Yo, franko! Before I got busy with a chore, an errand, and getting in lawn mowing (it's threatened rain all day), I was entertained by a travelogue show regarding Vancouver and Victoria in your province. Ah, so many places... so little time (and coin).

Morning all, the kitchen seems to be draped with strange flags and buntings - could it be that certain colonial chappies are celebrating something? Have a great day over the pond and I will resist any comments along the lines that we should be celebrating the departure!!
I'm spending 7 hours in hospital today for blood transfusions, so have had to arrange for my US visitors to meet me in a pub afterwards - what a bummer!!
I'm glad your St. Louis mates could come over for a visit, as your original plans to come to the States had to be changed. That's pretty damned special!

'Morning Tony...could have been worse, they could have lost, lol.
Quite a day you have ahead, I think the prospect of meeting those
friends would keep me going throughout, bear with it, although
said before, you are getting there. Did you catch Andy yesterday?
Brilliant come back, and well played his opponent it has to be said.
Time for another cuppa and the day begins....
All the best today.
That was an incredible match ... Verdasco played some of the best tennis I ever saw him play ... and Andy had an off start but managed to get his head together in time to save the match ... he will have to play better than that to beat Djokovic .. when he plays his best he is on par. I do hope a Brit wins it this year, or soon ....

It is necessary Franko, sadly, in this day and age particularly,
there have been many attempts to repeat bombings here which have
been foiled and no doubt thanks to a specialised group being
given freedom to 'eavesdrop'.
Much as we are thankful for the bravery of a man like Snowden
putting us in the picture, which, basically, is our right to know, and we should have been informed thus removing the need for a
'whistleblower'. As it is, anybody with any compassion at all,
would have to have some pity for a young man being hounded in the way that he is.
There are risks both ways ... I just read a report of a teenaged guy (17 or 18 years old?) who made a nasty threat online while playing a role playing game, and he is now about to be tried and could face 10 years in jail. That is ridiculous .... but this does make a point .. that people who are posting online should be careful about what they say and how they say it .. haven't we seen some ridiculous stuff here in TOPIX over the years?

The funny thing is, that the true criminal types are the ones who are most careful about what they say and how they say it because they KNOW they would be caught if they spoke too explicitely ...

Not the choicest of ways - admittedly,
to spend Independence Day!
but it's all for the good.
The thing I felt tough about blood transfusions
[had a few for anemia]
was, how LONG it took,
not to mention... restricting,
but how wonderful and beneficial
that such can be done at all!
What truly fascinated me,
I was saying to my son,
and he agreed,
was, how the 'thingy' automatically
cut in to take the blood pressure
every so often,
I remember just dozing off,
and being woken by it!
Wonderful technology... must be said.
We are all behind you - in spirit -
Tony,
your guiding us thru' the different stages
is very interesting, considering it's
about
YOU, our well respected friend here ..
but apart from that, it is also *very valuable*
to follow the varying stages...
as outlined by you.
better than any text book.
Thanks:
PS
and.....
FYI,
'You're a star'
sometimes it is the simplest solution that does the most good. My ex wife would have died if they had not been ale to use a ventilator .... she was in a coma and not breathing on her own ... so a machine helped her breathe for 5 weeks until her brain "kicked in" and she started to breathe on her own again .... this device has saved millions of lives, just as the IV drip does ....

I don't know enough of the details ... and I'm not sure anyone outside an agency such as the CIA can know the truth .. but the USA has tried very hard to keep stability in Egypt because it is central to the stability in the entire region ... the last thing we need is more instability in the middle east.

I don't think WWIII is a possibility though .... not unless RUssia was to get stupid about the whole thing too ...

The main thing is that the elected leader seems to have abused the system for his own gain .. similar to LIbya, didn't they discover Kadafi had 200 Billion dollars in assets in his own name??? HIs people could have had good lives, lived at levels comparable to any modern country such as Canada, USA or most European countries ... but they lived poor while he and his minions lived rich ... we complain about our government but in truth the abuses in the western world are small compared to many other countries of the world.

Cheers Tony! oh, how could I have forgotten Bjorg? Well, that's a fact. Too much serve and volley; too much rocket-blast serves, and the faults from them, and errant returns, or the set-ups from weak returns tends to monotony. Variety of strategy and tactic is a good thing!
in many ways the game has had to adapt ... they allowed larger rackets with better technology and the serves got 15 MPH faster .. and over the years the returners have had to improve to adapt so that once again the all-around players are the best players and the strong servers cannot win based only on the service game anymore ....

Our own Canadian PLayer, Raonic, is evidence of that .. he has risen to word NO 14 ranking based on his strong serve but he won't rise into the top 10 until his all around and receiving game improves ....8162

thanks .. we are belssed to live in a very beautiful region .... and yes, it costs to enjoy much of it....

YOu could climb to the top of Grouse mountain (the GROuSE GRInd is world famous) to enjoy the view of the city .. or you can pay to ride the Gondolla to enjoy the same view....

It helps to know that you can drive a car up Cypruss or Seymour mountains for free to enjoy the same view ....

ANd the beaches are free!!!

sad when you want to do something good and you are prevented for reasons beyond your control... in fact when I first learned of my condition they would not accept my blood ... it was a about a decade before enough research had been done that they decided it was safe to use.
