and another interests me is Lincoln...and catch Jack Reacher on dvd.
Trying not to visualise Tom C minus shirt...it's rather early in the moring (not yet 7 a.m) am in my bed complete with laptop catching up with the world.

No point starting your day to quickly. You may have heard our vice president said Obama was going to do something about guns by executive order. Everyone is up in arms at the thought of Obama going around congress and our constitution. This will be interest. We didn't elect a king. Now that should start a conversation in the kitchen. Not about guns but about abuse of power

Ok mr debate king......what makes you and the NRA think you're so special you're above the law and the 2nd amendment gives you carte Blanche to amass an arsenal?

Every amendment has its exception and the second amendment is no different. The first amendment guarantees freedom of speech but you can't use it as cover to yell "fire" in a crowded theater and cause a panic; the KKK cannot use speech to incite riots and cause harm; and bullies cannot use the first amendment to harass people to the point of suicide.

So the first amendment right to freedom of speech is not ironclad.

I forget the # but that amendment barring unreasonable search & seizure, there's a loophole called exigent circumstances. Police can come busting down your door without a warrant when the circumstances call for it.....and isn't a darn thing you can do about it.

So why shouldn't there be exceptions to the right to bear arms? Public safety and security is more important than your right to amass an arsenal of high caliber weapons. And I know many retired servicemen who don't own guns and don't believe retired servicemen need to carry guns.

No constitutional rights are absolute. If you think they are you're sadly mistaken.

Hey Boomer! Good to see ya. It's a go. The more the merrier.

Do you catch Rick Steves? I meant to mention to El he was touring Wales and I was thinking of her. I should backtrack he has a travel program on public television and visits many places in Europe. Curious if the BBC carries it.

Good am everyone here..
I'm still in bed! Kinda hard to get out of it these
Darker colder days!
Besides I got a memory foam pillow as a Christmas present
An it's sooo comfy, kinda follows the contours of your head 'n neck.

Has anyone noticed just a small lengthening in the evenings already?

Have a Good Friday ..

Good Morning ALL...

Today is the last day of work on the chalet (avatar)
we re-roofed it yesterday, some finishing touches to
be made today and that's it. Checked the roof this
morning after the heavy deluge overnight..and it's
SOUND. Not the best way to spend one's days but we
are almost there, then back to normal.

Have you fixed a meeting place as yet Boomer, Quincy
et al? It's most exciting...I met one of our offbeat
friends two years ago, he and his wife came to stay
nearby, lovely people...

Have a great day and hope your weather is kind as it is here.

'Morning Grace...good for you, I may join you (lol) after
today, I have this built in alarm unfortunately, I'll have
to reset it!
It's funny you should say about the days lengthening as at
around four'ish yesterday, I realised we had anothee good half hour
of daylight which helped matters as we were lifting the new roof into
place. Then just as we got it into position the Heaven's opened.
Are you ready for the promised snow this weekend...I am so excited!
Love snow.

I looked up the name on Wiki....I have to see his tour of Wales..at
the very least. I watched him on YouTube..fascinating.
I love what he said about North Wales....

"North Wales: Feisty and Poetic

From towering Mount Snowdon and evocative medieval castles to grand Victorian promenades, North Wales is a poem written in landscape. We'll climb a mountain aboard a steam train, learn some Welsh, follow a miner deep into a slate mine, herd sheep with a very clever dog, and work in a pop pilgrimage to the Beatles' Liverpool"

thanks for bringing him into my life Quincy!...:)

Hear something to that effect, yes. I just don't 'get' where your
President could possibly abuse his power by attempting to right a
wrong...would you admire him more if he ignored the issue, I don't
think so Denny. Another shooting at a school in California...
why should people risk their lives in situations like this when by
banning guns per se, it would eliminate the temptation for clowns such as this to go on the rampage?

You go right ahead and roll over and pull those blankets up Grace. Some days it just has to be done.

I always wondered about the memory foam pillow. I used to stock them when I worked in a department store.

I take exception when some Americans use Constitutional amendments as the be all and all to do things. And your 'rights' stop at the tip your nose and do not get to infringe on mine.

Yesterday, Someone broke into an office in Chicago with an Uzi. Fortunately it jammed and the police were able to confiscate it. Our chief of police used it as an example and said "you don't use an Uzi to hunt deer or kill squirrels"

So why are Denny and the NRA and the Republicans so vehemently opposed to ANY gun control/bans?

.....and he did learn some Welsh because at the end of the episode his local guide mentioned how proud the Welsh are of retaining the language so it and then a variety of folks passed through speaking Welsh.

Denny gives those of you across the pond and across border the impression that the US Constitution is an absolute guarantee of rights. That is just not so.
