Are we Christians or what?
Is there anyone amongst us has a shred of pity for the young man of 19 fighting for his life....
I often wondered how people who had lost loved ones could forgive those responsible, in fact I thought it beyond my understanding, that I never could personally if someone took the life of one of my family...yet the Lord's Prayer comes to mind..'Forgive us our trespass as we shall forgive them who trespass amongst us'
I can assure you I was as shocked as anybody at recent events, and have all the sympathy in the world for those stricken...
but regardless of the crime, this is a kid who was cohersed into doing something against his nature...anybody can see that, and he is really paying the price.
Yes it is true about what is said in
the Lord's Prayer, I suppose
[speaking only for myself here]
that's what make me VERY different
from the Lord who expects that]!!

I couldn't so easily turn the other cheek..
to certain horrors freely inflicted by others.

It is, of course profoundly sad that those
young brothers allowed themselves down
that road, THE JIHAD BROTHERS as they're
called here..

Whether it is a flaw in me or what I dunno,
but I cannot honestly feel pity for him,
yes he's young, but also we've been
told again and again HOW bright of mind he was,
and he got great chances in life.
Damn it, if he was that bright, it doesn't follow
that he would be so easily coerced or would go along, zombie like..

He was a bright young man and had choices.

I know someone of similar age 19.. whose Mom died suddenly,
his Dad is now ailing, they own a large Pub,
this young chap is running the pub all by himself,
as well as looking after his ill Dad who lives with him,
and in the evenings, he's is seen out chopping wood
for the furnace, always, delightful, pleasant and mannerly
and most certainly didn't get one quarter of the
educational chances that were given to the Boston
19 yr old.

We all have choices El, about what to do, even when young,
and WHAT we do with them .. and the consequences that
flow from them
it's all up to ourselves:

Some of you may recall I had to scrap a planned US trip to ski because of a persistent sore throat. That sore throat has now been diagnosed as cancer at the base of the tongue and on the tonsil. Fortunately, there are no secondaries.
Chemo starts tomorrow and I've been told with that and radiotherapy to put my life on hold for 6 months. Unfortunately, this has meant cancelling all work (including our pitch for the Glastonbury Festival - thank goodness they're refunding the fee of 4,500) and will mean selling one of the yachts from the sailing school. Don't care - health is much more important than money.
Please folks, no fuss. I have every intention of beating this, the only daunting part is the unknown of treatment, and that becomes clearer tomorrow.
Tony, im so sorry to hear this. if u dont mind, i'd like to make a suggestion, join a support group. while i understand some people find it hard to do, it sometimes helps talking to strangers going thru the same thing - someone who truly understands.
take care friend, u will be in my prayers..

Imagine they'd immediately
put a dog to death if it bit someone!

When a Liverpool player does it,

he's excused 'cos he's talented!!!???

WHERE are their principles? Ummm!

Is that fair.

Not at all, in my book..

No El, i for one have NO pity for this young man.
within each and every one of us is the ability to understand right from wrong. he knew exactly what he was doing and showed no pity for others. he chose his own destination, now he must pay the price.
its easy to say we're christians but, we still are human, with emotions to deal with.
if there is any pity to feel it should be for the young people who lost their lives, families that have been forever torn apart - and for what???
these were "men" who were out to destroy others simply because they themselves could not cope with life, feeling its their right to make others suffer because of their own failure..
I agree with everything you say PFfff..except I do not regard the
surviving young man as not being able to cope with life...
I certainly don't condone what they did...just feel that he is the only one answerable and that it was out of character.
Hardly good timing on my part to show any sympathy, feelings still running high, and I never could understand people who forgave those
who took the lives of their loved ones during the periods we had the numerous attacks over here, but somehow I feel there was a world of difference in their premeditated attacks and the one in Boston.

How many people's lives have been ruined by accusation? The general public is being fed so much misinformation we believe what the authorities tell us. The pressure was too high - they had to hang it on someone. With one dead and the other clinging to life, the case can be closed if he dies with no on knowing what really happened or why.
Look what happened to Richard Jewell
https://www.google.com/search...
It is within the realm of possibilities that these two people were not responsible for the bombs at the marathon at all.
A most interesting theory Quincy...food for thought.

There was no cause which makes any sense. Tragic all round
indeed.

That there are no secondaries is brilliant news Tony, every chance
that this can be nipped in the bud and the sooner the better.
You can be assured that you are in our thoughts and prayers here

Well Grace, as the Manager of this fine club said..
"no player, no manager, is bigger than the club"
having said that, he appreciates how valuable this
player is to the team and anger management classes
are in place to assist the player deal with his frustrations.
Personally, I would hate to see this player go as a result
of his actions, and did I see blood? no I did not.
He is world class and as such, is a genius in his field,
genius are apt to behave that little bit odd on occasions.
Anyway, it was only a little nip!

I am very surprised with your
post El,
NOT intending to be argumentative,
and you're entitled to your opinion.

I know he is very talented and there's
big money involved too..
but interesting how they are prepared to put all that before his
disgraceful behaviour toward his fellow players
is very very... shabby, indeed ... at least to me...

There's a old saying

'what is sauce for the goose
is sauce for the gander'

but, obviously..

'what is sauce for a dog that bites
isn't the same for a talented sports figure'!!!
