Go back a few pages to the link Deer W provided. In Armstrong's interview with Oprah (the link) he seemed to try to dismiss the sheer depth of what he did by saying "yeah but it wasn't as bad as the _____ team did in the '80s" without going back to the link I can't recall the exact country but think it was European.
Trying to justify his actions. I don't want to join the knockers
particularly, having said that it should now be left out of media limelight, but on the other hand, I don't want y'all to think I
consider what he has done, unworthy of mention. Know what I mean?

And incidentally...knockers also can be used two ways, as it is slang
for a ladies' bust over here...:)

I think we have proven between us that it is very easy to put one's foot in it when abroard!

Well, it's snowing again here on top of ice, not good.

Wherever you are, have a good day and keep warm.

Good day to all!
DC, I heard the term "John Thomas", from Monty Pythons' The Meaning of Life. That was hilarious!

Thanks Falcon...will have another 'go' at putting it here first.
I'm back.... after a bit of an 'unpaid holiday' one could say. Don't want no coffee, not in the mood for tea... I'll take two pints of Bass ale, that will do for me!!!

do anything outside the law. Being that it was his company.
But..leaving that aside now...good question..who is RW?!
I meant to say RM..of course, lol.
Mr. Harmon said to Captain Peacock..."I don't work in your department... Get stuffed!!" Peacock replied "I didn't hear that, Mr.Harmon" so he speaks in a louder voice "I said get stuffed!!"

So funny..divided by a common language! LOL I know OF those Dickies,
we called them Dickie Bows, I don't recall them being in fashion for
ladies, but men wore them with a dinner jacket if I'm not mistaken.
I have been known to wear a regular tie, loosely knotted with an
open neck white shirt blouse in my younger days, considered myself looking ever so kinky. lol
Would ye be wearin' a brimmed hat with that?

Good for them. He's turned out to be a liar and a cheat and a thief. Not to mention a bully. From the link DW posted - "the interview" - sounds like he was looking for sympathy 'yeah but it wasn't as bad the Europeans in the '80s.'
Armstrong's criminal and civil troubles, as described in that Sports Illustrated link I found too, are going to be covered as the process continues -- he just can't fade away for awhile. That's the way it is.

{{{Cuz Luke}}}....spent a pleasant hour on that site too....
I am familiar with this as occasionely I watch Lonely Planet,
where Ian Wright hosts...exceptionally well done.
As for Strawberry Fields..would you believe I have never seen it performed...until today...even though one of my favourites of
the Beatles songs. On a visit to Liverpool we passed Strawberry Fields, we were on a tour bus which had taken us to John Lennon's
home, or rather, his aunt and uncle's home where he grew up....
very emotional...we also visited Paul McCartney's house, where his father raised him and his brother.
I think I will pass on the shin-kicking contests don't you?!
Definately.
The link is a keeper, and thanks so much for posting it.
You're welcome, Cuz El. I am not sure how many hosts are used on Globetrekker, but Ian W. is my favorite. All are good, but I also favor Megan and Justine.

Thanks for sharing your Liverpool stories!

No, you wouldn't..lol. Then again, we would say 'my bag''where's my
bag', meaning handbag, but that also has a double meaning, if you
called a woman an old bag for instance, it roughly means the same
as a 'dog'..or a 'scrubber'
'Old bag' used over here about a woman is much the same insult.

Kind of. "American" meat pies are more than chicken pot pie, but all are really variations from older countries and cultures; European, Hispanic, African. Maybe even some tribes of Native Americans made some sort of meat pie.

My dad was eager to have mince meat pie for Christmas-time.

There are so many meat pies in America's kitchens.

I dunno what to think quite honestly, the crowd have smelled blood, and this is nothing short of a public flogging. Seems the issues of cheating are taking second place to money matters. imho

LOL! Nah, nothing Butch about me...matter of fact
I wore a little white pleated skirt I bought in the
children's department at Mars and Sparks with my shirt
and losely knotted tie. Same skirt in the adults dept.
was £10 more expensive. Those were the days!...:)
