Regarding the measles outbreak, like most things, this could have been avoided, in this case, had there been a single 'shot' available rather than the triple MMR which was, either rightly or wrongly, under suspicion of being linked to autism.
Oh well, we live and learn.
Thought I would mention, a new Ken Burns series is coming here soon..WEST...starts on April 29th...looking forward to that.
Earl Grey coming up...:)
Seems like another tea time has rolled around. I hope your weekend excursion for family support was helpful and appreciated (I'm sure it was). I trust Mr. P and yourself are chippy.

You'll be entertained and informed about the American West from Burns' documentary. I've seen it at least twice. It's a "level treatment", and as such you'll possibly be 'cheering for' the Native Americans to "overcome" ... against all reality of the expansion of the United States.

Mid-season viewing here for Call the Midwife for Sunday evening viewing. Followed immediately by a series I hope you could find and sample. I'm sure you would be entertained by this fact-based story about how Harry Selfridge came over in very early 1900s from Marshall Field in Chicago -- this should get Quinny's attention -- and revolutionized department store shopping in London.

Is there anyone amongst us has a shred of pity for the young man of 19 fighting for his life....
I often wondered how people who had lost loved ones could forgive those responsible, in fact I thought it beyond my understanding, that I never could personally if someone took the life of one of my family...yet the Lord's Prayer comes to mind..'Forgive us our trespass as we shall forgive them who trespass amongst us'
I can assure you I was as shocked as anybody at recent events, and have all the sympathy in the world for those stricken...
but regardless of the crime, this is a kid who was cohersed into doing something against his nature...anybody can see that, and he is really paying the price.
While I empathized that this young lad's mind was exploited and twisted by his older brother, the price he's paying isn't complete until he is prosecuted in the justice system which may entail the consideration of that exploitation AND cooperation toward telling all he can about this ... and truthfully ... toward being spared his life and knowing life in prison is justice.

There used to be a thing called innocent until proven guilty in the US. Not anymore. And I for one do not believe half the propaganda the FBI pushes. They caused the mayhem and death that ensued once they released those photographs, photographs mind you. First it was a Saudi national in the hospital, then photographs of two kids with ball caps and backpacks walking in an area filled with people in ball caps carrying backpacks. One is dead and the other presumably cannot speak.
The entire situation is tragic.
You're way out there with this and the post just after ....

Propaganda ????? Bosh.

Yes, there are photos and videos ... by citizens, and surveillance camera -- primarily by private business. Media was given access to most, and then the FBI made available those "smoking gun" video(s) and photos that clearly showed the younger placing that back-pack and moving away. The brother was in that release info too. And these guys were the same that were in the other photos.

FBI did release those last images because:

1. "Citizen crimefighters" on social media were developing a witch hunt 'fingering' innocent people.

2. Since the early days of the FBI, photos of criminals have been used for public awareness toward FBI/police contact for apprehension. Think: John Dillenger; and James Earl Ray was 'fingered' by a Canadian air terminal authority from FBI photos and alerted London Heathrow where J.E. Ray was apprehended.

These subjects "caught themselves" in what transpired by the additional cop killed and the one injured, the car-jacking, and shoot-out with the explosives used ... all initiated by these criminals. And one of these brilliant guys told the owner that he/they did the marathon bombing.

There is plenty of evidence to support all that the Boston, MA State, and Watertown police forces, and the federal authorities have done.

All criminals are innocent until proven guilty, or admitting guilt in a court of law. That's our justice system.

Some of you may recall I had to scrap a planned US trip to ski because of a persistent sore throat. That sore throat has now been diagnosed as cancer at the base of the tongue and on the tonsil. Fortunately, there are no secondaries.
Chemo starts tomorrow and I've been told with that and radiotherapy to put my life on hold for 6 months. Unfortunately, this has meant cancelling all work (including our pitch for the Glastonbury Festival - thank goodness they're refunding the fee of 4,500) and will mean selling one of the yachts from the sailing school. Don't care - health is much more important than money.
Please folks, no fuss. I have every intention of beating this, the only daunting part is the unknown of treatment, and that becomes clearer tomorrow.
Suffice it to 'say'... grit and spirit of a Cornish sailor and family and friend support with professional medical expertise will put you right as rain!

Nowhere in my comment - which is my opinion and I'm entitled to have one - did I say that the young man in the hospital isn't likely one of the perpetrators. Your second to last statement acknowledges "innocent until proven guilty."

Two words:'Miranda' & 'lawyer'. When did get either?????

And yes, its FBI propaganda and spin -
-
First the suspect was a Saudi national in the hospital with other victims.

Then it's the younger brother actually killed his older brother by running over him.

Everything Dzkokhar allegedly said has been through FBI 'sources'. Pretty amazing for a kid who lost a lot of blood and was shot in the throat and leg.

The authorities and alphabet soup Feds in particular lack complete credibility in my book and they spin things to make themselves look good.

It makes the suspect no less guilty; however as we've all been told,'believe half if what you see and none of you hear'.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-23124...

I did not ask you or anyone else to agree with me, or even listen. You can however respect my right to an opinion.

And dare I say, framing suspects is not beyond something the FBI or police are capable of doing.

Krypteia, Sir Tally, Denny and Deer Whisperer, Franko and all who visit the Kitchen.

We have rain.

Not that it is ground breaking news, but the forecast was we were to have the hottest day of the year today....:( can't believe those weathermen.

I had an exciting e-mail when I got back on Sunday evening, from a lady in Canada whose husband is my second cousin twice removed. Since then, after years of futile searching, I have photographs of my paternal Grandmother, her brother in WW1 uniform, his son, the most fabulous photograph, and am being reunited with living descendants
still in Manchester.

Just thought I would share.
