Wasn't that tragic about the young lady being killed.
Two young ladies killed in entirely different circumstances
both extremely devastating.
Cork was hit pretty badly in the storm I see,(Sky News)
Ireland in general. Here we have flood alerts, but seems
to have all died down today.
Off to the Vets today with Dai, collect his prescription and
have him checked over, so a relief it has calmed down.
Busy busy here today......have a good day Grace.
Yes El,
so sad about these deaths so close to Christmas..

also one never knows what's on another person's mind.
Yesterday, I was in a busy store Xmas music blaring etc,
I was trying to choose between two coloursa for a gift, a lady stood near
me so O said to her how I'd be grateful for her opinion,
which she freely gave, before parting I said
"Hope you'll have a WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS"
surprisingly, she replied
"I wont" as she walked away, I thought her tone was a bit sharp
but paid no more attention until 5 mins later as I was engrossed
in something else, I got a gentle tap on the shoulder,
it was the same woman with tears in her eyes.
She said
"I didn't want to appear rude, but fact is,
I'm heartbroken, my 35 yr old son committed suicide
just 3 weeks ago"

El,I was totally at a loss,
knowing any words would ring hollow now.
I gave her a hug and said "I'll pray for you" she said
"I'd like that, I am just staying out & about wandering
through shops in a daze"
and I was thinking
everyone else caught up in the razzle dazzle
of Christmas...

That moment will stay with me this Christmas,
most of all NOT being able to help her.

Life teaches every day.

and how he made this lovely carol his own.

Grace.....you DID help that lady, your warmth and understanding
will remain with HER over the Christmas period. Don't fret, you
helped enormously.

We have Hailstone and Thunder here.....

the match (Manchester United v Stoke City) was abandoned
for a short time last night due to the referee not being able to
see through the hailstone.

Morgan (the 'new' cat) braved going out this morning as is his
want, but quickly came back to the back door to be allowed in,
covered in hailstone. I keep a towel handy on the radiator for
such purpose and wrapped him in this warm towel. Well,
the look on his face was priceless, but he loved it, and I swear
Clancy was laughing at him!

Dark here now at twenty past eleven, 11.20 a.m. it'sDecember
alright.

you mean....those brownies of yours are not in demand? Sheesh. I can't
understand that, lol.

I'm not embarrassed really, just sayin' it...what it was, I don't know if you have
heard of The Hairy Bikers over there, they are a couple of tv chefs from the
North (England) and have brought out a range of sauces. I tried one last night
plus, instead of minced beef, I added Quorn mince. It could have been quite
nice but I added far too much Quorn.

Good tip about the sugar in spag bol......now my spag bol is brill.....I was taught to make
it in NJ!

sugar takes the acidity out of tomato sauces

a cup of water to start the sauce and where you think your are done a can/two of tomato
paste to thicken and the sugar

Bora, bora morning/afternoon Kitchen people.

Stay warm and cozy as you can regarding your weather in the Auld Isles. It will be balmy in the mid-to-upper 40s F in middle-earth Indiana today. Snow is disappearing at a pace the last 3 days. Sun rays through the bare-limbed trees are warming, and a stout breeze is evaporative. Flooding is in the forecast. I'm on high ground, praise be.

Untimely passings near holidays is surely unsettling. Four or five days before the wedding of wife #2 and me her elderly grandfather passed. Her family urged us to go with the plan. So, a funereal and wedding was on successive days.

As I recall, my two last kitchen disasters were getting sequence of a box mix brownie-cake wrong, and inadvertently making fish filet jerky; getting distracted while they were in the oven.

I hope all goes well for those out and about today.

And the clouds roll in to portend the rains we'll get in the next few days.

Reminds of this ditty:

O', give me a home
where the buffalo roam,
and the deer and the antelope play.

Where seldom is heard
a discouraging word,
and the skies are not
cloudy all day.

Home, home on the range ....
