Hi Denny......I only ever saw Alan Ladd in that one movie...I try not to think of
him being short, lol. Same with Tom Cruise, wonderful actor, doesn't seem to
have held him back at all. I dare say I am 'old school' though, I like my leading
men to be tall!
Hello eleanorigby and hope your Christmas was joyful. I always loved westerns, too. I remember the 60s western series "The Rifleman" and "Cheyenne". Don't know if you have ever seen any of those episodes but Chuck Connors who played Lucas Mccain and Clint Walker who played Cheyenne, were both tall handsome hunks. Wishing you and yours a healthy and happy New Year!

'Elecity'.....nice story Grace. Reminds me of an old chap I had as a neighbour
one time, who was an electrician in the quarry, known locally as 'PLUG' in
the endearing manner the Welsh have for nicknames.
As for the link....that little girl is quite amazing, and one of those 'links' that one
feels all the richer for having seen. I certainly did and thanks for sharing that.
LOL
same here, great nicknames particularly in rural areas,
there was another chap who had very bandy legs
and walked like a cowboy, they called him 'COMPASS' lol.

Agreed about the link, glad you enjoyed it.
Sorry to hear you folks are getting such a battering
weather wise, calmer here just now.

So sad about 'Schumacher'... Fingers crossed for him.

Happy day everyone.

Hello Chic....it was indeed, Christmas was lovely, and I sincerely hope yours was too.
It's funny, I haven't watched a western in years, and have been on the look-out on
the tv to find 'The Alamo' is on this afternoon, it's miserable out so am going to put
feet up and watch it, or at least half and record the rest for later as it a long 'un.

Isn't Chuck Connors the 'martial arts cowboy'? now not familar with Clint Walker,
but will look him up, ah, those were the days men were men!

A Very Happy and Healthy New Year to you and yours too, with an abundance of Peace.

LOL...poor feller, hope he wasn't aware of his nickname lol.

Bit different here, as the nicknames were to define one's trade, or where they
came from, like there were two Elwyns in the village so to differentiate one
was called Elwyn Milk, and the other Elwyn Slate, but in Welsh, quite sweet I think.
It's been horrendous overnight Grace, wondered if it was as bad in Ireland, so
glad to hear it has calmed down, hope that Krypteia and Tony are okay, wicked
down South.

Very sad about Schumacher, and how ironic after all the risks he took driving.
They say this will be his biggest battle..to survive.

Tom Cruise was a good Jack Reacher considering that Reacher was 6'4" and 250 pounds :) He played a great tough guy. There are over a dozen Reacher books so I hope we see more of him

Chuck Connors played pro baseball. A big good looking guy and a hell of a first baseman

Looked him up on Wikipedia.....as you say, some baseman, played for the New York Dodgers.
wonderful what you can learn on the net. I must, must see The Rifleman.....
This afternoon watched the first half of The Alamo.....believe it or not, amazed to see
Davy Crockett there! And Jim Bowie....see how much I know of American history!
P has spoilt it by telling me that they all die there, he thought I knew, anyway, will catch up with the second half later.
John Wayne is absolutely superb in it, as is Laurence Harvey, in fact all those who star in it.
Better dash, just preparing dinner.

no but I got through it .. that's good enough some days ...

WHo would have thought that a simple incompatability of TV to Sound bar would cause such stress!! Most annoying of alll .. the "DO I LOOK LIKE I CARE" expression on the fAce of the guy at the Future Shop ....

Our little island is taking a battering from the weather, power
is on/off.....flood alerts over the country.
Keeping my fingers crossed that the repairs we have made
to the previous damage have not been undone with this latest
storm. Apparently we are to have a month of such weather.
I pity the poor souls who have been without power since Christmas Eve, our loss has at least been intermittent.
D,y'all have a good Christmas?
Almost New Year folks, looks like it will be coming in with a vengeance here.
Anyway....not forgotten the Kitchen and all the good folk who collect here, just been under some pressure with maintenance around the place.
what a wild winter so far ... they had ice storms in eastern canada that knocked out power for hundreds of thousands of poeple ....]

I hope they dropped the anchors so your poor island would not be blown aaaway???

I hope this is the last of the big storms for the UK this winter .....

Thanks Franko.....actually it was rather funny, as in an earlier post of yours you said something about stress...at the time everything was totally in hand, lol.
Well, that aside, I hope you and yours had a very enjoyable time over Christmas,
the girls must be growing up by now, time flies.
XMAS was good .. thanks .. yep those girls are growing up and as they say "the bigger they get the bigger the problems" .... the older one is now 20, lives with her BF, goes to university and works part time ... plus other stressful issues I won't get into ... needless to say, she is getting a look at adult life now. To her credit she is learning to handle it better than I expected.
