nah I don't agree with this, I don't think one generation is better or worse than the one before or after.
think about it, from what we are to believe, as far back as the Romans - their lifestyle - sitting around all day eating grapes, and screwing everything and anyone than can. lol
or what about the history of Christianity - its been told how people were tortured to get people to conform to their way - and supposedly all in the name of God?
none of these sound very moral to me, not my way of thinking anyway. and the list goes on and on.
who do we know in our own list of family and friends that hasn't had some kind of mishap in their lives, something they are not proud of. we all do, because we are human..
so I don't think any one generation can claim to be the "moral one"
I think as an individual u can try and live what you yourself consider to be moral, but normal is different for each of us, so who are we to judge what others do.
actually I don't care what others do, got enough to worry about with myself. lol

and that was just the Upper Classes, lol

but I know what you mean. The good old days eh?

What I was meaning is, standards have changed. You wouldn'
pick up a newspaper once upon a time, and see some poor 80 odd
year old with black eyes, beaten to a pulp, or even worse.
Just for a few shillings.

Even burglars seemed to have higher standards than that.

El,
I wrote to you here yesterday,
post 31330
in it I was asking you what upset you
so much, you may have missed it..

anyway,
I see you went to see THE BUTLER,
so did I, wasn't half as good as PHILOMENA
movie, did you see that yet?
very moving...

I hear you folks across the pond have been battered
with very high winds, high here too but not
as bad as the UK has it..

A dreadful dose descended on me cold
and chest infection, I went to Doc early today,
they always told me not to delay with these things
on account of my heart problem..
so I did the right thing.

He put me on an antibiotic, which should straighten
things out, well, what do we expect, its December!
the time for coughs and colds...

Take care El & everyone..

I was wondering if some of that ice storm would come down on you there. Be careful!
We'll have some ice at first but as the temps drop it should go over to heavy snow. Hubby has a half-cord of wood stacked in the house next to the wood-stove hearth, as our temps are going down to single digits and we don't want to have to even open the door to get more wood to feed the stove! lol
Anyway, I was serious when I asked you prior about venison roast recipes...have a good day Denny.

'A boy or a child', that's funny, lol. We already know, it's a baby girl. We even know her name. Also I'm not sure if folks have heard but our friend Terry, aka Duh welcomed his first grandchild into the world day before yesterday, and all is well. Another baby girl.
I used to perceive this stage of my life as 'old', that's before I got here. The older I get though, seems the more full of life, life is. Nice!

You're meaning is well-intentioned, Cuz El. I took it as you put it here.

To Tally's point:

"Daddy hates mommy, mommy hates dad
cheat on your taxes, never mind the rules, just play to win and hate your neighbour for the shade of his skin ,stab 'em in the back, that's the name of the game"

From an American perspective, our old cherished, moral values have always included this dark side and I don't see that being eliminated any time soon.

And ... there wasn't internet and ubiquitous news reporting on the national and international scale to the extent it is in these moderns times.

Don't mind me ... glummy mood, maybe because of the weather. Have a cold drizzle currently with a not-so-pleasant breeze. It's one of those days where the warmest official high temp was during the wee hours before dawn; sliding downward as the day goes on.

Bora Bora Bora!

Winter IS coming!

I was horrified to think I had ignored you Grace, went straight
to look for the post you mention.....it isn't there! It jumps
from 31329 to 31321...so wonder how that came about.

Oh, just upset at the news coverage from Glasgow and the Bronx...
I would think no more so than yourself....I was the long drawn
out rescue from the pub which I found distressing.

Life goes on.

That's a Job's Comfort, lol, considering you are under the weather, take good care Grace, and hope the anti-biotics soon
'kick-in'. You know what I would recommend along with those
anti-biotics don't you? LOL

Weather conditions are atrocious in the UK, not so bad here as
the lake will take any excess down to the sea (or so I am told)
but you may have seen the conditions in Cumbria where my brother
is, in fact all over the UK. Terrible in Scotland.
