Hey Denny!? I'm watching Candy & Mitch McConnell -- will pols ever give a straight answer in son English? And how can he say we need to just cut spending without raising taxes??? Seems to me the concept of a budget is doing both.

The Democrat controlled senate hasn't given us a budget for 4 years. The law doesn't mean much to congress. Hey we just had a 60 billion dollar tax increase. Tax and spend is all Democrats know. Did you hear Maxine Waters say the sequestration would cost 170 million jobs when there are only 140 million jobs to begin with. Maybe she plans on lay offs in Europe :)What do you think of Obama selling the office. All you have to do is give $500,000 to his committee and you get invited to the white house 4 times a year for private conversation with Obama. Hell Clinton rented out the Lincoln bedroom

Cutting 2% should be real easy. We have so many programs that do the same thing. About 27 reeducation programs. Dozens of feeding children programs. Hollywood gets all kinds of tax breaks. We sure don't need federal money going to the arts. Obama promised to cut the deficit in half and goes crazy when they want to cut spending increases by 2% We will spend 13 billion more this year than we did last year. These are cuts in the growth and not real cuts in actual spending

I don't disagree, but you did not answer my question. How do the republicans think the deficit can be resolved and the budget balked without raising taxes...on EVERYONE?!?!?!

The concept of balanced budget is reduce spending and increase revenue. Both, not one or the other. Not a hard concept.

Cutting spending alone with the current rates will not solve anything in the short term or the long term.

It's basic accounting.

Again I ask, just answer my blasted question instead of all these superfluous facts - the problem cannot and will not be resolved by bigger spending cuts without an increase in revenue ie taxes. A bitter pill but the truth. The republicans are delusional to keep saying otherwise.

Increasing revenue alone or just massive cuts to spending alone is not a solution.

I don't give a rats behind how much you and the conservatives dislike Obama, my question, which you did not answer -- and it was a simple yes/no question --- was how can the republicans insist on cuts alone? A budget includes both and the republicans have no plan to increase revenue.

Democrats don't want to tax everyone. 47% of people pay no federal income tax at all. Democrats want the few to pull the wagon for the many. Democrats invented the welfare state. LBJ started the great society with mass welfare. Before LBJ's handout nearly all blacks were Republican. Welfare bought the black vote

We had a 60 billion dollar tax increase now where are the spending cuts? The Democrats and Obama say we don't have a spending problem. At the end of his 8 years we will have a 120 trillion dollar debt or more. The only way to ever balance the budget is have business boom and get more tax from expansion of the economy

European taxes is a pretty blanket term. Our standard rate of income tax is 20%, the top rate is 40%. Your tax grading is more complicated, but top rate is 39.8%

In the depression of the 1930s, when the basis of US welfare began, kids were virtually starving, families were homeless. Are you suggesting FDR's New Deal was not necessary? It was the first time the economic 'good times' had ended for the USA and the system was found to be severely wanting. Today, many of those on food stamps hold down jobs - but minimum wage in the USA is insufficient to provide for them - as even Bush realised, which is why the programme survived under Republican Presidents.

Be careful about dishing Europe - yet again you use the catch-all phrase of "European socialism". As I have mentioned before - socialism is not the term any economist would use, they refer to a mixed economy. Socialism involves the control of the factors of production, not simply having a system of state medical care. The GOP uses the term inaccurately as a scare tactic, just as they suggest that Obama can pick and choose what cuts come in under sequestering. He can't, that's the whole point of the draconian system of sequester. It is a last ditch attempt to make Congress, who are responsible for the budget, see sense and so cherry-picking is not allowed under the process: cuts have to be across the board (with a few exceptions such as defence).

In passing, US friends and a couple of us Brits did a comparison of medical costs in our two countries. Cost of broken leg care in UK, including use of ambulance is about £650 (just under $1,000). Cost of similar in USA -$10,000-$15,000. Difference in UK - no profit element.

With due respect Denny, could we drop the 47% figure that comes up again and again - the misleading nature of it has been discussed here (and elsewhere) ad infinitum. It is correct as a raw figure, but paints an inaccurate picture in what it implies.

Hi Lady Eleanor...
I've heard of devocalization of dogs before but I think it is inhumane and would never be in favor of it for any reason..
Dogs can be trained out of barking.. Anything that eats can be trained... so having said that I'm still trying to convince my pack that not all noises are worth barking over.. They get the message but their instincts over ride my training at times..
When I put them to bed at night they are very quiet because they want a bedtime treat.. In the morning however they are all ready to get up and at the day... I can call them down when they bark at something they shouldn't and they will shut up..
Denny mentioned bark collars and they are an effective training method but it does involve shocking the animal and I'm not the person who could make that choice..
I go for the reward training system..
If they are good they get a treat.. if they have to be called down then they don't get treats..
They have all figured that out but like I said there are still times when they bark because instinct tells them it is what they are supposed to do...
I've lived here for going on 3 years and no one has ever made a complaint concerning barking or anything else about My Pack for that matter..
I hope that your day was a great one and that your night has been as good or better...
Sending You and Yours all of my best wishes...

@}-'--,---
The sweetest image of your Pack having their treats at bedtime....
they are very lucky to have such a caring owner as yourself Dear
Rose.
I don't have any dogs now, but one time was trained by the Police
to train my German Shepherd, that might sound grander than it actually was, it was a friend who was a Park Police Officer, he trained me to train my dog, within a fortnight and many hours of dedication, my dog was trained to the Police Dog Standard, minus being trained to go for the arm, as it was explained, I would have a lethal weapon on my hands if we went so far.
I managed to reach that level without the aid of a bark collar....:)
In all honesty my friend took me in hand because until that point, it was the classic 'who is taking who for a walk'..that sort of thing, but then he got delusional and fancied his chances at training my Great Dane...we didn't progress very far with that one.
That was all way back when..had many rescues since then, all happy to be just good companions...if they 'sat' and 'down' then that was good enough for me.
Anyway, enough of me, lol..
Have a great day my friend....<3

Indeed. I second that. The Queen is doing great, she is in the right place for the moment...she needs rest, and we can remind ourselves that the Queen Mum lived to be 101 so longevity there.
