<quoted text>Tony I don't take it as you being rude at all. Socialism was entrenched in Germany well before Hitler. Why did the Nazi call their self Socialist if they were not Socialist???? The Nazi controlled all industry and left alone all industry that benefited the state. They wanted the workers to share in the profits of industry. England started becoming Socialist after WW1 as the class system began to fall apart. After WW2 the UK taxed the wealthy out of existance with their Social programs. The power to tax is the power to control all aspects of culture. FDR brought Socialism to the US
Denny, Hitler did NOT control all of industry - anything but. You simply lack the knowledge to discuss this - I've specialised in the totalitarian history of Europe in the 20th century for 40 years and what you write is utterly inaccurate - you simply do not have the facts. The use of the word socialist in their party title was of no meaning whatsoever - as any historian of the period can tell you. There were absolutely no profit sharing schemes for the workers of Germany - cheap holidays and cars were their only perks.

As to the UK - if your knowledge of our history is as scant as that of Germany in the similar period, please do not start on that. I'll leave this subject now, for there is no profit in trying to explain when I suspect that from some of your previous posts, you are using the term socialist in a 21st century political context in relation to the current US situation rather than in the correct historical context of the totalitarian era (and I'm probably boring the hell out of others on this thread!!).

Not boring. I absorbed your input, the sources I linked, and some other references. No further point in linking more that's ignored.

After the early 25 point program speechified by Hitler early on, the bottom line is that by the invasion of Poland in '39 and toward '45, by charisma, manipulation, and worse, Nazism practiced 'mulism' in all things (horse and donkey hybrid), with characteristics of a chameleon and/or a chimera, with the primary objective of expediency over ideology. That's Nazi fascism in a nutshell.

I noticed that were both oeering under some steps.something seemed to be hidng behind.
I went out and there were a pair of eyes looking at me, I assumed a rat. However,I couldn't stand by and have my cats kill a living creature like tha, so, grabbed two very wet, very heavy cats and unceremoniously, flung them in the kitchen. lol
Then dried them off!
Much later I went outside and this little rat was running toward the door, I shut the door in a hurry, but grabbed a little box, went outside ad bundled the creature into it. Carried him out of the garden to release him outside....it was the cutist little Mole. He ran for cover into the long grass on the bank of the stream...
Only glad I played it by ear and didn't allow the cats to kill what I originally thought was a rat.
Well, off to tackle the kitchen....made a steak and ale pie....

It will be interesting to know what names they choose...as
you say, going along with tradtion, possibly 4 or 5.
Learnt something quite interesting the other day in that when/if
Prince Charles succeeds to the throne, he will take the name
George, which is one of his given names, thus, George V11.
WEll now we know they used only 3 names.

Interesting tidbit about Charle's intenitons ... Hmm . if I was him he would be Charles III which I think is more original .. but I can understand the homage to the direct and recent lineage with George.

I think that some aspects of socialism must exist in all forms of political structure and government ... as long as the ideals are held to its a good thing.

socialism , ideally, would keep big business from controlling the world economy. small businesses are steadily finding it impossible to compete with big business. That would be a 100% capitalist society when only a few big businesses control the economy and government. A fully profit oriented world.

small businesses are of the past , people no longer walk to shop....unions are a necessary evil [have grown way to powerful] sports unions are a prime example

Quincy's Birthday?- then HAPPY BIRTHDAY Quinn!!

come on back girl!- this kind of stuff has been happening from day one when topix opened house, it wont change, people are always going to be either hurt or angry over something, no different than real life except here they tend to speak up about it. the trick to survival on topix is to accept it and don't read it if it bothers u, because once a person feels hes been wronged by others, he may lash out at everybody who is in the way, especially if hes not getting his point across to the ones that are to blame for his anger. some people just cant let it go, doesn't make them necessarily wrong either, its just the way they're wired, we all have different personalities, nobody is ever liked completely by other people, and its really no big deal - would be a boring world if we were all the same. lol
