I went to the store, a while ago -
and included Ali's walk,
altho' it's a DREADFUL day weather wise-
lashing rain .. bitter cold .. high winds.

Purchased a few bits for my friend who is
in hospital, bought Ali a treat,
which I often do..
Her bright eyes watch me excitedly as I approach the car,
I think she knows, at this stage,
there will be goodies in the bag!
just like little children know(:

I was happy & content in myself..

Until .....

at the checkout,
I spotted the banner headline on our
Evening Newspaper.. displaying
an act of gross animal cruelty,
it 'threw' me completely..
and I returned in a different mood.

I wouldn't repeat here what was involved,
just to say the animal in question is now
at peace .. and the cops are looking for the perpetrators.

All I can say is...
the question is often asked

Are there ALIENS among us?

I say YES..
because people who treat animals brutally
are completely *alien* to me... and the rest of us decent folks.

The truly sad part regarding what you say is that the US criminal system is stacked in favor of the offender and the victim is victimized all over again. There is something to be said for criminal laws in other countries. I just read where an American journalist was sentenced to 10 years in jail for like insulting some king.

Is there balance in any system?

Lately, there have been some trolls here that like to spew their personal venom in an element of anonymity. There are threads for that balderdash and rot! What is your point in ruining a friendly thread that you get your jollys about? You dear troll(s) are no better than the conflicts that are happening around the planet! Pick one! Sexism, hatred, bias, and the list goes on. Sure, I left some out but you know what I am talking about!

Bottom line, if you don't have something nice to say, bugger off...(Thanks EL and my friends across the Pond.) You have crossed the threshold of a persons kitchen. If you can't post something here that you would say to YOUR mom, don't do it here!

I'm in Vancouver Canada on the west coast 3 hours drive from Seattle ....

NO insomnia since we are 3 hours difference from the eastern time zones ... only 908 PM here right now.
