Yes, Shepard and Grissom were not in orbit. John Glenn, the 3rd American in space was the first orbital space flight.

yes/no depends on each case's merits , slander is one of the hardest to prove .........I can say you are an idiot , and I,me,myself believe that ..... then slander it isn't..........HOWEVER if I took out a full page ad in the paper calling you an idiot , that I must prove . that is slander
It does depend on whether or not there are witnesses to prove what was said and how it was said ... if the speaker tried to claim it as truth, not an opinion then it is slander..... if done in writing its libel though, right?

In the case of a rape accusation, clearly there was an attempt to claim it as fact.

yes and yes and no .. not in that order ,

you have three cases here... but false testimony is punishable ..documents speak for themselves

Perjury is the crime of making a knowingly false statement which bears on the outcome of an official proceeding that is required to be testified to under oath.

false statements under oath made in testimony in court, administrative hearings, depositions, answers to interrogatories, as well as by signing or acknowledging a written legal document (such as affidavit, declaration under penalty of perjury, deed, license application, tax return) are subject to prosecution for perjury under various state and federal laws.

penalties for perjury vary greatly, and may be charged as a misdemeanor or felony depending on the facts and law involved.

Slander is the oral communication of false statements that are harmful to a person's reputation. If the statements are proven to be true, it is a complete defense to a charge of slander. Oral opinions that don't contain statements of fact don't constitute slander.

Libel refers to a false written and seen communication made about a person with the intention to defame that person....it is a written representation conveying an unjust and unfavorable impression prepared with the intention to damage a person's reputation......if the defendant is able to show that the defamatory statement is essentially true, then the plaintiff's claim for libel will fail.

I think the [Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons] just won the Nobel Peace Prize.
Of course that is a very hot topic right now.
Good day to all here
I suppose the chemical weapons issue is also a wider ranging thing, affecting more people in a warlike situation. At least by outward appearances.

Mallala is simply opposing the Taliban, but if one looks further this affects about 1 Billion women facing similar opposition as she is.

does perjury apply only to what is said in court?

In the well publicized case we are talking about, it did not go to court, but the accusation and procedure to bring it to court was so well publicized that this man's reputations was affected without it ever getting near a court. Does perjury still apply?

Perjury charges are accusations of knowingly making false statements after taking an oath of truth.

assuming she rescinded...before she signed on dotted line ......... she got away with one

no perjury can be applied to a sworn statement........

LOL

Some of the 'guys' that patched in little messages
in the bible had similar ideas that brought them a laugh
and tickled their ego, when suggesting
that GOD took a little rib of the already fully formed male 'ADAM'
and fashioned 'mere' WOMAN out of it,
almost giving the impression that woman should
forever more be on her knees in thanksgiving to the MALE -

How odd when you consider that in nature, WOMAN is the one
who conceives, forms, nurtures, entirely
creates and finally gives birth to the brand new human being..
OF COURSE together with the ALL important male contribution.

That example always put me off things biblical:)
