That is so DW,
and also, each case is entirely different
from the next one,
this lady had been used to going out briefly to the
local store always coming back,
and then came the date she crossed that threshold
you mentioned into 'lost'
I always think 'to err on the side of caution'
is a good adage here.
Like El,
I saw a relation pass thru' many stages of alzheimers,
to the end.
It is one illness I'd like to dodge,
but these choices are never ours.
Thanks for your good reply, DW.
Grace,
It was actually my next door neighbour and friend who was struck
down with Alzheimers, and the pity of it is, I had lost touch with herwhen I moved from that area, until a cousin of hers told me that sadly, my friend was now 'forgettful' then I heard she had bee taken into hospital but was now home, went to see her and hr husband at their home. At this point she was n the final stages.
But I knew she had recognised me as thi lady always spoke in Welsh, but fo me, she spoke English. While was there she spoke one word only....in English. It was irrelevant to the conversation but a word she used frequently to me.
The effort to find that one word in the archives of her brain was awesome.
I'll never forget it. Or her.

very interesting read El,
and indeed this illness is awesome in
ways, like you say.

I remember, in my relations case,
she knew EVERYONE in old photos,
but hadn't a God's clue what was going
on in her present situation..

As Deer Whisperer mentioned [and, as we both know]
it is a complicated illness..
their distant memory is sharp & clear.

Going back once more to the woman who was
found dead on Saturday last, the little dog now has
become a real hero here.. and is in all the papers and radio programmes today, apparently the experts in the field could tell,
she died early in the week [she went missing
Tuesday last and was found dead on Saturday;

the dog remained with her through all those hours
in light & darkness..
When he was found, he was immediately taken to the vet,
who treated him for dehydration and hunger,
but he died shortly after.

<quoted text>Here we give breakfast and lunch to kids. Training them to be dependent to the state. You may find it odd that we don't want government health care. It has already going to cost twice as much as was promised. Insurance was supposed to go down by $2500 and instead there have been huge increases in cost. A man of 40 has seen a 370% increase in cost in some states. The unions say it will destroy the 40 hour work week. If an employee works less that 30 hours the employer doesn't have to provide insurance so huge lay off making people who were full time part time. This is a train wreck. Congress has been made exempt by staff and congressmen being paid more money to cover the higher cost :(

Both very moving stories Grace....the dog, Casper wasn't it, will
probably go own in history as Greyfriars Bobby of Edinburgh has.
You will go a long way to find a more loyal friend than a dog.
I miss mine terribly.

Powerful pictures LIM....drives home just how things were at that point in time. My first
reaction was one of shock, although aware of the Depression, it takes seeing photos
such as those to bring it home how it was.

was is correct ... the safe guards should be in effect
this was a world wide depression,[if we are talking about 29] surprisingly Italy survived the depression better than the rest of the world...

I love the Camel cigaret sign

unfortunately for many there are no more opportunities now than there were in '29, blind partisanship on all sides have led to were we are and it has been good only to the rich, they should take note to what history shows, when 2% own 98% change is swift and violent

it seems that whenever u want to get drunk, it doesn't happen, and then other times I have one beer and im feeling a lil looped already. lol
:))
with my D wedding, I really only had "maybe" 2 glasses of wine all nite, didn't really feel like drinking. I was too busy dancing all nite. lol - soooo unlike me, im actually the shy type, and to be honest its my sister that's known as the "dancer" in the family. Ive never felt like being compared, ya know? maybe u don't, its a sister thing I guess. heh
but I gotta say that nite I was letting loose and danced my silly feet off. and I WAS good too! lol - everyone was Shocked to see me up on the dance floor and everyone said how good I was and asked why I didn't dance more often...
what was I gonna say, how insecure I feel about being on the "stage" lol - im one of those "closet dancers" I guess, when all alone in the house, the music gets turned up real loud and im in my own little world. lol
whatever, I admit it, im a weird duck... lol lol
:)
nah, it was a very special occasion for you to enjoy to the fullest! We're all ducks in the pond, aren't we?! QUACK!!:)

I heard that Tony is doing well and that he is hopeful that
the cancer has gone for good. Both he and Tally in their
different ways have had a struggle with their health as we
know, and both have survived with full honours!
Have a wonderful day from beginning to end dear Princess...<3

All the best with that...good for you to ask first...
I had a fasting cholesterol test done recently and came
out with flying colours, which was a relief as I chose
to lower mine by diet rather than statins. At least
I did something right!..)
