It is no doubt late over the pond and still somewhat early here in the mid-west USA However, I have felt the need to pose a riddle if you will.

WHo do we look like compared to an actor/actress?
With all due respect to the Kitchen folk, I will guess that Lady El and Dame Judi Dench...

Who is next?
Let's bring in Spring with laughter!

Thanks.

Happy Spring Equinox Everyone, beautiful day here, every day
is beautiful.

Boomer....what a brilliant idea and how flattering is that. I
adore Judi Dench...we do share one resemblance in that I am very
quietly spoken also, and can dissolve into giggles at the drop
of a hat....

I found this immensly flattering in a way also. Years ago when I live in NYC...I had gone down to the foyer where I met a lady who
as it happened was wheelchair bound, we got talking. Suddenly she
exclaimed 'my, but you are like Jackie 'O'.' Well thankyou I replied, I am so flattered.
'Oh I don't think she's good looking' was the reply.....hahaha
Never forgot that.

Good to start the day with some laughs around here....who's next
on our list of look-a'likes?

All are enjoying conversation in the kitchen.
(there is a wrap at the door)
Good afternoon Lady El or should I say Dame Judi Dench!
(Laughter erupts from the kitchen)
Good afternoon Brighteyes and welcome to the kitchen.
(Brighteyes) So obviously I missed something?
(Lady El) Well my Dear, Sir Denny was saying how great Judi DRENCH was in Skyfall!(laughter)
(Brighteyes walking over to get some tea)
Well my only question is...... is Denny Cranes avatar really him? Maybe we should do his
look a'like next?
(looking across the room) Sir Tallyho, what say you?

Tony, would that be the original Frankenstein OR the Mel Brooks version?
Too funny!
However, in the original, the "monster" was quoted as saying, "...friends, good!"

Dame Judi turns around from taking a tray of chocolate muffins from the cooker....
'Why, if it isn't Felicity Kendal, how lovely to see you my dear'
Brighteyes looks puzzled....then remembers Felicity Kendal starring in The Good Life....loved you in The Good Life Judi remarks, we need somebody with your love of plants and your green fingers around here...she was about to add 'and your delightful persona' but thought that Brighteyes might be a bit taken aback that coming from a woman...
as they spoke a rather handsome gent came strolling into the kitchen....

I made a humouress (or humourless whichever way you look at it) remark about football players yesterday, which was tastless really.

A heartwarming story in the press this morning
concerning a player who not only plays for his tea...Barnet...but manages as well. Without pay.

The other night he and his team were travelling along in their luxury coach, going home after a match, in which they had been defeated and faced relegation, when he spotted a group of Barnet fans huddled at the side of the road, their coach had broken down, they had a long journey home.

The player of whom I speak, upon reaching a service station, requested his team to dismount, and asked the driver to go back to where the fans were waiting in the freezing cold, and bring them back to the service station, where he bought them all coffee and they met the team, who gave them of their time, posing for pics, etc., then he arranged transport for them all to reach their homes safely, over 200 miles away.

He said it was the least he could do for the fans.

Well done EDGAR DAVIDS.

this is why is was .....Court unanimously overturned ..........
United States Supreme Court case in which the Court unanimously overturned accounting firm Arthur Andersen's conviction of obstruction of justice in the fraudulent activities and subsequent collapse of the Enron corporation, on the basis that the jury instructions did not properly portray the law Andersen was charged with breaking. The decision was Pyrrhic {victory in which the victor's losses are as great}
I remember reading that in the news at the time .. and I remember thinking "then do the trial over again, new jury, get it right" ... why allow those offenders to get off scott-free on a technicality?

Bora Da!
the truth is, I would grow bored if all anyone talked about was the weather and their pets (no offense to all you pet lovers, I have one too!). It is the fact that a variety of things come up, including word events and politics that keeps me coming back.

that you imply..
folks who are not too interested

There is a *huge* variety of subjects

I just grow *weary* of the same old

not singling out THE KITCHEN, as such, only
for criticism..
I often grow weary [too] of late night TV
shows that quickly turn to politics
and proceed to bore the pants off an audience.
I suppose it's as well we are all
different.
Perhaps that's the bottom line.
I did not interpret it that way at all Grace ... I think she just meant that different things interest different people, and so depending on who you talk to, you get to know what specific people like to talk about. That's all I got out of it.

I am taken back in time to when I was a new bride, 19 years of age and visiting my in-laws for Sunday lunch.
After preliminary greetings, the men and women were then segregated, the men sat discussing world affairs, the latest scores in sport etc., while we women congretated in the kitchen to assist in preparing the Sunday meal. To which I had been invited as a guest! lol
Conversation at the table was polite, then after lunch we ladies made our way to the kitchen while the gents took to the armchairs, had a smoke, perhaps a drink and resumed conversation which it appeared was far too much for feminine ears!
Putting the world to rights.
This was alien to me, who always believed in the Freedom of Speech....
and so it is to this day, we have the British Press under fire talking about censoring everything that they they are allowed to publish..this after 300 years of Free Press.
In this kitchen, Everybody is welcome to discuss what they will, anything and everything.
It has always been that way..otherwise, how will we learn?
Cheers.

<quoted text>Good morning Mighty Quinn. You are my favorite oerson to disagree with. I hate government even when Republicans are in charge. I just think conservatives are less harmful. Obama doesn't think we have a spending problem at all. We can't continue to borrow half of what we spend. You know where that will end for all of us. It is a disgrace that we have 40 million people on food stamps
Sadly Government is necesary, how else would a country run? It would be nice to figure out how to run a government without party politics, favoritism, nepotism, corruption, etc etc ...
