<quoted text>El,

I didn't see this post YESTERDAY, somehow......
otherwise I would have replied.

I think I am the person you are referring to in
that post,
am I right?

Furthermore, I think you are being unfair,
transferring blame to ME for a post by you, which offended
RM QUINN..

Why were you not straight up and to the point
instead of saying your post was directed towards 'me'
via RM Quinn?

Let's tackle this 'honestly' and head on,
instead of innuendo and drawing others in..

You & I were posting 'here' and in DIRTY NELLIE'S
waaay back even with an entirely different group
of people > Vee: M04: MH: FRANKO: FALCON, LA SUNSHINE etc..
and that history must stand for something.

Newer posters now

AND

NOTHING in the world wrong per se, with that..
as, Topix [by it's very nature] is always evolving..

Yes American friends here ARE setting up a meeting,
and yes geographically You and I live close
enough to do the same and chat on the phone.

Allow for the fact that we are all different..
and I appreciate those differences..

I, personally, am not for meeting up with
cyber friends, I like to keep it
how it is 'cyber' friendship... which I DO hold in special regard.
am I SO wrong in that?

maybe I am the odd one out here -
but... at least,

I'm being honest.
so be it.. it's 'me' warts an all! as the saying goes.

Still, at the same time, I am delighted for those who DO
wish to meet, and wish them EVERY success..

I appreciate that we are all different,
and 'I' would also like the freedom to enjoy
that precious difference.
Perhaps it was the phrasing that rather hurt my feelings. As mentioned, email/text is more challenging to understand meaning sometimes as opposed to face to face.

I told my husband that back when I was a kid we had pen pals; today we have cyber pals.

I suppose like characters in a book, you can 'picture' folks looking like whatever you conjure in your mind.

If I had the money, I would be interested in traveling to Europe to meet up. I enjoy people and learning about them but we only share so much here -- hence the anonymity.

I can assure Grace, I am not an ax murderer!

(That last sentence being a joke. I hope you wouldn't think I was criminal)

<quoted text>thanks for your reply El,
and indeed a yes I DID have someone staying back then,
times and circumstances change, we had this out a few times before,
as I recall..

I want you to know it's *NOTHING* I have against YOU or ANYONE here,
it's just 'my way'

maybe, more correct to say 'my PECULIAR way'!
and it isn't PERSONAL, IT'S HOW I feel about all my cyber
friends;
and yes I communicate personally via mail with
your good self and another here but as for meeting,
I prefer the mystery of cyber friendship to remain, as it is.
dono'why but, that's just me.

Anyway, long live "EL's KITCHEN" which is a wonderful
thread of friendship and communication,
you welcome ALL and sundry -

even odd bods like Grace Nerissa(:
As FC said, some of have all but abandoned other threads for the Kitchen. Must be the folks who come here. It's definitely the folks who come here!

LONG LIVE EL's KITCHEN!

was wondering if you heard about the homeless fellow
in Dublin in the news recently.
He has a pet bunny rabbit, and, I believe, a little dog.
He was minding his own business when an 18 yr old man
came along, snatched his bunny rabbit and flung it into
the River Liffey.
The Homeless Man looked down at his little pet swimming
around in circles in the freezing waters, and without
any hesitation at all, jumped in to rescue his little friend.
The bunny died in his arms at one point, but was revived thanfully.
A very brave man and God protect him (and his pets) in
this cold snap.
Not everything finds its way across the pond so I would not have heard, but I am glad for a hopefully 'happy' ending for the man and his pet. There is a man in Chicago who always has his dog with him -- German Shepard -- lays in a blanket. They are always together - companions.

Can I remind you of past posts where I expressed a wish to travel to Chicago one day, and you and I
meet up, visit those gardens?

Does that sound like I don't want to meet you, or indeed, any other friends should the opportunity arise.

I almost met Denny and his wife, I have family close to where he was visiting, and was prepared to 'kill two birds'...travel down to meet them, unfortunately his wife was not up to making that journey.

I have met up with one friend here, he and his wife came to our home. Very nice people indeed.

So, my point being, I had no desire to upset you or anyone else. Okay?...:)

TRUE..

Once upon a time
DIRTY NELLY'S thread
was very popular and had the most posts of
any other thread here.. on Offbeat.
Suddenly, one day, it was taken away suddenly
and without warning.

Some say, troll action
[which was rife at the time] lay behind it..

I don't know but it's history now anyway..
but no matter, it's gone now..
a poor imitation in it's place by
name> 'Dirty Nellie's'
where we post occasionally, but..
it reminds me [lol] of an ole log fire which
needs constant poking & attention if you
don't keep coaxing it along LOL!
it'll go out again!

but EL'S KITCHEN needs no such!!! it is burning brightly all
the time..
far above and beyond *Nellie's*
[and most other threads]
but, that's life..
and, as the saying goes,
it's a good man [woman in this case]
can take being beaten lol!

Good morning/afternoon to all!
My itouch is so old...
How old is it? Old enough that it can't take a Topix upgrade. Something about downloading an app that I can't get to!

I do hope everyone is having a great day! My new avatar needs to be tweaked. The sideways photo of Simba kitty does him no justice.

Happeeeeeee Thursday, Grace, El, Quinn, Tony, Franko... etc etc. I came to read and wish all well like I do on occasion, and sad to see that there is another rift starting between El and Grace. I have a lot of serious issues happening at the present time, and I hope that the two of you can rise above yet another argument brewing. I think the world of you both, and I have a lot of people's phone numbers, and dont call for one reason or another. That does not mean I dont love a lot of you, it does not take anything away from the fact that we have been posting for years. I think it is a delightful idea if you meet one another, and never had a reservation that Grace would be included in the equation. This is a new year, and I hope that you will see your way clear to realize that this is one battle not even worth fighting over. Now why cant you call one another right now, say hello, laugh, and shake hands.

Then lets come up with new information instead of contouring to rehash the same stuff. It's gotten old to me.
The US never should have allowed law enforcement & military weapons on the street --- but the horse is out of the barn and the gun lobby & manufacturers won.'Bad guys' were not using these types of guns decades ago.
Lets start talking about help for the mentally ill, the crap people let their kids & listen to --- I don't give a hoot about Marilyn Manson but when a messed up kid listens to it it's the makings if a disaster.
And yes, let's do stronger background checks especially at gun shows and I don't care how polite the patrons are. Where do you think those with questionable backgrounds can buy the guns?
.........shall I continue?
Quinn if you are speaking of rifles there are no current military weapons on the street. They just look alike but don't work alike. Military is full auto!

Not even a semi-automatic M1911A1? How about a semi-automatic M-11? Or how about a semi-automatic Mk 25? Then there is always the semi-automatic Kimber Custom. But then there is the semi-automatic .40 S&W.

Not ALL military weapons are FULL auto Crain.

I meant it quite sincerely Grace. Although it isn't
our way to be so outgoing, lol, sometimes it is
important to let someone know what they mean to me.
Let me say you put it perfectly about the difference
in characters amongst we the group who congregate here
in the kitchen...I couldn't be happier with the grand bunch
of folk who come here...
call it an extension of Dirty Nelly's, one disappeared sadly
but may this one live for a long time to come.

Fully automatic weapons have been banned.
A special permit still allows ownership-
but a permit will not be given for purchase.

However, the purchase of 'parts' to make your
semi-automatic a (full automatic can still be purchased)- most have *button or lever* switches.
Don't get caught at a gun show doing it!!!!

You notice I said current as in modern and was speaking about rifles. No military uses a semi only as there basic rifle.
