Morning all, the kitchen seems to be draped with strange flags and buntings - could it be that certain colonial chappies are celebrating something? Have a great day over the pond and I will resist any comments along the lines that we should be celebrating the departure!!
I'm spending 7 hours in hospital today for blood transfusions, so have had to arrange for my US visitors to meet me in a pub afterwards - what a bummer!!
'Morning Tony...could have been worse, they could have lost, lol.
Quite a day you have ahead, I think the prospect of meeting those
friends would keep me going throughout, bear with it, although
said before, you are getting there. Did you catch Andy yesterday?
Brilliant come back, and well played his opponent it has to be said.
Time for another cuppa and the day begins....
All the best today.

They just caught two people locally (in canada) who were planning to use bombs in the legislature building of our province. They had 3 bombs using pressure cookers guess what?? Same devices as the Boston Marathon bombings ....
Obviously they were caught thanks to the sort of evesdropping that so many people are against ...
it is a new world with new technology and the rules have to change with it ... otherwise the bad guys gain the advantage.
The average person would not have caught them .. only properly trained police.agants could.
Guess what? They were whites who were converted to islam ...
It is necessary Franko, sadly, in this day and age particularly,
there have been many attempts to repeat bombings here which have
been foiled and no doubt thanks to a specialised group being
given freedom to 'eavesdrop'.
Much as we are thankful for the bravery of a man like Snowden
putting us in the picture, which, basically, is our right to know, and we should have been informed thus removing the need for a
'whistleblower'. As it is, anybody with any compassion at all,
would have to have some pity for a young man being hounded in the way that he is.

Oh the big bad USA. The White House can do underhanded things and the rest of the world is still afraid? No wonder Bush and Obama can keep trampling everyone's human and civil rights.
I think it's crazy. Someone needs to have some balls and a backbone instead of kowtowing to poltics.
Perhaps not so much out of fear..but rather, we know which
side of our bread is buttered.

Personally I believe our little nation was the stronger when
it came to 9/11...to give Blair his due. Be it a good thing
or a bad thing, he was the one in charge of the situation.

I suppose there's 'for' and 'against'

some would say he put himself in the position
of being hounded, BY speaking out..

others would say

SOMEONE *must* speak out.

Heard that you founded a union, but then couldn't decide whether you'd have a confederation instead!!

Currently very bored - have sat here waiting for the blood to arrive for 1/2 an hour and am running out of bad vampire jokes!

Not the choicest of ways - admittedly,
to spend Independence Day!

but it's all for the good.

The thing I felt tough about blood transfusions
[had a few for anemia]

was, how LONG it took,
not to mention... restricting,
but how wonderful and beneficial
that such can be done at all!

What truly fascinated me,
I was saying to my son,
and he agreed,
was, how the 'thingy' automatically
cut in to take the blood pressure
every so often,
I remember just dozing off,
and being woken by it!

Wonderful technology... must be said.

We are all behind you - in spirit -
Tony,
your guiding us thru' the different stages
is very interesting, considering it's
about
YOU, our well respected friend here ..

but apart from that, it is also *very valuable*
to follow the varying stages...
as outlined by you.
better than any text book.

Thanks:

PS

and.....

FYI,

'You're a star'

Could be, certainly.

Similarly, a 'whistleblower' in an old people's
care home blew the whistle on the cruelty to
the residents...she was hounded out of her job,
her life made a misery, but we all know she did
the right thing by the pople involved. Steps
were taken and the staff removed and replaced.

nevertheless....

A Holy Trinity that was!

It was our respective countries' misfortune that the
two leaders were in power at the same time.
Had it been another two, or even another one, it could
have changed the face of history.

Sir Tally...all due respect..

'he kept Great Britain....'

All four of the countries in the UK and Ireland fought and died for freedom.
