Thanks for those who expressed concern, but don't worry, ER was quite right - I've had a few days in France and then have been busy organising getting my PEG line out of my stomach. Have an appointment first thing on Monday for it to be removed, which is none too soon!
St Malo was lovely, she-who-must-be-obeyed had never been there before and loved it. Ate a lot of soupe de poisson as it was al I was sre I could swallow! Lovely run along the coast from Roscoff on the Friday - lovely sunny day. Sat and Sun were odd - dreadful weather in the morning and blue skies and sunshine by the afternoon.
Sounds like you are doing great Tony :)

Glad to know you was able to keep to your planned visit to France Tony,
and that all your treatment has paid off.
Relieved to hear that Monday you will have the PEG removed....
after that, the only way is up!
Have a friend whose husband is in a similar position to what you have
been through....have been able to tell her a friend has got through it with sheer will power and guts. Plus perseverance with extreme treatment of course. Thanks for putting our mind at rest Tony.

Tell you friend that the best advice I can give for anyone who has the misfortune to go through cancer is determination pays off. I was determined that whatever was thrown at me, I would come back for more. The treatment is grisly, the side effects are a pain, but if it means life at the end of it - everything is worth it. Now I'm hoping that the taste will return - the docs tell me most of it does, for without it, eating is no fun.

Already have! Determination and I added, Optimism drawn on my own expeience too. Minimal in comparison but a concern at the time.
Tony, remember us discussing the NHS? You for and me pointing out the
drawbacks (cutbacks). Must say it is alive and well in Cumbria, based on
treatment given to my brother..could not surpass it.
Must be awful btw not being able to taste your food....that will surely come back in good time. Bet you would taste my curries!...:) Not for the fainthearted.

Have you batterned down the hatches? We were in Portugal during the last big one, knew nothing about it until we were home.

<quoted text>I have never seen anyone else do an act like Terry Fador. He sang some of his own songs but he is much better when he does someone else voice. Boardwalk is great this season
I watched quite a few of his puppet acts, loved them, unbelievable,
I hope he comes over here I will def go to see him. I expect the
venue helps the atmosphere, Vegas must have an electrifying ambience
but if he comes to say Liverpool, the theatre there is great, he would be well received.
Did you say Breaking Bad is a good series? May join Netflix and watch
nightly, so little on. Have Graham Norton show from last night recorded
Robert De Niro being a guest...my viewing for tonight.

Good Morning All Friends,

Well. There was a programme on tv whereby a
young Muslim woman was bein taught to drive by
herhuband, strictly forbiden of course, and
shown the very many women and girls taking to the
wheel as a form of protest against the bnning of
women driving in their culture.

All very well for me to say what's the big deal
about driving, I hve been there, done that, known
the freedom of the road an the independence which
comes with it. As the lady in the programme said,
'I work, to get to work I need to drive'...fair enough.

Basically I consider these women to be the eqivalent of our Suffragettes....they risked much to have the priviledge of voting....good luck to these women in their attempts to change their lives.

Hi Folks,

good to be back..
had a most restful and fun winter break,
here is where I was

beautiful and serene.

TONY

Great to see you around and so glad
you made the trip to France successfuly
and enjoyed it.

TALLY
Agreed about porridge,
but strangely I am somehow addicted
to DRY oatmeal! takes all kinds, I know(:

EL

Wondering are you all set for the mother-of-all
storms ready to hit Wales/England,
already we are experiencing some of it's gales and rain.

My cousins [whom I was with on holiday]
are set to sail to UK on Monday,
I doubt they will 'now'!
just shows, we never knew what's up ahead.

Hope you'll be safe El..

and greetings to all others here.

I look at it El,
as, the fact that these women are not ALLOWED to drive,
that is the big NO NO!

'GENERALLY SPEAKING' I THINK IT'S VERY

TOUGH THE WAY MUSLIM WOMEN ARE TREATED.

I didn't mean the capitals.

Welcome back Grace, good to see you here,
thanks for the link too, beautiful area, not
unlike Anglesey here.

Judging by the weather report on the news this morning
we will not be getting the full force of the storm,
although it seems to be brewing as I speak. Cornwall
will be hit badly by all accounts, let's all hope Tony
will be safe and sound, dunno about where Krypteia lives
but him too.

I certainly wouldn't like to cross the Irish Sea at the moment
Grace, but the ferries will probably cancelled anyway. Expecting
the bridges across to Anglesey will be closed....marooning many
from coming and going. Anyway, fingers crossed.....:)

Well Grace, I have always been a bit of a 'Feminist'
and certanly believe in equal rights and all that, to
the extenct that one time I applied for a job on a
building site, as a brickie no less (don't laugh)...:)
where the Foreman attemped to take my application seriously
(previous job..Fashion Model) lol...it was to prove a point,
and to demand equal pay, but I was rejected for the simple reason
'there were no toilets for ladies on the site'..poor excuse,
only thankful in hindsight they didn't take me on!
So yes, the fact that women are not ALLOWED to drive putting
them on a par with children in a way, should not be.

But then I think of the women in the Third World who would give
anything to be able to feed their children....to have a decent
roof over their heads...the men who would give anything to be
able to support their families...when a car is something that
only the rich would own...
It's all relative.
