Didn't it say on the news the worst storm in Ireland ever Grace.
Hope it's on it's way out this evening, as it seems to be here.
Gales of 109 mph recorded here.
Mrs Brown's Boys always seems to combine both humour and pathos,
the Christmas show didn't disappoint.
What's this about 'laze about'?! I wish, lol
Never known such damage as last night, but, could have been worse.
Yes indeed El..
one of the worst, thankfully we didn't
lose
the 'ELECITY' lol

[explained to DW THE JOKE about the old lady who used
that word for ELECTRICITY:)

The gales were/still are very severe..we don't normally
get high winds at Christmas.

Still being in holiday mood,
here is one of the very cutest videos I saw
this year, it was posted on another Offbeat thread.

The little girl is using sign language
for her deaf parents..

SO very cute, they sing 4 little Christmas songs.
several people said *she* should have done the
job at MANDELA'S funeral! lol

I couldn't tell you how incredibly cheered I was to see so many
friends here over the Christmas period, and I hope you all have had
a most enjoyable Christmas as we have.
There was no way I was going to regale y'all with the few glitches
which came our way prior to the big day itself, but here goes,
you may forgive me for my absence in replying individually to all
your most welcome posts.
Everything was cool, no stress in the slightest, until I headed for the
last minute grocery shopping to find I had left my debit cards behind.
On a deadline as had to be home to greet people who were visiting,
P dashed back (20 miles) while I shopped and he brought the cards
to me at the store. That done, we drove back through floods which
had risen whilst out...lol
Got home to find we had been burgled.....nothing of great value,
but disturbing nevertheless. Found it necessary to report to the
police, if for no other reason than to raise awareness.
Visitors had called off the trip as the roads were in chaos......
It all took up the time, hence my brief post...the reason for that, the ads on this site are ludicrous, my laptop cannot handle it.
In spite of all that happened, we had a very nice relaxing Christmas Day
as I hope everybody here had also.
Denny.....your Christmas tale was a delight, enjoyed it immensely.
As I enjoyed everyone's messages and links.
what a crazy tale .... one day you'll relate it to your great grandkids, I m sure. And yuo handled it all so well ...

Okay, the burglary was simply a few items stolen from the chalet in our absence.....disturbing as there were valuable tools close by.....
more of a 'putting the 'frighteners on' if you understand.
maybe it was some boys playing a prank?

Did you ever see 'Shane' I loved that.
What a wonderful old movie. Alan lad was a small man but you never saw that the way it was filmed. Lots of great actors have been short. Not the Duke though. Well over 6 foot. Sorry about your roof

I loved the old westerns too,

THE OUTLAW JOSIE WALES

HIGH NOON,

GUNFIGHT AT THE OK CORAL.

I must admit to having a great liking for the
later SPAGHETTI WESTERNS.

under the direction of Sergio Leone and the
amazing music of Ennio Marricone.

Cold out tonight, and the ind has died down.

Hope everyone will have a relaxing weekend.

Our little island is taking a battering from the weather, power
is on/off.....flood alerts over the country.
Keeping my fingers crossed that the repairs we have made
to the previous damage have not been undone with this latest
storm. Apparently we are to have a month of such weather.
I pity the poor souls who have been without power since Christmas Eve, our loss has at least been intermittent.
D,y'all have a good Christmas?
Almost New Year folks, looks like it will be coming in with a vengeance here.
Anyway....not forgotten the Kitchen and all the good folk who collect here, just been under some pressure with maintenance around the place.

'Elecity'.....nice story Grace. Reminds me of an old chap I had as a neighbour
one time, who was an electrician in the quarry, known locally as 'PLUG' in
the endearing manner the Welsh have for nicknames.

As for the link....that little girl is quite amazing, and one of those 'links' that one
feels all the richer for having seen. I certainly did and thanks for sharing that.

Thanks Franko.....actually it was rather funny, as in an earlier post of yours you said something about stress...at the time everything was totally in hand, lol.

Well, that aside, I hope you and yours had a very enjoyable time over Christmas,
the girls must be growing up by now, time flies.

Hi Denny......I only ever saw Alan Ladd in that one movie...I try not to think of
him being short, lol. Same with Tom Cruise, wonderful actor, doesn't seem to
have held him back at all. I dare say I am 'old school' though, I like my leading
men to be tall!
