I am always intrigued, entertained, and informed by Rick Steves. Rudy Maxa is another European travel show I enjoy. BTW, the Rick Steves episodes shown in my area are "recycled" from circa 2006 or so, but still very enjoyable.
This triggered a posting memory. Google is our friend.:)

You know Cuz, I thought those words were familiar! This time I
viewed the video on YouTube, it made more of an impact, but I am
annoyed with myself for forgetting this past conversation!...(:

Did you watch the Swedish version with subtitles or the American one? We watched the foreign version and it was great! Watched the other and it was rather trashy! I like the implied love scenes. Rolling around naked, duh, if you read the book, we know that had sex! It doesn't have to be so blatant to be relevant!

LOL! I am reminded of when I ate in a diner? when I was over
there, there was a queue of people waiting for a table, and
all eyes were focused on me and my son, not necessarily rudely,
I never found anyone to be rude in the slightest, but perplexed
rather to see that we didn't put the knife down after cutting.
It's quicker our way!
You use a knife like we might use a piece of bread. I know when you are finished you lay your knife and fork a certain way so a server knows you are finish. We just confuse people when we go to England :)

I'm shocked actually. I had no idea.
Part of Europe is Socialist, but the UK is not. France certainly is, the taxes are so high that many are going over to Russian citizenship
because of it. There are changes in the pipeline here, to recover
the economy...not everybody is happy, but, you can't please all the people......
To us all of Europe is Socialist. We term it European style socialism. Getting Obama care is the last step in our slide to Socialism. We consider government health care and the dole to be part of Socialism. The main thing is high taxes that are used to redistribute wealth

I enjoyed the American version, thought it was great acting.
True it was blatant, but somehow Rooney Mara got away with it.

Good night El.
I am partial to foreign films. The Japanese ones are a riot! The voice inflections in a native language are far different than "dubbed" films. However, some subtitled movies, the captions move to darn slow. I am somewhat of a fast reader.

Lincoln was a fabulous movie with an amazing cast. Would recommend it. And given Daniel Day Lewis portrayed the character Liam Neeson was originally cast for I can why Tom Cruise was an ill choice for Jack Reacher. The guy is a shrimp next to Lewis & Neeson.

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon....

As someone who needs the captions I understand why 'hearing folks' don't care for them. The nice thing about it when AMC Theaters used to have it was I saw the captions, but you didn't if we were sitting in the same movie.

My neighbor Totoro, Kiki's Delivery Service, The Last Samauri, and others in Japanese only! The dubbing is terrible and you miss a lot in the native language like inflections.
Unfortunate for the hearing impaired...
When the captions move quicker, films don't seem that long.

Good Morning everyone..

Firstly,
BRIGHT EYES,
Thanks for YOUR post of recent days, and yes
I'll gladly give you a 'go' of my new pillow(:

I happened across a TV Documentary
about the 'Hotel Merriott' that was caught up
in the '9/11' disaster..
and a more interesting, moving, and fascinating
piece of TV I hadn't seen in a while,
the twists and turn of fate, coincidences etc..
if you folks ever get a chance to see it,
DO..(maybe some have seen it)

Coincidences like one man, a writer, who checked in
with his Dad, in order to give himself time
to concentrate on a book he was to begin writing
about 'A Terrorist attack on America"!!!!!!

Another, a lawyer who was all caught up in his high
powered job, stayed in his room to the last minute
because .. altho' he knew something odd was going on
outside, by the faces of people looking upwards!! stuff he couldn't see from 'HIS' angle..
he stayed 'til the last minute, never dreaming the enormity of what was actually happening..until
eventually the hotel was split in two by the second
tower falling, the lawyer through sheer luck
was stranded alone on a staircase, one of the few bits left standing, and the reason for that was
that stairwell was reinforced after the previous early
90's attack! he waited there alone and cried wondering would he
ever live to see his daughter soon to be married..
after ages he met a fireman, who led him out,
tho' they both had NO idea where they were going,
as they met challenge after challenge..

He DID live to see his daughter's wedding,
he invited the fireman to be guest of honor
at that wedding... it changed his whole life
[he said] from being a hard nosed lawyer to
a 'real person'
The guy who went to write the book also survived
and has instead, helped folks with personal stories..
by writing them.

An Irishman who stayed with and helped a dying woman
out of the TWIN TOWERS, she'd been splattered by
hot fuel, he got her out and she went by ambulance,
but unfortunately died days later..
When he went back to Ireland, he felt elated
UNTIL he heard the news that his sister and little
niece were on the second plane
[en route] to Disneyland!!

Sorry for going on but it was truly the most
gripping documentary I've seen in a while.

It is called simply

Good Saturday afternoon {{{ Cuz Grace }}}
I'm starting to feel deprived ... as yet to have indulged in the honored recliner chair for home comfort. I get by lazing about stretched out on the couch/sofa -- I remember back in the day when some folk called it a davenport. Have no idea about the origin of term for that furniture.
LOL! Ah you see! you must be more subtle,
and send out the right vibes>

'OOO my poor back' etc!(:

Davenport, yeah, I kinda remember that,
they were also known as THE LAZY BOY..
which indeed is a good name for obvious
reasons LOL!!!

Good day to you Cuz L
