Thanks El,
So glad you saw it too,
it is an excellent show..
and credit where due,
it's better than our own version IMO.
to date in ours, no 'star' appeared,
some good singers, yes,
but, no more than that.
I spotted the likeness between the guy and Will/I am
even before they mentioned it,
but lol
NO kudos for me as the likeness stood out, a mile.
One thing I don't agree with tho' is
the judges laughing & joking between themselves and running around
each other's
seats while the lady or gent is having their audition..
I think, out of respect they should remain still and judge
'properly'
Tom Jones is very good at this.
I find that the first couple of seasons of the VOICE were not up to the IDOL or XFACTOR standard, but the last season and this one seem to have caught up ... what do you think?

Lady El, I think the tv show you are referring to is "Gidget". I do believe that was Sally Field. She also starred in "The Flying Nun".
Now, the chap at the pub that understood my joke about the BBC, lived in Scotland for 18 months. He has TRUE UK humor that he only shares with a few. Some of the American men don't get his references and look at him rather dumbfounded!
Brighteyes and I caught the tail end of Shaun of the dead. Truly a British version of ALL the American made zombie movies. There were a few phrases that I had to explain. For example, "wanker". I giggled like a school girl on that one! There were others that escape me now.
I am on the mend. Come Thursday, another trip to the hospital to have the staples removed. Wow! There goes my free BBC in my head! LOL! I am now regulated to computer listening only!
Hope all is well with everyone in the kitchen.
Peace.
Good Morning Boomer....och aye, the Scots have a dry sense of humour alright, your friend had good training then. They have this reputation of being dour, whatever that may mean, and then again, Glaswegian humour varies from that of let's say, Edinburgh...take
Billy Connolly for instance. So funny.
Glad to hear that you are on the mend...you were so lucky by all accounts, although bad enough.
Have you any recipes for our kitchen Boom? I found a neat one
using the Kahlua...
Wishing you a great day....:)

Cutting in for a mo....coincidentally, Oliver Stone was on
The One Show last night which follows on from the News. VERY
interesting man. His series 'The Untold History of U.S.A'
is shortly to be released here, some footage was shown last night,
is this the series you are watching now?

OH!

I agree with you completely!

I find also, the two types of
shows are not in
the same league;
some folks find THE VOICE a gimmick..
interesting way to see it!

I don't remember them doing that in the last series, or at
least so much, but I agree, most annoying and unnecessary.
It's ridiculous! But I must own up, I didn't see the likeness
until it was pointed out, lol, and then I was still searching
for it! Quite funny when will said they could possibly have
the same Dad...:)
I'll be there next Saturday, watching alongside you Grace, it's
fun to compare notes as well.
Me too!

and, as you say,
GREAT to compare notes,

Isn't the case in England of the couple
who set fire to the house which
'killed' 6 children .. truly shocking!

OMG!

he was 'something else',
and not too proud here... to say he was married
to an Irish lassie!!
who was just as bad, it seems..

I hope they are put away for a long time,
God forgive me, but it's hard to feel
*any sympathy* for them...
when one sees on TV, all the beautiful
healthy children lined up..
now wiped out .. gone forever! SHOCKING:

That is the very one :) He tears in on Obama which surprised me. His beef with Obama is that he is just like Bush on the war policy. He is very anti war and says the atom bomb should not have been dropped. Like most of these guys hind sight makes it easy to judge what might have happened. To hear him tell it the Soviets were the good guys and would have not taken over Europe :)

Good day to all!
Allow me a moment to catch up. Thursday I am scheduled to have the staples removed. My curiosity makes me think what tool shall be used. Basic staple remover or pliers? There is a joke here...
I would like to thank all as to my recovery. This injury has enlightened me as to how frail if not fragile a life can be!

The talent shows that air here and in the UK really leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion. Other than Sarah Boyle, none of them have an absolute talent that I would pay to go see! All of those shows remind me of a Chuck Barris presentation from decades gone by. It was called, "The Gong Show". How dreadful! Somehow, there are folks that are pre-disposed of being made fun of. Take the stage hypnotist for example, there are a series of questions that are asked to find out if you are good subject for the show.

My newest recipe for dear EL, is my version of a pineapple, mango, habanero, and cilantro sauce that I used with chicken over jasmine rice. Let me know if you need the measurements. I will do my best to convert to metric! LOL!

Enjoy the day folks. Brighteyes would like to try her hand at hot cross buns this weekend.
Peace.

Could anybody shed some light on this please.
I think it was around the same time as 'Rhoda'
was televised, there was a series in which a
young Dad brings up his daughter, a teen, who
has a friend, and the show centres around them.
I know it isn't much to go on, but it was one
of my favourite television programmes at that
time, I cannot for the life of me remember the
name of it. The dad was really dishy and the
girls trendy and funny.
Anyone? Thanks.
try this.......... Raising Dad
sitcom about a widowed father struggling to separate his professional & personal lives and keeping his sanity while raising two daughters.

Hope you'll get the job done
successfully.

There is 'for' and 'against'
these talent show,
and, granted everyone has a different way of looking at
the.. which is healthy.

There have been some great successes from these shows,
like LEONA LEWIS: ALEXANDRA BURKE..
and dance acts such as SPELLBOUND (who were indeed aptly names)
and DIVERSITY.

I also find interesting that some finalists who don't make it
to winning, often times race ahead 'out in the world' ie> "One Direction" and "Ollie Murs"
to become 'bigger' than the winning acts,
who often fall away when the show is done and dusted.

I think that is the secret of the success of these shows,
the unpredictable nature of it all..

In any case that Simon Cowell.. Louis Walsh etc.
are dead clever guys, it must be said .. in the art of knowing how to
take and prime time TV spots and manage to maintain the
public interest through
the long winter with shows like X FACTOR and BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT.

I agree with you, I also I do NOT like,
[and we talked about this before here]

is... less talented folks.. or folks
who are not [compos mentis] being allowed
slip through the net and appear on stage for the 'entertainment'
of the masses..

I feel the Producers were ticked off about this sort of thing,
as it appears to be less so..

Dear Dear, me!
Grace...that couple are nothing less than serial killers.
Prison is far too good for them. There, he will be called
'Mr' and shown every consideration as in the 'Human Rights'
bill.
Since you mentioned them, the headlines in the newspapers
declare 'Mick was a good Dad'.
Since then they have expressed a wish to have sex 'on their
kiddies graves' and I quote.
A truly deplorable case.
Those poor kids...and further...their poor half siblings who
must be well aware of the reason for the tragic deaths.
A disgrace.

Bora Da a chi Cariad. I tried a bit of my Welsh out yesterday
in the store, wished an elderly couple Maen Braf (Nice Day)
ten minutes later they were still chatting to me in Welsh!
When they laughed I laughed, but I thought it was going to go
on for ever so I managed to get in that I only have a little bit of Cymraeg....but they both said 'well done' for trying. Common decency really, it's their country.
Has to be the most difficult language ever though!
Any signs of Summer yet in your part of the world?...:)
