A Tribute to the Wonderful Month of June,
by:
(Grace Nerissa)
"JUNE, as month .. was very proud
Would sing her OWN praises .. right out loud
And this she did, without a blush.
'Cos
NO ONE dared to tell her 'HUSH'
For, of all the months..
she reigned supreme
in adding beauty .. to every scene.
I gladly walked the summer land
to view the wonders of her hand.
Down the road, round each bend
Borders of flowers .. without end
Most vivid shades I'd ever seen
n' softer colours in between.
As I stood on a Hill-top high
there .. I saw the reason why
JUNE was really the fairy queen
who held the key to NATURE'S dream.
Through the valley and way beyond
How she waved her magic wand and
touch each tree .. each woodland glade
with a perfect blend of light and shade!
Leaving trails of heavenly scent.
Transforming everything.. as SHE went
Hanging baskets overhead..
Profusion of flowers .. white and red
and many another lovely hue
From 'burgandy'.. to 'baby blue'
Along came the singing honey-bees
Circling in the summer breeze
Spending many daytime hours
kissing all the coloured flowers.
At night JUNE crossed the FIELDS unseen
Bringing EACH .. a different green
'Emerald''Olive''Lime' and ..'Jade'
and afterwards..
on top she laid..
a carpet of wildflowers - for beauty's sake-
Like icing on a birthday cake.
Shining buttercups.. daisies in white.
closing petals .. in evening light...
THEN.. I saw the great JUNE ROSE
Standing there in singular pose.
SO celebrated in song .. and rhyme
Linked with LOVE.. all through time.
curling petals- scarlet red-
softly .. bowed her velvet head.
The YELLOW .. WHITE .. and RAMBLING ROSE-
On and on her miracle flows.
JUNE brought sunshine
EVERYWHERE >
Azure skies -
the longest day-
Perfumed winds
that blew at night-
Summer Stars
twice as bright-
But now , alas, SHE's passing by-
to make way for .. ole' JULY.
And...
JUNE will sleep down the shady glade
In nature's bed which SHE has made.
Leaving behind - a MASTERPIECE grand.
From her GREAT artistic hand.."
Grace...

your poem is beautiful...REALLY beautiful.

I am glad I found it on this day, the longest
day, and also glad you chose to post it here.

I shall keep this if I may, I found it very moving.

Briefly dropping in to wish everyone
a very Good Morning/Afternoon as the case
may be...:)

The longest day already, that has come around
rather quickly don't you find? As Grace pointed
out, the nights will become shorter from now on.

Hope this finds everyone well and looking forward
to weekend.

<quoted text>isn't it wonderful to be able to keep up freindships for so long? My mother is 81 and has a freind she has known since the 7th grade. Sadly, my father's longest time freind, who he also knew since elementary school, just passed away. I ahve fond memeories of this man even though I only saw him a few times since I was 7 years old.
I think so too, Franko...

It shows endurance, patience..
plus the overlooking of little human faults
on ALL our parts,
we have great chats when we meet LOL..
recalling the silly things we did when younger(:

Trust YOUR girls are growing up into lovely

and great company for YOU ..

You were always close with them...
so

You'll reap the benefits now.

I confess I was in tears reading it aloud Grace....:)

Common denominator I expect and so beautifully written.

Well, it's the final tonight (THE VOICE) and would just
like to wish LEAH all the best, one can't judge on one
song, and no denying her range is fantastic....so Good Luck
to her...and I hope it's a good show.

Hello there Trish...

I seem to have missed a day but it goes like that sometimes,
have you much planned for the weekend? Waiting for a decent
day here to have a trip out, but seems rain is on the cards
again...could be a lot worse I know.
Wishing you and all here a splendid weekend.....:)

FRANKO...

That was quite a coincidence wasn't it and good point, wonder
how well read Animal Farm is with the younger gen?

Saw the devastation in Calgary on SKY NEWS earlier, hope that
it is on it's way out by now, scary stuff.

No greater compliment, thank again, El.

Yes,
Preparing for the final of
The Voice,
Overall found it a very good show.

ONE thing I learned from watching these kinds of
contests is,
One can NEVER be certain,
someone everyone would have marked out a
the winner, often times fails to make it!
Lol

Spose the element of surprise is a great draw
and adds to the excitement... Must be said.

Did you know there's also another girl
from Belfast in the final!! coincidence!
Two from Belfast!! She is Andrea, almost
blind, lovely girl, great voice..
The two male finalists are ok but, IMO..
Nothing special..

My money is still on Leah.

However, all told, should be a good night's
Entertainment as the BBC
sure know how to put on the best show!

I hope the lessons of that book and of 21st century history are not forgotten in the future.

That region is not known for flooding problems, this is quite an anomolly ... a combination of spring runnoff of melting snow in the mountains combined with a lot of rain.

Wow! I shocked by the flooding. Not something we often hear about in Canada. Alberta is pretty far east of you isn't it? I imagine Vancouver is rainy like Seattle but hopefully you don't get floods like other areas near bodies of water.

Animal Farm? Brings me back to school days .... when banned books made for insightful reading!

WEll the provinces in Canada are quite large compared to most states .. after all, we have 10 provinces and 3 territorries in the same area you have 50 states. Only ALaska and Texas match most of the provinces in size. Except for the easternmost provinces, which are smaller for some reason.

SO Calgary is about 1000 miles east of us even though it is the next province to us.

Vancouver is "used to the rain" and spring runnoff, so the area has been better prepared with higher dykes at any creeks and rivers that have previously flooded years ago. Yet, if something really out of the normal could happen and we'd end up with floods too.

was ANimal Farm banned??? It was assigned reading for us in grade 9, then we read 1984 in grade 10 ... which for me was 9 years before the actual year.
