I couldn't tell you how incredibly cheered I was to see so many
friends here over the Christmas period, and I hope you all have had
a most enjoyable Christmas as we have.

There was no way I was going to regale y'all with the few glitches
which came our way prior to the big day itself, but here goes,
you may forgive me for my absence in replying individually to all
your most welcome posts.

Everything was cool, no stress in the slightest, until I headed for the
last minute grocery shopping to find I had left my debit cards behind.
On a deadline as had to be home to greet people who were visiting,
P dashed back (20 miles) while I shopped and he brought the cards
to me at the store. That done, we drove back through floods which
had risen whilst out...lol

Got home to find we had been burgled.....nothing of great value,
but disturbing nevertheless. Found it necessary to report to the
police, if for no other reason than to raise awareness.

Visitors had called off the trip as the roads were in chaos......

It all took up the time, hence my brief post...the reason for that, the ads on this site are ludicrous, my laptop cannot handle it.

In spite of all that happened, we had a very nice relaxing Christmas Day
as I hope everybody here had also.

Denny.....your Christmas tale was a delight, enjoyed it immensely.

As I enjoyed everyone's messages and links.

Hello dear Grace. I had a fine Christmas. I couldn't figure out what I wanted so I bought an electric knife sharpener :)

El I am so glad you were out of the home when robbers came. That could have been a terrible incident . In Texas most people have guns in the home. It does make a break in people think twice !

Hi Denny.....it does raise the question about whether the householder has any
protection, that's a fact. One the one hand there is the saying 'An Englishman's
Home is His Castle'.....and on the other 'feel free'.......

myself, I think it should be down to personal choice, I have always thought that, not just
because of this incident. Not the first time, but I had a really, really fierce dog
first time. I mentioned it ages ago here I am sure, he was worth his weight in gold
that dog. Yellow Labrador I had rescued.

SO very sorry -sincerely to hear of this mishap..

& thankful it wasn't all worse..
I agree orally with you El
that a vicious sounding dog
cannot to be matched..

My dog Ali behaves like a rothweiller
on becoming suspicious..

El,

Mind yourself in the high winds..
all sorts of severe
high wind weather alerts out over here!!!!!

Thanks Grace. It's more of a nuisance value than anything, I should have
mentioned, the house itself wasn't entered.....too graphic to go into detail.
It's most unusual for just here.
Yes, there is something very comforting about having a good dog in the house,
they are our ears on occasions like this.
Well this weather is something else, we had floods but nothing like in the South,
so in all honesty we have been lucky in comparison.
Christmas morning I came to cook the lunch....no power....but it was restored in
no time, others not so lucky.
Grace, must mention. Mrs. Brown's Boys last night, what a gem of a show that is.
Pure genius.

A very Good Morning Boomer, and Good Morning to All who enter!

Good to see you here, as it was Brighteyes, and the good friends who dropped in over Christmas. Thankyou for the Boxing Day greetings. All back to norm now, well,
almost.

What is this Nook business, am in the dark there.

Hope you had a happy and restful Christmas....:)

GRACE.

Just watched the news, not good in Ireland and hope you are spared
the power cuts and any damage.

Has been a wild night, the roof has blown off the chalet (the garden room)
so we are out there shortly to see if we can rescue it, hopefully
it hasn't blown in the stream. It never rains but it pours comes to mind!
The good thing, nobody hurt.

Okay, the burglary was simply a few items stolen from the chalet in our absence.....disturbing as there were valuable tools close by.....
more of a 'putting the 'frighteners on' if you understand.
