Nice of you say Denny. Incidentally there is no such thing as
a 'fast lane', as the blanket speed is 70 mph on the motorways
the two outer lanes are overtaking lanes and the inner lane is regarded as a slow lane due to coaches and HGV's having a
'ceiling' of 60 mph.
60 max on a duel carriageway.
the same rules apply here. WE are taught to let others pass if they want to, even if that means they are speeding to do so ... it is considered courtesy. It is not up to individuals to control how others drive, as it will just make them angry and drive even more recklessly..

Hi Franko ... thanks for the good luck wishes ... 2 wks and 5 days out of sx and things are getting much better thank goodness ... Hope all is well on the home/work front for you as well ... here are the rules as we know them and if I left something out maybe Rose Bud can correct me as I typed them off the top of my head on the tips of my fingers without proofreading because my caregiver was here talking to me and my multi-tasking is not up to par as of this writing, lol ... so here goes:
0-zero is a wild card which can be used n a couple of 2 ways ...
0132 ---> a straight 1234
0212 ---> 3 2's and an ace high ( the 1 is an ace and the extra card is doubled since you've got 3 2's with the 0 being the wild card ...
7705 ---> 3 7's over 2 5's gives you a full house ... you take the 3 7's and double the 5 giving you a full house ... ALSO ...
1117 ... you CAN make it 3 of a kind BUT in actuality ... it IS 3 aces' over 7's ... that is the rule we made ... sometimes even I forget that rule ...
1111 ... 4 of a kind, best hand ...
4440 ... 4 of a kind, best hand ... of couse, 4 aces beat anything ...
examples of a straight ...
1234
5768
4065 just remember to scramble the numbers to read the straights ... and remember the 0's are wild ...
0857
and so on ...
2656 ... your pair of 7's got me so I fold like an ironing board, lol ...
Enjoy your evening! FC <3 ...
I hope the new caregiver is working out well ... did you ever get an explanation as to the other's untimely departure? I mean, I can't imagine that you are that difficult to work for? LOL!!!

I knew all those rules except did not know 0 was wild ... have to keep that in mind!!!

Good Afternoon Grace, Tony and Krypt...
Good Morning Flower, Quincy, Brighteyes,Rose, Denny
Boomer and all here
SIR TALLY....cider is served....:)
What can I say...it has been a beautiful day here, not a drop of rain which, conidering I live in the wettest part of the UK, literally, is nothing short of a miracle,
FLOWER...you would be happy with the amount of rainfall we get here, so much so when I first moved here a neighbour took me on a tour of the mountains to see the 'cataracts' tumbling down the mountains....a dry day is a dream....
actually had my washing out on this crisp day.
TONY...thinking of your friend, sincerely hope he has pulled through.
Have been backwards and forwards to the Vets, one,
Ginger Bailey has a heamatoma and may require surgery at the end of the week....difficult one, he is 15 yrs old...but in fine shape.
Sad time for Vee who has lost her beloved Wolfhound. Grand old age, but hiuge loss.
Snow forecast tomorrow.....it is on the tops as
I look out my window now.
Have a great day everyone.
Sadly, Trevor Grills died in hospital yesterday from the head injuries he sustained. Although I had met the group, I wouldn't class him as a friend - I just like Fishermen's Friends music.

No 70 mph is the max legal limit in England, although there are more than a few who break that on motorways, so much so that a cop friend of mine admitted that if you stay under 80 mph, you won't be done as they can't police it.

Inj Germany, the autobahns have NO limit - scary!

Sorry to contradict you ER - 70 is the speed limit on dual carriageways (like the A38), 60 is for two way traffic roads which have the de-limited sign up.

so two people died from that one door??? What kind of door is that and why was it so precariously set up that it could fall on someone? It must have weighed several hundred pounds or more?

Several years ago a member of a popular Canadian band, the RANKIN FAMILY, died in a car accident. Another died of an aneurism and a third one died just last year of breast cancer. All before the age of 62. ONly 2 members are still alive. WEird how such things can happen in one family.

They were from Nova Scotia where a lot of celtic influence still exists, they sang some songs in that language.

Here is one of their most famous songs

The smae over here ... I can set my cruise control at 9 kph over the speed liit and never worry ... however 10 MPH is 16 Kph ... that we can't get away with.

A freind of mine used to soup up his cars, we once went 140 MPH.

I have been on the AUtobahn going 290 KPH (181 MpH)... that is scary.

My understanding is that Germany has cut back the number of places where unlimited speed is allowed, and the rules are strictly enforced ....

You have a good point there Franko...no sense in winding anybody up in a situation such as that.
Although I must admit that I took a driver 'to task' on one
occasion, he was in front of me, and narrowly avoided forcing a motorcyclist off the road who was coming towards....
As my son had at that time been driven into, on his motorbike,
the tool of his trade as he was filling in at that time as a courier, he almost lost his life, his bike was a write-off...
I chased the car driver a couple of mile and collared him when he pulled into a garage...he thought it very funny until I threatened to report him at the next police station I came to....got an assurance he would drive more carefully. Course he would!

Not at all Tony...meant to say single carriageway. Still
getting used to these bloody drovers' roads here...anything
other than that is a motorway!

We could set the speed control on our vehicle, but the roads being such, there could be three varying speed limits within a space of
a few miles.
I recall with nostalgia doing 150mph on the newly opened M1 way
back when (I was not the driver) and the car was not souped up, just a Jag XK?

Good morning El. Looks like you have a fine windy day ahead. I watched the state of the union message last night. What a mess! By law congress must pass a budget and the president must submit a budget every year. We haven't had one for 3 years now. Tax and spend and we are spending twice as much as we bring in.When Obama was a Senator he made speaches about how terrible it was that Bush spent 4 trillion dollars in 8 years and now he has spent 6 trillion in just 4 years. To make matters worse they say we don't have a spending problem
