To be honest, I was unaware of the history until I came to live
here, and believe me, I learnt the hard way. I keep telling 'em
it's nothing to do with me, lol.
Ever the instigator El!

<quoted text>One of my worst moments was being pecked through the eye
by a Pea-chick. It was sitting on my shoulder at the time,
you know, like they do, lol, I turned towards, and he
spotted the movement of my eye and wham. Didn't hurt
funnily enough and reassuring to learn that the eye is the
fastest part of the human body to heal.
But did I sue the management who took me in the area to see
the pea-chicks. Not at all, nobody forced me...
Thinking back, I can still see the look of incredibility on the
Optician's face when I went in with this little hole in my eye....
before he fell about laughing!....:)
We people tend to forget they are still wild animals at heart and do what wild animals do from time to time.

Recently one of my dogs got a hold of a bird.....the other a rabbit. They may be spoiled and domesticated but they are still wolves with instinct.

Too true they are. Sad to say, when the 'foot and mouth' was
present here in the sheep, many farmers released their dogs
into the hills where they formed packs and survived as their
ancestors before them did.
Hope you managed to save the bird and rabbit!...:)

Things are good here. With all the tian we've had my veg garden is getting really big --- so are the weeds!
How about you Fish? Getting in a garden this year?
Going to be 103 today in Dallas. It is supposed to get hot later this week :)

here is something for you to think about before we dismiss this and USA is an ogre

doing some more research ...

A]....The kirpan is worn strapped to a belt known as a gatra...

B]....Singh said he was wearing his kirpan underneath his shirt, out of sight.

now if it is a display, why was it hidden... then would it stand to reason that security had to be informed...now who and how , who know it was under his shirt????

Good to see you here again Fish...
Hi El.
I didn't realize there was good fishing over there (still?).
You got my interest up.

Good to hear things are going well. What about the job?
I can see why Checkers might lose interest. Things have changed a lot in topix. The Honolulu Forum is pretty much completely ruined.
I planted 5 crooked neck squash seeds out where I planted the corn I showed you pictures of. One of them has come up. It is by a lemon tree that I have to water, so I can water the squash. It's been very dry. Mrs. Fisherman has sprouts all over the place, she's really getting into it. We'll see what happens, they need to be thinned A LOT and put in bigger pots or in the ground, I think. But it's her business, I'm no one to tell someone how to grow something! She's got 4 kinds of peppers, tomatoes,'snap peas'(beans?), lettuce, ocra, and some others.
What is in your garden?

You mean 103 is not hot? Like Vegas 120 in the shade ..... in July .... and that's no exaggeration. I was there!

Perhaps this will help you understand more about this tradition.

"The kirpan is worn strapped to a belt known as a gatra, and the wearer is specifically forbidden from using the blade in anger or malice. However, traditionally Sikhs were expected to draw their kirpans to defend the helpless, or to assist people in need. This was an important part of the saint-warrior ethos of the Sikh community, with many Sikh men training in martial arts to learn how to effectively defend others from attack.

For a Sikh, the kirpan is a very important religious symbol. Removing the kirpan is not allowed, and it is also emotionally traumatic, because the blade is an important part of the wearer's religious identity. Most Sikhs wear their kirpans under their garments, so bystanders are generally not aware that a blade is even being worn. The kirpan is typically strapped tightly into the belt it is worn with, and it may be worn in a variety of locations, depending on the needs of the wearer.

Unfortunately for Sikhs, people who are not in the Sikh community view the kirpan as a potentially dangerous weapon. Sikhs are asked to remove their kirpans before boarding aircraft, for example, and they are sometimes banned in schools and other public locations, despite protest from the Sikh community. In a desire to accommodate the religious imperative to wear the kirpan, some communities have specifically permitted the use of blunted kirpans, allowing Sikhs to retain this religious symbol while also satisfying local laws in regards to weapons."

Hi Fish,
There are some great places to fish...
One place comes to mind up in the hills, just past 'Pandy'
where The Inn of Sixth Happiness was filmed, a wild area
now. Superb lake, wonderful fishing.

Quite close we have a lake in the most heavenly spot, where on
a noisy day you can hear a pin drop, it is guarded by the Tegid(Faeries) but if you doff your hat, or even an imaginary one, and
say Good Day Fairies when goping through the gate, you will be
sure to have a good catch!

This is Wales and the land of Myths and Legends.

But the fish are real!....:)

Hi Lady Eleanor...
I hope that the world is being kind to you and yours and that you are enjoying a wonderful summer day...
It's free sauna day here in the valley.. the highs in the high 80's, we had some serious storms move through over night so it's really, really humid...
I picked my first green peppers this morning.. so far I've got 2 peppers, 3 cucumbers and a dozen green tomatoes, I sent the tomatoes home with my sister to share with her oldest daughter...
The Gladiolas look wonderful blooming behind the roses and hostas.. It turned out just like I wanted it too...
:o)
Sending you and Yours all of my best wishes...
((Love-n-Hugs))

Good Morning Dear Luke,
In which case a Belated Happy Birthday to you {{{Cuz Luke}}}
glad you had an enjoyable day.
Looking forward to hearing more on the new member of your
soon to be wed daughter's family and hope it goes according
to plan. Have the two dogs met as yet? Love Pit Bulls,
there used to be a tv programme I would watch 'Pitbulls and
Parolees' wonderful what they did in saving this breed, but
it seems to disappeared from view...pity.
Thank you {{{ Cuz El }}} I'll go up the block and bring back a selection of decorative pastries. I'll find the coffee here and start a brew.

I will update about the addition of the new dog to the family. No, they hadn't met until today, assuming all went as planned.

they say to have a successful marriage you need to be able to put the old animosities and hurts behind ... same goes for international unity .. but as you say, millions of people can't be made to forget, can they? Is this why there is always some state of near-war somewhere in the world?

Good post,

like you say, it's impossible to influence or change
SO many minds, we had it here when the IRA were in full swing.

When some of us objected to atrocities that were carried out,
we wouldn't be heard behind a flimsy newspaper.
