It sure was Sir Tally.....the South of England was hit particulrly hard
some good news this morning is 100,000 homes have had their electricity
supply restored, 60,000 are still without power. Five died in this storm. British Rail are gettng some flack for stopping train services, but they erred on the side of caution and that is a good thing, considering there were trees across the lines.
TONY....hope you are not one affected by the power cuts an that you was able to keep to you hosp. appt yesterday the roads being as they are.
Was thinking of you being relieved of the PEG, hope it happened.
KRYPTEIA....was that a goal or was it not a goal? Roll on goal technology whatever it is called.
Nice day here, think I wlll sweep up some of those leaves.....
Good Morning Everyone and wishing you all a good day.
No problem - the worst of the storm bypassed most of the West Country Dorset caught it badly, but it only reached its height by the Isle of Wight. All the services were ready, so the one tree that fell across the road was clear by the time we drove through at 0730.

The line came out like lightning! She-who-must-be-obeyed had to drive me in as after a sedative, you're not allowed to drive. She anticipated that I would be in for most of the morning as I was when they fitted the peg line, so had lots of plans of what to do in Plymouth whilst I was in, including lunch with a chum. That all went to rats when at 0915 the hospital rang her to say I could be collected at 0945! Don't think I was flavour of the month!

Tomorrow is the monthly check up - will let you know how that goes. Nice to see PP on here, she doesn't drop by that often.

That's great to hear Tony...really moving forward now.

But you men! I am sure you do it on purpose! P was at the Eye Clinic
yesterday, a mini bus collected him as he was not to drive in case he
had drops inserted. I had this planned, that planned, and what happened, he was back within one and half hours. He was one hour early for his appointment, expected to wait around, but no, he was called in for his check-up within ten minutes, checked by two technicians followed by the Surgeon, and home before he knew it! Also good news, his eye has stabilised.

Certainly cannot complain about the NHS here either.

Will hope it is more good news for you tomorrow...

If it is the one way to make a point, then all credit to the

Good afternoon/evening Kitchen-eers!

I've followed news about the deadly storms lashing through the Isles and the Continent. Last I heard, after Denmark it was weakening and heading for Russia.

Saddened about the lives lost; particularly the lad washed away in south England. That's got to be devastating to his family ... ne'er to be seen again for closure.

Earl Grey ... hot!(please)

That is tragic Grace and so sad. I love trees but fear them too. A woman and her baby were killed a few years back when a rotting tree that was weakened by a previous storm, fell on the mother and her child as they were walking through a park. Just a matter of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Who can understand such tragedies? A neighbor's tree next door to us was struck by lightening about 5 years ago. Luckily, no one was near the tree at the time. Nature can be so unpredictable, mysterious and yet beautiful.
Well said. Hi 60's chic,
I also think of a kind of destiny,
the split second timing of all these
tragedies, just being there at that particular moment in time..

Mysterious indeed, and no telling when such an event might
touch ANY of us.. hopefully not..

Shivers:)

Anyway, very good to see you.

Quite. Although not the language we would encourage in the Kitchen...
if it drives the point home, without overshadowing the issue in hand,
then acceptable.

Good Morning to All the folk who frequent the Kitchen.

Here we are, the last day of October, a;most two months
away from Christmas.(sorry, I don't 'do' Halloween)
but a Happy Halloweeen to those who do.

Don't mean to be cast a cloud, but this year has been a
difficult one to say the least in our cat family.
We have nursed, and lost, five pecious pets this one year.

The trouble when they all become old tgether.
This has grounded us completely, not complaining too
bitterly as the Snowdon National Park is not such a
bad place to be grounded.

But starting tomorrow, the 1st of November, we are
taking a month out for ourselves.

So from this evening then, I shall love you and leave you for one whole month. Making visits to the National
Trust properties of which we are members, visiting friends and family, and just chillin'.

As GRACE says, you never know what's round the corner, so enjoy life while you can!

TONY...all the very best today...hoping for good news from you.

PRINCESS HEY...missed you....along with QUINCY....

See you in December, God willing.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!

Halloween which originated over here,
is always obviously very popular around here.

Later, I'll enjoy the little children coming round
in their fancy costumes doing trick or treat.

The weather's good too so fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear 'twas such a tough year for the cats,
as you say all aging together doesn't help!

To wish you a very successful and well deserved break
El, hope you thoroughly enjoy your time out.

We'll keep the KITCHEN going..
and promise not to run up any bills in your absence:)

Take care & enjoy.

Good Morning Grace and HAPPY HALLOWEEN to you and to everyone on Offbeat! Unfortunately I missed Trick or Treat night this year. In fact, I forgot the exact date yesterday and bought a huge combination bag of Reese's candy thinking that Trick or Treat was last night. Now I'm stuck with all of this candy but it just so happens that my hubby loves Reese's peanut butter cups. It's too bad he already saw the bag because there's no way I can hide it from him now, lol.
