Good Morning El! It sounds like GB is coming along. Our animals don't understand when we try to keep them quiet for recovery. It's their nature to go and run and explore.

Another notch is the prposed gun control laws...wouldn't you say?
Good Morning Sir Tally, and Good Morning to all who visit the kitchen.
you can have a single shot or an unlimited shot , that isn't the prob....

EXAMPLE: the drunken driver lost what: his privilege to operate a MV.... not the MV or the Alcohol...

our government needs to control the operator of [owner]
of a weapon..... but our Government has nothing to do with that ,it is each State's right ,as purposed by your Magna Charta ....[think article 63?] and our 2nd

so in essence we have 50 sets of rules the worst is Texas and who is crying the loudest ? a Texan I believe

the very laws of our country as well as your give the same
rights to the criminal ....

El, it's sol cold I was wondering if our 4-legged friends are allowed in the Kitchen? My dogs would like to curl up by the fire and I made them promise not to bother all the kitties.

I spent some time yesterday reading up on the Civil War.....it is no wonder opinions vary in the kitchen. Quite some history.

Good Morning Quincy. You are so right...and GB is one who
loves to play out....check on his terrority...sit in the
sun. This is the first time in his life he hasn't been allowed
out. I keep on telling him 'plenty of time to go out'....
he is enjoying his food now so that is a plus.

Something that has been puzzling me recently....the old saying ...'An Englishman's home is his castle'....well we all know how
castle's were defended, but there is no moat
round my house, no 'murder holes' with which
to pour boiling oil on any intruders.....
so what do you do?
Could it possibly be that a gun is the only answer?
Then again, they are illegal here, so back to 'what does one do if under threat'?

I have been attempting to follow your countries politics, which is not an easy task (I thought our own was complicated until now)!
but, if you don't mind my butting in, this post, to me, says it all.
Can we blame Obama for this situation though, as has been pointed out, the country was in dire straights before his administration in 'control'. Thanks Denny.
El Bush spent far to much. In 8 years he spent 4 trillion dollars but Obama spent 6 trillion in 4 years and is on track to do the same in the next 4 years. The size of our government has expanded greatly. Government employees make far more than their counter parts in the private sector.

Texas has great gun laws and a must issue policy for concealed carry. We have about 500,000 with CCL and our crime rates have dropped as all states who have CCL. The more guns among the lawful people the lower the crime rates are. In the UK most guns are illegal but that doesn't stop criminals from having guns

I can't believe that if someone is breaking into your home you can't defend your castle. I here of people in the UK going to jail because they defended their home. That is so strange to us. In Texas if someone is on your property at night you can shoot them. If someone is breaking in your home you can use deadly force to protect your home and property. You can shoot someone breaking into your neighbors home if they are armed. We also have the death penalty and use it often for murders. I would like to see the use of a gun in a crime to be a federal laws to get the criminals off the streets

El as Tally pointed out even here the states take such different views on guns and protecting your life and castle. Both coast are have higher crime rates and more restrictive gun laws. Most of the middle of the country has a heritage of guns and we see them needed for defense.

Yes but Denny, that 4 trillion Bush spent would be valued
at about 10 trillion now ..it's called inflation, and too
many administrators, just the same over here.

I don't know if I would feel more ill at ease knowing there was an intruder, or knowing that the general public could arm themselves at will. It's like car drivers, it's the other drivers you have to watch out for. Too many idiots.
