Take it away, Crain. You're in charge. What's your massive military intervention strategy?
The western world's countries support as it is now isn't to your liking, I take it. U.S. is assisting with non-combat specialists (why shouldn't we understand the high possibility of our CIA and/or covert Special Forces already being deployed) and reconnaisance materiel. Aren't there other western countries on board.
We don't have the lead here, nor should we without Nigeria turning it over to us, or to whoever Nigeria would accede for military and diplomatic assets.
Your rant about the First Mother is utterly pathetic. It's fitting and proper for her role articulated to rally hearts and minds behind the actions; and to involve hearts and minds in the world concerns and the Twitter-verse of world scope about this sorry situation.
It is all about symbolism over substance. Tweets just make you feel good like you are actually doing something. This is a carefully staged performance by Michelle. As for Massive military intervention we nor England doesn't have a dog in that fight. The Nigerian government has that problem and they are doing nothing about protecting their citizens. Obama and Hillary refused to identify this group as terrorist. Move on .org a democrat group also was opposed to identify the group as terrorist before the kidnapping

This is very touching. You're shaken more than when 20 first graders and 6 six teachers were slain; where your concerns articulated then was out of the NRA playbook, particularly concerned about more gun laws.
BUT, I have real problems on two counts, stemming from an anonymous source.
Integrity my ass. Why is this anonymous?:
1. More than likely this is being passed around in right-wing email/newsletters as has been with MUCH quarter-baked "truths", and/or outright falsehoods in content and/or origins of these "truths".
2. IF it is an active military member, this officer has violated his duty and Uniform Code of Military Justice.
Such a hero in either 1 or 2.
Semper fi.
The only way to stop a mass shooting is a good person with a gun. All these shooting take place in gun free zones. The cowards go where they know no one else is armed. In Texas it was illegal to carry a gun in church by someone with a carry permit. After a mass shooting in a church the law was changed and I guarantee in nearly every church one or more of the members is armed. One headline you will never see is mass shooting at a gun show or a cop bar

True, decisions in the midst of conflict,,,it's like the armchair critics that have never faced conflict berating mistakes on the field..When I had a chat with Denny on his visit the little bit I did speak about was that engaging an enemy say three hundred metres away is a lot different to looking them straight in the eyes with cold steel at the end of your rifle,at three hundred metre you don't see the light go out their eyes...Plays on my mind a lot and no traumatic stress thing they have now..

On a happier note a lovely warm day here on the south coast, the smell of the sea on the breeze, fab day..

McNamara was a true genius and made huge profits for Ford automotive but he knew nothing of the military or war. He deduced how many bullets it took fired to kill how many enemy. He was also big on body counts and tied them to R&R. You want large numbers so they gave the bean counter large numbers. Bean counters don't make good strategist

An action of symbolism is an additional action. There is symbolism all over the U.S. political ma, and it's exploited profusely by all. There is symbolism in our individual pysches. It's a tie that binds. There is important symbolism in world geopolitics for much of the same reasons and prospects.

And it pertains to communication of those ties that bind.

It doesn't matter if the First Lady is an Obama, a Bush (both), a Clinton, a Reagan, a Kennedy ... etc. meaning the ones I didn't list.

Yes, the film-maker chose the title for that very theme in McNamara's plea for understanding.

That very difficulty in decision-making at strategic, tactical, operational, and policy levels is boiled down to information available (or not) which includes intelligence, reconnaisance, and communication factors.
