in the country.[3]
