I think if you look around many nations of the world you will find some internal divisions based on historical events ... QUebec has twice voted to separate from Canada, the last vote being about 15 years ago and losing 51 to 49 ....<quoted text>
Silly really when we are all part of the United Kingdom, although
there are those in Scotland would like Independence, but considering they are finacially dependent upon Westminster (London)
would be a detrimental move.
Silly too, as basically we are a bunch of mongrels, in that most
have some Irish, Scottish and/or Welsh blood...
although I have yet to trace any Welsh ancestry myself...:)
Welsh pride is to be admired, they wear their patriotism on their
sleeves and shout their nationality from the roof tops, yet half of them, particularly in South Wales, have English ancestry.
I can usually spot the latter at a glance, as they are invariably
taller, the Welsh being short in stature.
There are those in the USA who still think the south should be a separate country, and some in TExas still fly a Texan flag saying they should secede.
Look at Israel/Palestine. Tibet wants out of China, taiwan claims sovereignity and still faces the possibility that china will force them to rejoin.
