So funny..divided by a common language! LOL I know OF those Dickies,
we called them Dickie Bows, I don't recall them being in fashion for
ladies, but men wore them with a dinner jacket if I'm not mistaken.
I have been known to wear a regular tie, loosely knotted with an
open neck white shirt blouse in my younger days, considered myself looking ever so kinky. lol
Would ye be wearin' a brimmed hat with that?

Good for them. He's turned out to be a liar and a cheat and a thief. Not to mention a bully. From the link DW posted - "the interview" - sounds like he was looking for sympathy 'yeah but it wasn't as bad the Europeans in the '80s.'
Armstrong's criminal and civil troubles, as described in that Sports Illustrated link I found too, are going to be covered as the process continues -- he just can't fade away for awhile. That's the way it is.

{{{Cuz Luke}}}....spent a pleasant hour on that site too....
I am familiar with this as occasionely I watch Lonely Planet,
where Ian Wright hosts...exceptionally well done.
As for Strawberry Fields..would you believe I have never seen it performed...until today...even though one of my favourites of
the Beatles songs. On a visit to Liverpool we passed Strawberry Fields, we were on a tour bus which had taken us to John Lennon's
home, or rather, his aunt and uncle's home where he grew up....
very emotional...we also visited Paul McCartney's house, where his father raised him and his brother.
I think I will pass on the shin-kicking contests don't you?!
Definately.
The link is a keeper, and thanks so much for posting it.
You're welcome, Cuz El. I am not sure how many hosts are used on Globetrekker, but Ian W. is my favorite. All are good, but I also favor Megan and Justine.

Thanks for sharing your Liverpool stories!

No, you wouldn't..lol. Then again, we would say 'my bag''where's my
bag', meaning handbag, but that also has a double meaning, if you
called a woman an old bag for instance, it roughly means the same
as a 'dog'..or a 'scrubber'
'Old bag' used over here about a woman is much the same insult.

Kind of. "American" meat pies are more than chicken pot pie, but all are really variations from older countries and cultures; European, Hispanic, African. Maybe even some tribes of Native Americans made some sort of meat pie.

My dad was eager to have mince meat pie for Christmas-time.

There are so many meat pies in America's kitchens.

I dunno what to think quite honestly, the crowd have smelled blood, and this is nothing short of a public flogging. Seems the issues of cheating are taking second place to money matters. imho

LOL! Nah, nothing Butch about me...matter of fact
I wore a little white pleated skirt I bought in the
children's department at Mars and Sparks with my shirt
and losely knotted tie. Same skirt in the adults dept.
was £10 more expensive. Those were the days!...:)

Morning El..
Morning all...

I've said it before and I will again,
I agree with you here,
we ALL know [and you have said this too]
what ARMSTRONG is guilty of,
that he turned out to be a cheat, a 1st class liar,
a sneak etc.. we all read about it..

but, like you say, it is done & dusted..
his career is ruined before the whole world,
he got his just desserts and STILL people
are 'baying for blood'..

Interesting, it reminds me of a case here,
VERY DIFFERENT SUBJECT MATTER, granted, but,
the same in that 'the public won't let it go.

Tis about a paedophile who served every day of a LONG
sentence for his wrong doings..
when he was freed, the media and the public followed him EVERYWHERE,
they hounded him night and day, it was up for grabs,
where he lived now, where he was going to live permanently,
where he went, what he did,
on one occasion, he traveled by train,
media were at the rail stn. before he left and their media
mates were at the other end in a rural town waiting for
his arrival,
then he went abroad AND, yes, the media followed.

Yes, before anyone mentions it WE ALL KNOW the crime of paedophilia
but where's the point at all in someone serving a very long sentence
and not allowed to live 'any kind of life' when they emerge.

Good Morning Grace
and Good Morning All

I agree wholeheartedly, that is paramount to torture, I have
heard of this happening here only recently as it happens,
word got out that there was a peodophile living in a nearby
village, within no time the whole village was outside his
house, windows broken, the man had served his time but he
wasn't going to be allowed to live in peace, he moved and
was not seen in these parts again.
Granted it is a terrible thing to molest a small child, and
anybody who has been found guilty of doing so, it is understandable
that 'an eye' should be kept open in order to prevent any further
such assault, but it has to be taken into account, that the
'authorities' considered the person to be no longer a risk to
society, that should be honoured and discretion put into play.
Delicate subject Grace, but everybody deserves a second chance.

lol hope i spelled that right..
:)

El/Grace

hate to disagree with u both, but IMO peodophiles dont deserve to live in peace, afterall that child will Never be able to do so, that child's memory is Forever intact and therefore he/she will Always have to live with this persons selfish/disgusting act..
that childs pain NEVER goes away.

Bore Da Pretty Feet,

it's me what spelt it wrong initially, lol, as I spelt it how
it is pronounced!

Two sides to every story isn't there, like myself, you have young
grandchildren, and we put ourselves into the equation, but whatever
the crime committed, be it burglary, child molestation (and I
feel so strongly about that the words stick in my throat) if the
person responsible is found guilty, sentenced and served a sentence, usually it would be a lengthy one, then that person should not be at
the mercy of a blood thirsty crowd, which is exactly the situation
the fellow I mentioned above, was in.
Gone are the days of stocks in the village square! The court has dealt with it, sentence served, he has paid his dues.
A more severe crime warrants a life sentence.

well El looks and sounds better to me as Bora, so it probably will stick in my head that way. lol

actually El, i speak from my own experience and feel strongly on the subject because of it, and the worse part is the percentage of girls (in particular) of being sexually abused at some point in their young life is high enough to warrant a life sentence to Any abuser IMO. afterall it IS a life sentence, in a way, to that child. and because i have female grandchildren i feel even Stronger now in my views. so to me it IS a severe crime that Should have a life sentence automatically. we need as a society to protect our children, because the probability of these men changing their ways isnt high enough to make me feel comfortable in letting them out to possibly harm other children.
so if i sound blood thirsty its because i am and it about time others feel the same way with regards to the scum of the earth.

its our duty to protect our children, in any way legally possible and thats what im for - All the way! i say, to h*ll with these dirtbags..
