<quoted text>I think you are at the heart of the question. Guns are not going to just disappear. So it is a question of are you safer when only criminals have guns? I think our carry laws make us much safer. Very few people with a carry license have lost their license by using a gun in a crime. I feel like good people around me who are armed protect me from criminals. Crime rates have dropped as more people became lawfully armed. That is why nearly all states allow carry. Some states like New York just make it more difficult than others to get a license. In New York it can take a year or more. After a tragic mass shooting in Texas the law was written so that the state MUST give a license to anyone who was not a felon and had no history of mental illness. You go through a training course on law and you pass a shooting test to prove you know how to use a gun
The "tingly feeling" contingent I wrote about includes the NRA/gun maker lackeys. The other categories eliminate one of their excuses.

Tyrannical government "reasons" are just plain stupid.

But the 2nd amendment was all about the tyranny of government. It had nothing to do with hunting. An armed people are a free people.

Where did you read me referencing hunting?

Defense -- the colonists' environment, and Great Britain hanging around over the U.S.-Canadian border. That hostility wasn't ended officially until the peace treaty signed in 1814.

DW, we are still waiting for FC to check in before we make any hard plans. Apparently, she will be in the area for a wedding. Once her location has been verified, ROAD TRIP!
Maybe you could join us.

<quoted text>Trying to find my place where I last posted -- ran across this:

Knock on wood, the flu bug has missed me so far. It's everywhere, it's everywhere! Being diligent on hand-washing and being in a sparse-populated area is key, I think. There's always a chance though.

Hope you remain away from it, as well as everyone else here.
Stay healthy! Just this morning they were talking about how/why the flu can spread on the train. Glad I drive myself in car that has my own germs.....and some puppy potpourri (dog hair).

I haven't seen a whole pile of Cruise films but I remember that both he and Hoffman were great in 'Rainman'-- simply great movie.
As an aside they've been showing "Scent of a Woman" again with Al Pacino & Chris O'Donnell. Pacino is brilliant !

You've got an EU that the politicians not the people want; Americans keep electing a congress filled with Republicans who have made it their mission not to work with the Democrats or the President so nothing gets done and average people get stuck.
I expect it wouldn't suit all if the President actually made a success of his term in office. The interests of the people seem to be the last consideration.

LOL! I am reminded of when I ate in a diner? when I was over
there, there was a queue of people waiting for a table, and
all eyes were focused on me and my son, not necessarily rudely,
I never found anyone to be rude in the slightest, but perplexed
rather to see that we didn't put the knife down after cutting.
It's quicker our way!

The problem is his idea of success could ruin the country. He has spent more than any president in history in 4 short years. When he took office we had a 10 trillion dollar debt that had been built up by all past presidents combined. We Now have a 16 trillion dollar debt and will have over 20 trillion debt when he leaves office :( Every one talks about taxing the rich. If you make $50,000 you will have $1,000 lest to spend at the end of the year because your taxes went up. Europe has a Socialist state with free heath care but they have high taxes. America want a Socialist state with low taxes funded by borrowed money. You know who buys our debt El ? We do. The federal reserve is buying our debt and printing box cars of money. This will devalue our dollar

It was fantastic. I don't think that guy will be raping any more women :) The last book is the best. She became a ward of the state because she threw gas on her father and set him on fire. In the last book she meets her father and half brother :)

Thanks for sharing the picture of your finished (?}-- I HOPE :)-- chalet. It's lovely. I followed your posts about it. I didn't realize your prior posting of the leak you and Mr. P worked on wasn't the finishing.
Glad to read that Mr. P was back to par, and most impressed you all were out there in Welsh clime in January for the work; most hardy stock you Brits :)
Deer {{{Cuz Luke}}} thankyou, that is the one we bought as such,
it fronts the one we made making a longer chalet...somewhere to
sit, make a brew, have a sarni, and read the newspaper during
the day.
The roof had started to leak in the older building....replaced now.
It was funny the other morning, I am one feels the cold normally, I
queried the sensibility of carrying on that particular day, P's
answer was 'it isn't too bad today, it's 3C'! To my surprise I was
quite chuffed it was as mild as that so desperate I was to get it all
finished.
Had a run over to the island today (Ynys Mon) beautiful day.

I'm shocked actually. I had no idea.
Part of Europe is Socialist, but the UK is not. France certainly is, the taxes are so high that many are going over to Russian citizenship
because of it. There are changes in the pipeline here, to recover
the economy...not everybody is happy, but, you can't please all the people......
