can you just BELIEVE some folks?

One woman saw a man load all his kids in
the van leaving a big bag of litter on the sand,
she ran after him, stood in front of the car which was stuck in
traffic at the exit.. and made him take it
in front of everyone(: good medicine!
Drives my brother nuts in South Beach --- the bottles & trash & cigarette butts.

<quoted text>Good to hear you're having a good Summer. Us too. Life's brevity has become rather real to us in the last couple of years; we're going out of our way to live a little this Summer. Hope you had a good 4th, we were camping and boating on a lake in the southern part of the state. We just returned last night from a five day trip to southeaster KY, we were back country camping in the Red River Gorge. We did a lot of kayaking, swimming and hiking. It was our 18th Anniversary trip. It was our fourth trip of the Summer, and we have six more by October, lol. Thing is, we could spend the money on a single hotel or condo rental package, or take all these camping trips and enjoy the great outdoors. I don't understand why more folks don't camp.
I think all the bad news about, spurs us on, too. We're living like there's no tomorrow and loving like it's our last day...hopefully we'll still be living this way fifty years on...
I hope the rest of your Summer is fantastic!
Hi there Paisley! Glad you're enjoying life & leisure. I've been watching too many episodes of Discovery ID -- it doesn't seem camping is as 'safe' today as it was back in the '70s or earlier. Too many crazies out there. That's just my take. Plus, ain't no way you're taking my bathroom! I can give up the iPhone and hotel luxuries, but I need my indoor plumbing !

Don't know if/where we'll vacay. Talked about Savannah. I want to take the dogs on a road trip. My old gal is over 15 and I'm not inclined to leave her in a kennel anymore - she's gotten quote ornery, plus it's been at least 7 years since she last boarded. In the meantime I'm enjoying a day here and there and as I've mentioned I enjoy the Chicago Botanic Garden.

My garden has been going fab this year. Looking forward to the goods coming soon. Herbs came out well so I impressed myself. If its green I tend to kill it :(

<quoted text>Oh, my reading list...lol. Usually there's a lot, especially last Summer with months of nursing hubby at bedside. But this year? Facebook, LOL! Trying to add a little more Topix to the list, too...I've missed some of the great folks here.
I think I meant books. The kindle is not my thing, I like a nice hard cover or soft cover book.

I will leave this kitchen in good heart and wish

I'd say its all good El and I'm sure the Kitchen patrons agree.

Funny you mentioned Wales not being on the school curriculum. In school I always wondered why some of the more current history like WWII and Viet Nam weren't covered.

Censorship!

Since you have spent considerable time trying to sow discord in thi8s thread, do you really think you are an appropriate person to put yourself forward as guardian of such a thread? I think not.

As the great (but now somewhat aging) Sean Connery once said about never playing Bond again - "Never say, Never again". Trust you won't take too long a break from here - we would miss your positive input - how could El's Kitchen be that without El?

Hits the nail on the head. Maybe everyone needs a break from time to time.

Hope you're feeling better Tony. Have you skippered the yacht again? Been thinking you might appreciate the Tall Ships that come to Chicago every year.

You should get an all Topix pass or get out of jail free card for possible being the first registered poster on Topix? lol

A while back I went on search of the first post ever made on Topix, digging down at the end of each of the main forums and I went pages back......

And you came along RIGHT afterwards, so you either have to be possibly the first as no one was registering in the beginning or a mod? lol

Anyway I thought it was interesting?
