No I haven't yet. The movie promos on the coLOr tV and reviews are positive ... as in, "should see".
Just wondered. I don't see many movies on the colour tv myself
not having the movie channel, but saw that at the picture house.
Well worth seeing if you get the opportunity.

I think the days of 'normality' are over...at one time a child would stand out like a sore thumb with anything but two parents of the opposite sex, but then came one parent families (of which I was one
eventually) and as my sister who was a teacher put it, a family where the only consistency in the household was the same bed. She taught in a deprived area, whether that has any bearing.
So yes, parenting is parenting as you say, and should be judged if at all, on the well being of the child and not the gender persuasion.
My wife and I watched the Queen again yesterday. A very good movie indeed. My friends in Brighton thick that Dianas death was an assassination. Is that a common belief there? I remember the out pouring of grief when it happened. How would she have been viewed if she had married the Arab ?

FC,
Glad you liked LINCOLN ..
it seems it's the general consus of opinion that
it is brilliant in every way,
you.. and others might find this interesting,

I know! I said it tongue in cheek, but you know what I mean, for
instance when I was at school there was one girl in class had free
dinners due to her parents not being able to provide dinner money.
It wasn't kept discreet. So she stood out, an all girls school and
a lot of snobbery there.
Now moving on..when my own son went to High School, the one who stood out was the one paying for his dinner.
Sorry to ramble on but those are instances stick in my mind.
As does the 'gay' friend I had in the 60's who had to hide the fact.
A nicer man you could not wish to meet.

Well that sounds delish...I often have sweet potato but never tried
adding a little brown sugar...that's what I'll do!..:)
El,
speaking of potatoes I sent a link
here, I think Sat/Sunday re an Irish
potato dish, called COLCANNON..

if you or anyone here want to track it back,
it's a tasty and easy dish.
It's so easy to miss a post, there are
so many(:

I,too remember the MARIGOLD HOTEL movie,
seemingly they have another similar type movie
out now called QUARTET, starring Tom Courtney,
Billy Connolly and the great Maggie Smith,
and Pauline Collins.. apparently
about retired musicians.

A radio host urged folks to go see it,
saying it was and easy delightful movie.

Good afternoon Lady El ... If you see Lincoln at the cinema you will NOT be disappointed ... it was a very good movie ... I think it may be nominated for some awards ... I will probably rent it when it comes around on Netflix ... if you're not destined to see Jack Reacher on the big screen, then yes, you must see it on DVD ... it'll be worth your while ... and plus you'll be able to re-run at your leisure ... there are a lot of good movies coming out ... I've had The Dark Knight Rises on my desk since last Thursday but I had a very good book I wanted to finish and then the weekend came around with the football playoffs ... I may get around to watching it this afternoon, who knows ... In any event ... hope you, P and the furry one's are all well and hope today finds everyone in good spirits ... Enjoy the rest of your day! Peace and Love, FC <3 ...
Good Afternoon Flower...seems whenever I think of you you appear, glad of it, I miss you when I don't see you.
I know I have said this before, and it hasn't materialised, but we are going to the cinema tomorrow...don't know what they are showing as yet, so it could be Lincoln, could be Argo, dunno yet, and I quite fancy The Quartet...
Had to laugh when you said you had the Dark Knight Rises on your desk...what are saying, hahaha
I still haven't done any reading of note...I took a book to bed with me the other night on Tagine Cooking, how exciting is that?!
Enjoy your day Flower however you spend it, watching your movie or whatever else you choose to do. Love to you and to Jax and Pooh Bear xxx

We lead a quiet life here...some would say almost boring, lol, but just wondering now if others have
the same experience I have when I go shopping.
I went over to the island yesterday, change of scene,
and the shops are close together, so headed for one
where I needed the majority of things on my list.
Was perusing the vegetables aisle when I got talking
to a lady who was also choosing potatoes. She started
entolling (is that the word)? on the merits of the sweet potato, and then went on to give me the recipe for a particular dish which calls for it, but other potatoes do not fit the bill. I politely said, that sounds nice, giving her the impression that I was going to make it, and so could not avoid putting sweet potatoes in my trolley.
I headed for the milk...she also has Soy milk, but as I reached out for my Alpro Original she told me that the store next door has their own brand...'and it's good' for half the price.
Not wanting to appear a spendthrift I thanked her for the advice (in Welsh) lol, and moved on, minus my milk.
I knew I had plenty of my own choice in my fridge at home, so no worries there.
The bottom line is, I came out without half the items on my list...I am left wondering if I look as though I need this kind of advice, having shopped under my own steam for a long long time.
I will forgive her though, as in recommending certain classes, she said they are for people of my age group...the OVER 50's. YEAH!
Interesting post El,
and yes, we've all 'been there' lol..
as Denny said rightly, there's a fine line
between interference and helpfulness.

it's like that here too, people are generally very friendly
and will chat about anything, but you get the other kind!

Once I was admiring a miniature alarm clock in someone's trolley
we stood together in line at the checkout,
'Here' she says 'look after my trolley. I'll get you one!'LOL!!

I assured her I didn't need one but she insisted
'Go on, take it, it's a bargain'

I got out of it SOMEHOW! lol

I suppose it' interesting the world is made up of
many different colourful characters.

El,
I must give you a laugh,
as I know you watch 'MRS BROWNE'S BOYS'

2 nights ago I had a dream when in the Supermarket,
about seeing a loaf of bread green with mould,
In this dream,I brought it to the attention of the
check out girl, saying it should be removed promptly,

in replt she muttered something,
I asked what? she beckoned me near with her finger,
and as I leaned over she said
'would YOU kindly F*** OFF [full word] and mind your own business'

I was shocked!

but when I awoke I couldn't stop laughing at the whole
'sketch'

I definitely blame Mrs Browne for the F word!!!!!!!!

Now there is a big difference in our TV. We have Gordon Ramsey but they bleep all his foul language. We don't see naked breast here on normal television. I am so proud of myself for not saying something funny about the type of bird El mentioned :)

That is so funny Grace...I can see you waking up most indignant.
Mrs. Browne is a scream, the whole family are great, I look forward
to my Monday night's viewing, lol.
I was glad I wasn't on Skype earlier myself, as I lost a post and
the air was blue. Mrs. Browne has led us astray, haha
Good example of people being helpful to the point of being a nuisance
with it, and not so easy to get out of so good for you. They mean well
but there is a limit!

Good Monday afternoon, Dear FC. Uh, I still have a VCR also. But my PS2 Playstation console purchased for my girls back in time allows me to view movies on DVD. Yay them!

Glad you had a fine weekend.

Weekend weather blech; but much football... too much football. Basically tuned out much of the last half of Texans/Patriots to play on Offbeat yesterday evening. Paula's fine, thanks. I'll pass along your regards if you don't on FB. <3

Nor I. No cable, no satellite, no movie service via internet (dial-up). And video rental stores are dwindling fast because of those mentioned media. I find myself watching PBS and PBS:World for their fare instead of re-watching my movie collection.

U.S. commercial TV networks advertise movies upcoming; the promos.

Yeah, I should like to view that one.

i have a feeling she just needed an "ear" - ya know? someone to talk to and u were it. i see that where i work, there are a lot of elderly tenants and they stop by to talk, sometimes trying not to be obvious that they just have a need to talk. they're feeling lonely so they come in and might ask me which curtains i would choose for their kitchen, ask if i would sew a button on their coat for them, or ask me to get their packages from their car and then chat away and away and away... lol
its just their "need" to stay connected somehow to the outside world and i guess i represent that to them. but i look at it like this, some day i hope when the need is there for me, hopefully someone will be there for me too.
but! they might end up with sore ears. LOL
