Aside from the teens (and now tweens!), Jackie Kennedy inspired quite a few women to wear those pill-box hats, those coat-dresses. I'm sure Queen Victoria was modeled in some levels of society.

Good Morning Princess Hey...
it was so good to see your warm greeting when I came in last
night, I didn't post, but appreciated it no end....
Beautiful day yesterday, and good news at the Vets where I spent
the afternoon having a pet checked over...so all in all very
happy.
Have a very pleasant and peaceful day friend. <3

Good points, DW.. true..

Yes I often thought too,
Altho' there are many who can meet famous people
and enjoy the experience, taking it all in their stride..
other folks of perhaps lower self esteem have an exaggerated
feel about movie stars, fashion icons and such >.
ie... when someone shakes hands with a very famous person,
in elation..they say

'I never want to wash this hand again'

we see how over dedicated fans react every day...

Could also be
That 'I' now am turning into an old bore..
forgetting what 'twas like to be young
and lost in the moment!!!(;

El as per your post 29293..
Very good to see the lovely couple
And the new baby thriving,
And the family photo they put out is perfect..
What I CANNOT get over tho' is
the reddish dress Kate wore in the photo..
was, it is reported.. senapped up in the shops afterwards.
By gullible young ladies
While this has nothing to do with Kate, as such..
I am surprised at these young women's lack of
Individuality, in these things..
WTF (if I may be crude)!!!!
Just because Kate Middleton wore a
pretty 'run of the mill' summer dress,
Many women out there feel they
Feel they must
follow in her shadow like sheep ???
Would value your opinion.

Thanks ALL for replies re the ice cream
Thief...
As a few folks said, DW, Franko, El..
The radio guy like
Y maše the right decision..
In the circumstances.
Good Morning Grace, nice morning or maen brave here.

It was a nice photo wasn't it, I liked it very much.
Some were saying they should be able to see more of
George...what DO they want for Heave' sake.

I didn't notice the dress, but I will say all credit to
Kate for choosing to wear 'off the peg' dresses in these
days of recession..affordable for those not so well off,
and those very ones pick up on that, maybe regarding her
as a 'yardstick'...and to be honest I think they could do
worse than choose Kate to base their ideas upon.
One reason I admired Michelle Obama....her choice of simple
yet very attractive economy concious dresses.
These two figureheads coul quite easily afford to 'go to
town' and wear designer outfits....so they are setting
a good example.

btw...the link was adorable...:) T/Y

I watched a documentary where the guy being interviewed included a comment about signs of the this nature being at the edge of [some] town (back in time). Of course, that could be hyperbole ... it could be.
STREUTH! Good Friday Morning my Deer CUZ LUKE...

Never woulda believed! That happened in the dark ages in
England when signs were put up on the doors boarding houses
to the effect 'No Dogs, No Irish'...but we are talking 19th century. Just in time for some of my dear ancestors making
their way across the Irish Sea to a 'better life' in Manchester.
I learnt that during the course of my genealogy research.
Discrimination at it's worst. Can't be doing with it.

Evening El,we just got a pikie invasion they cut the fence to a small park and it's packed,my 81 year old aunt lives just round the corner so just been there to warn her to lock doors etc and to telephone me if anyone knocks,.Went over to the police that are standing there clueless and told them if anything happens to my aunt your going to have a bigger problem, and they still stood there finger up bum mind in neutral..
Good Morning Krypt....hope your aunt had a peaceful night. It
has to be worrying when strangers descend in the neighbourhood
it's the fear of the unknown. Travellors camped some time ago
close by, up in the hills, residents were in an uproar, lotsof farms around here so he farmers were worried about their sheep an claim were made that the Travellors had stolen lambs....any crime
at al was put down to th Travellors.
Eventually one of them put a letter in the local rag, inviting anybody who cared to, to go up and meet with them, they would learn that they were just ordinary people looking to settle somewhere, wanting to send their children to school, etc.
They were better educated than half the folk who were complaining of their presence in their vicinity! lol
They were moved on regardless.
Could be these who are near to your aunt have no bad inentions, time will tell. Sincerely hope they are perhaps looking for work..
But I have to say Krypteia that your Aunt is fortunate to have such a caring wonderful nephew...and I mean that.xx

Lol

You got false info
about us running about in the
nude,
When El opened The Kitchen,
way back she had to sign a form,
Stating
'They'd be none of THAT SORT OF THING'
in this kitchen lol

Other than that,
It was just a lash in the pan,

All's good as ever in The Kitchen.

Warm greetings .....

Thank you El,unfortunately this lot were moved on from a town two miles away and the filth they left behind was disgusting and it's the local people's hard earned money In council tax clears up after these loafers that don't contribute a single penny, they pax no tax as no fixed address so it's us that pay for their lifestyle and they demand rights to upset everyone....There was supposed to be a football match in that park last night that people pay for these parks but hey not that they care all one big freebie and destruction ,the field is churned up so god knows how much that is going to cost..
